I had advertisment for a honey tasting class and decided to sign up for it. It was about 28 dollars, which included admission to the gardens. I was greeted when I arrived, then I checked in to the class. The instructor was a beekeeper from University of Florida. He introduced us to various types of honey, including many from different countries and types of flowers. We also tried were a few local honeys from Florida. It took about 1.5 hours to sample over 20 different types of honeys. A bit of description was provided for each honey, but questions were answered. I really enjoyed the Manuka honey, Lavender honey, and the various honeys from Florida. After the class, there were certain items for sale, but I decided to head to the gardens. While I did enjoy the displays and the fountains near the home, I couldn't enjoy much and left early due to the thunderstorm nearby. Still, I did enjoy about 15 to 20 minutes of walking through it. Parking was free and ample. Being a foodie, I really enjoyed the honey tasting experience. The instructor was great and informative, and I enjoyed most of the honeys I tried. The garden admission addition was a plus, but I wish I was able to stay a bit longer. If you're visiting Orlando, I highly recommend this as one of your stops. A historical landmark of the city. I found out the Leu family donated their family land hoping to share its beauty. Unique gardens with plenty of shade. Great for all ages, including toddlers. It is fenced in with lots of areas to picnic, if that's your thing! There's a small cafe for coffee, ice cream and a few snacks. On certain days they have infant and toddler reading time (20minutes long). This garden is huge with wide paths through all the gardens with optional dirt paths. Most paths are naturally shaded by the tall mature live oak, cypress, crepe myrtle and banyan trees. If you love nature, you are in for a special treat as this garden has hundreds of plants and flowers all very clearly labeled. Sprinkled throughout the paths are funky bird houses and information on the birds there which sing non-stop in the background which is mesmerizing to sit on a bench by the brook and listen to birds and water, like I said, a special treat. I located a new bird to me, the gila woodpecker! The house museum tour is full of local Florida history and the house is beautiful with many interesting details like the children's back stairs and the bathrooms have original tiles and fixtures! The bathrooms are accessible, clean and well stocked with supplies. The map gives a clear idea of where you want to wander to and where you might want to stop to take in nature. One of my favorite places with sculpture added to the gardens along with specialized gardens for cocktail ingredients, salsa garden, chutney garden and tea garden! Fun! Many fruits and herbs as well. We visit Leu Gardens at least once a year, typically in the winter but have been there for every season. They often have different exhibits which make it fun for younger kids such as dinosaurs and fairy doors. Plenty of grassy areas so pack a picnic. Butterfly & vegetable garden in my favorite area. During the summer I recommend arriving at opening & finishing up with picnic lunch by 11:30-12. Also try to aim for a June visit as July & August tend to be even hotter. I had to schedule some activities on non-theme park days, found Harry P Leu Gardens as an option, and it was one of our favorite visits. They host various exhibits at different times of the year to keep things fresh. I was there for Origami in the Garden, which ran from February to September last year, and they had 13 different origami sculptures scattered around the gardens. We got lucky for parking, which seemed plenty, but the gardens was host to several private celebratory events. The people at the welcome center were very friendly and informative, letting me know where to go and giving me useful guides. There's also a small cafe and marketplace before you make your way to the gardens. Overall, the grounds has a fair ratio of both shaded and unshaded areas with different plant species organized in some manner that goes beyond my understanding. You MUST make sure you are well protected by the UV, as it bears down. You should consider thirst quenchers, too. It wasn't too crowded, and there's plenty of semi-secluded spots for a peaceful picnic. I loved that the origami exhibits allowed us to have goals along the grounds. If I go here again, I'd be interested in touring the historic Leu house. The "secret garden" was not really anything except a bunch of foliage, in my opinion, so it was kind of a waste of time trying to find it. The map is very helpful, and the paths are distinguished enough to not get lost. It looks like they had several beautiful options for wedding venues. We came for the light display. So, I did not see as much of the garden (as it was, well, dark). However, this was a wonderful experience! The garden is well maintained with easy walking paths and even some gnomes tucked in fun spots. The team members, were friendly, conversational and seemed to really want to be at work. Really beautiful gardens. It's pretty affordable to get in and you can spend hours just walking around here. If you love being in nature and walking around, this is definitely a good place to visit. They are hidden gazebos and benches all throughout the park that you can sit down and relax on while taking in all the views. We didn't end up making it into the museum. However, we'll definitely go back for another trip to try to get in. We were able to see different kinds of birds and butterflies while walking around here. read more

