It is ok, but mostly uninteresting fairly untended swamp, albeit with boardwalks. The rose garden was excellent and in alignment with what I expected, but was atypical of the rest of the grounds. The wedding venue looked like a nice place to get hitched. Admission was free, maybe they would be bettet off charging a few bucks so they could do more with the place. Popular with birdwatchers. I was expecting a higher percentage of manicured gardens and signage, but instead saw many toppled over swamp trees with shallow roots. We did feel safe there, not in sketchy area. read more

Mead Botanical Garden is a little hidden oasis in the heart of a Winter Park neighborhood. It's free to enter with plenty of parking onsite and multiple trails/paths to explore. We visited for the first time in awhile this past weekend with our toddler and he really enjoyed running around and adventuring through the gardens. I will say -- every time I've come here many of the walking paths are extremely muddy & marshy, so I'd suggest not wearing nice shoes. My wobbly toddler also tripped over roots/uneven ground quite a few times, so little ones might get messy. Maybe my timing has always been off, but there never seems to be very many actual flowers in bloom either. We did come across a beautiful rose garden with full blooms which were very pretty. There was also a wedding happening near the greenhouse while we were there. You can book private events and they do have a venue, the Azalea Lodge, onsite. There are plenty of picnic tables & benches throughout the property to sit and enjoy snacks or a meal. We saw lots of birds and squirrels which my son loved. Overall, this is a great place to get outdoors, move your body, and enjoy some fresh air. read more

This is a very beautiful garden with lots of paths to explore. Camelias were in full bloom when I went and they were so gorgeous. There's lots of varieties of plants and flowers. I noticed a yoga class taking place and some people had picnics or were walking their dogs or riding bikes, so it was nice to see that there's so much anyone can do here and explore. read more

This is an excellent place for a picnic or to bring your dog, but the trails are a bit muddy and wonky. There aren't as many flowers or decor to see for a botanical garden. Situated near winter springs is this massive park with so much to do. We started the morning by walking the entire perimeter of the park and were in pure amazement. Afterwards we went and watched the turtles go in and out of their homes. The park is so beautiful and well maintained. The perfect place to bring friends or family to have a gathering, bbq, or party. Plenty of flowers for anyone who loves color, and a huge field to toss a ball or frisbee, and beautiful ponds for anyone looking for wet nature. As an out-of-town traveler looking to kill some time, I loved this little park. There are some pretty gardens that were in bloom even in January. There is a man made creek and pond. I am new to Tai Chi and instructor Pamela was amazing, She made you feel so welcomed and taken care of during the class. We were in an outdoor covered Pavilion that was a perfect location. Today, my work held a training at the Azalea Lodge and it was a great location! There was enough room to sit about 100 participants and the chairs were comfortable for the 6 hours we were sitting in them. The only complaint, is the WiFi connection was not able to handle that many people on it. Other than that, it was a great place to host a work event! I spaced on getting picture from inside, but I did snap one right outside the lodge as it was too beautiful to miss! read more

First time coming here, I definitely wanted to get away from alot of the touristy overpopulated parts of the Orlando area and escape somewhere beautiful to clear my mind. Sure, it's a popular place but there was hardly any people here. This place is definitely worth coming here, there's so many amazing plants, nature and vast scenery to explore where your walk could feel like you're in a garden to a bayou to open fields. There's a garden too off in the distance. How could I forget the little theaters too for various events! My only thing I didn't like about my time here is that there seems to be old boardwalk trails but they are apparently cut off from everything and just left there rotting away. I am so happy I got to spend a few hours in the meet up botanical garden before it started to rain. The garden opens at 8 AM and it closes at dusk. The other great thing about this garden is that it's free! They have some parking right before you hit all the big trails and then they have more parking towards the garden club center. They have a little map that let you know where you are and where you parked and then it also has a detailed listing of all the exhibits and different gardens. I stumbled upon the butterfly garden and it was very fun and I did see a couple monarchs and a couple other butterflies as well. However next time I will definitely bring a bug spray as soon as it gets hot; I had to leave because the mosquitoes found me. Above all it's an amazing garden and I highly recommend if you want to do something fun in Orlando!! 10/10 read more

Recent wedding... my daughter got married here. Thought it was great, at first. In retrospect, she had an outdoor, amphitheater ceremony at dusk. NO LIGHTS. None. She said her vows in the dark. Lights are THERE, don't work. For the price, what the heck??? Should the party have caught it? Yes, I mentioned it 3 times, yet without paying someone, no light. We used the caterers they provide. Never got a piece of wedding cake! Not brought to our table. Others got it, not the bridal mother's table. Finally, recommended photographer from vendor's list... posed the wedding party throughout the reception, as opposed to candid photos. Everything. Flow of the reception was completely changed for the photos. Pose, pose, pose. Bride was late walking down the aisle for posed photos, even darker. To be fair, venue did offer 10 minutes earlier start to the ceremony. I kept out of most of the planning, but come on. I am sure the photos will be spectacular. read more

This was a very beautiful, simple surprise... we were looking for a local "hike" and came across the Mead Garden in Winter Park. Although we did not walk all of the trails (check the map on the bulletin board, as some areas are easy to miss), we were able to walk a couple pathways and enjoy the small ponds... additionally, a small picnic, while people watching, was the perfect ending to our morning at Mead Botanical Garden. We went to see a string quartet candlelight event at their Azalea Lodge. It was easy to park and we came early before sundown so we could explore the free gardens before the show. It is clear someone is taking care of the gardens to an extent but it may be because of the winter months that it was a bit overgrown. There were still a few places to enjoy and all the benches were still accessible for us while we strolled around. They have a cute little free library stand where you can take or leave a book for others. It's a free garden so I don't expect the level of upkeep that Leu Gardens has. The Azalea Lodge was a beautiful and intimate venue that was wonderful for the concert and would be perfect for a birthday or reception of any kind. It had a really nice side room that had sliding wood doors that can be closed which they used for a bar setting. Once the concert started they closed it for better sound. The lodge also had bathrooms. read more

This review is for Saturday morning yoga in the garden. I went today for the first time. I wish there were a few more signs pointing you to the location. Luckily, I saw someone dressed in yoga gear and asked her where the class was and she pointed me to the location. Once I got to the pavilion (the Grove Stage), I realized I was very happy I brought a thicker mat. The classes are done on an uneven stone flooring. I'm sure my knees will be bruised tomorrow. My advice, bring an extra towel to put under your knees when doing cat/cow. You can either book your class through Eventbrite or you can pay with cash or credit once you get there