The Highlights: The Harry P Leu Gardens - beautiful & well maintained. Clean bathrooms & nice gift shop. Great place to take photos as well. I would have given this place five stars IF the customer service was satisfactory. This review does not reflect on the gardens but the staff & customer service for a wedding venue our friends paid for to have their wedding. I would NOT recommend this place as a wedding venue. Our friends selected the garden as their wedding venue. It is a 12 hour drive from our location to the garden - 24 hours round trip with no stops. This was the most negative experience I had for a wedding venue. The garden is very beautiful yet it was difficult to enjoy due to all the problems everyone at the wedding venue encountered with the staff. It was a small wedding - the guests all came together & knew where to go EXCEPT us. We arrived earlier than the wedding guests and followed directions as instructed. We were instructed to get the information of where to go for their wedding at the front desk when we got there. We arrived earlier than all the wedding guests (who were together with the brides). The front desk received the names of our friends getting married and gave us a map - circling the wrong location and giving us the wrong directions! We waited there for a long time and it was a long walk from the front desk. We came back to the front desk after being informed by the bride that we were sent to the wrong location( they had to start the wedding immediately due to time constraints). They were at the location with all the guests who arrived with them . The same front desk lady we talked to told us that she gave us the right location. When we told her that we were informed by the bride that we were at the wrong location, she got on the phone to find out the right location. The wedding guests came out and said the wedding was done. There was no apology from the front desk for sending us to the wrong location and taking too much time finding the right place to send us. Our friends told us that they encountered a lot of problems with the wedding venue and the wedding services they paid for were not provided by Harry P Leu Gardens as promised. They said it was very expensive and they were unhappy with the poor customer service. No compensation, apologies, and corrections were made by the staff for their incompetence. On the bright side, we still got great photographs of the brides. Everyone was optimistic despite all the challenges and negative experience with the staff there. read more

Another good experience at Harry P Blue Gardens today. Since it was the first Monday of the month, admission was complementary so there was a large crowd taking advantage of this awesome deal. We got there just before lunch and just before the rains so we benefited as a lot of the crowd was exiting for either lunch or a dry area. Even though there has been a lot of plants affected by the freezes earlier in the year, everything is starting to come back as we get more rain. Just a really nice atmosphere and serenity from an otherwise very busy and chaotic world. I would recommend a lot of SPF as well as a couple of golf umbrellas just to stay dry. We see that HPL did replace their internal Gift Shop with a Foxtail coffee. What an awesome business decision that was. Great to provide meal options and coffee options for their patrons that were not previously there. This Foxtail Coffee, compared to others outside of HPL, had a lot more lunch (sandwich) options for meals. Also, they did have quite a bit of Gift Shop (garden and plant themed) items that you would not normally find in a Foxtail Coffee. Really nice touch. read more

Dazzling lights was a great experience to walk around. It was a good mile walk around the grounds and took over an hour to see everything. They had live entertainment to see and lots of spots to grab a snack or drink along the way. The ticket on my wallet showed wrong address for the shuttle bus and a parking attendant was pretty rude. Found street parking close by and just walked instead. Give yourself time otherwise. I could see on a weekend this would be very busy. read more

Leu Gardens continues to evolve and shine not only as a perfect place for a nice walk but as a place to relax and learn about horticulture and some Orlando history. This time of the year is exciting because the seasons are changing and they are preparing for the up and coming Holiday Lights event. The gift shop has been replaced with a Foxtail Coffee Shop as well as Kelly's ice cream as well as a small shop with gifts to purchase. The deck at the lake is no longer there but the walkway along the lake has been enhanced with bird houses that resemble homes from different eras in the area and beautiful planters. Be sure to look into membership to this beautiful garden as it can be used around the country at other botanical gardens. read more

This garden is absolutely stunning! What a gorgeous garden. This garden gives off such a romantic feel. Great for romance, photography, wedding, holiday parties, date nights, and so much more! We toured the garden in the day time and then came back later in the evening for the holiday light special. The holiday light special was out of this world. I've never seen such a breathtaking and gorgeous garden light up spectacularly!!! We all just didn't want to leave. It was like we were lost in another beautiful country. Want a break from the Orlando the tourist chaos, Harry P. Leu Gardens is pure magic. It's one of those places that feels like a deep breath. It's so peaceful, green, and absolutely stunning. I have an event here every year and I think the gardens get prettier and prettier. The whole vibe is serene, with Spanish moss draped over practically every tree. The Leu House Museum is tucked inside the gardens as a cool historical touch to the experience. It's an old estate that gives you a glimpse of Florida's past. Absolutely worth a visit. read more

This was a really pretty place to walk through and see all their collections of native plants plus....they had the Dragons exhibit to find clues and relics throughout the gardens. I have to say I was looking forward to doing this and figuring it out. But I have to say I was very disappointed due to they only had one dragon statue to their Dragon exhibit???? I was hoping for more dragons to be included in this maze for finding the clues etc. instead there were other things that were ok but a bit more effort in the creative side would have been great! Don't get me wrong I thoroughly enjoyed walking through the gardens but since this was an emphasized exhibit I expected more. I love flowers, trees, roses all of it. I returned to the Dazzling Lights with a friend and had a good experience. Some of the light displays were weirder than last year. At one point, you're just walking down a dimly lit trail while speakers play random words in different languages. However, other displays made up for the lack luster ones. Our favorites were the light tree over the fountain, the ornament tunnel, and the blue and white tree lights. I appreciate how family friendly the area is and it's a great place to wander around with friends and family. The staff were very present and communicative this year. Similar to last year, a lot of things are expensive. It's $10.00 for a Swiss Miss hot chocolate. We splurged and spent $30.00 on valet. It was slightly more convenient, but I wouldn't do it again. Loved this Botanical Garden! Everything was beautifully kept and nicely identified. Paths were easy to follow with the map and pretty much shaded throughout with seating scattered around to rest if needed and plenty of restrooms. I will definitely come again. I came here to experience their haunting nights and truly had a nice experience. Not scary and very family friendly in my opinion. Only one jump scare got me in their maze area which was hilarious. Cute little photo op areas and a cheesy little alien shop that was interesting to watch. The aliens love Beyoncé and definitely slay their performance. I decided to check this out on a whim with friends and had a great time. They also offer food and drinks to sell throughout the experience. Only Feedback is I wish they advertised we wouldn't be exiting the same way we entered, I was hoping to grab some Kelly's ice cream only to realize we'd have to back track to the entrance from where we exited. Aside of that great time and appreciate the bathroom at the beginning and middle/end of The trail. Can't wait to check it out during the day for normal operations. read more

I was here for my mother's bday photoshoot and it took all that was within me not to wander off into one beautiful path or the other! This is the best gardens in central Florida. Provided many a cheap night for us. We would go here and we had passes before and im so sad they expired. Attended my sister's wedding at Leu Gardens this past weekend. It was incredibly beautiful. It took place through the rose garden near the water fountain. The ground keepers were so kind to send us a golf cart to hide the bride through the trails that were well kept. We strolled around to take pictures and take in the wonderful smells of fresh flowers. It was surprisingly breezy on the trails which was refreshing. Would definitely recommend visiting or hosting events here! read more

No surprise that the gardens are absolutely beautiful here. And there is such diversity in things to see. You can spend an hour or two just walking the shaded "woods" all along the perimeter taking in amazing trees, shrubs, plants, and flowers. I have no idea how they got all these varieties to grow in Florida! But these paths are probably 2-3 miles, very shaded, and a great place to be on a hot summer day. On and the camphor tree path is a must see (especially if you love anime!) Then in the center is the rose garden. Unfortunately not much in bloom yet in April but I've been when everything is vibrant and the smells are amazing. The small vegetable garden is pretty cool and the butterfly garden is a great spot for more flowers and the kids seem to love it. I have yet to do the tour of the house and I have no idea what's inside of it. There are several other nooks and crannies. Tucked in a corner is the arid garden with cacti and all kinds of amazing trees and plants. And the smells are very...funky! A lovely lovely place to go. I hear their Christmas decorations are amazing. They also have various "scavenger hunt" type of events with artwork to find throughout. The kids seem to enjoy that part. Overall, a must visit often type of place if you enjoy gardens. read more

We've now visited Harry P. Leu Gardens for both their Halloween and Christmas events -- and honestly, both were such incredible experiences in their own unique way! Highly recommend checking this place out no matter the season. Halloween Event -- Happy Frights & Haunting Nights We came here around Halloween and had such a fun time walking through the gardens all decorated with spooky lights, fog, themed displays, and creepy characters walking around for photos. It had a really cool vibe -- spooky but still fun and family-friendly. They had tons of photo opportunities everywhere and even live entertainment throughout the park. One of the highlights for us was watching the break dancers -- they were SO good and brought so much energy to the night! The whole event was super organized, the paths were easy to follow, and it never felt overly crowded which made for a really enjoyable experience. Christmas Event -- Dazzling Nights After loving Halloween, we knew we had to come back for their Dazzling Nights Christmas event -- and it did not disappoint! The gardens were transformed into a stunning winter wonderland with so many gorgeous lights, interactive displays, tunnels, and themed sections for photos. Every area felt magical and so well thought out. We really loved that they had live singers performing Christmas songs as you walked through -- it created such a festive and cozy atmosphere. It was a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit and enjoy a peaceful night walking through beautiful lights. Overall, Harry P. Leu Gardens does an amazing job with their seasonal events. I'm glad I packed snacks, plenty of water, and a blanket. After walking for a while we stopped for a small picnic lunch. It was windy, fresh, and there was so much beauty.
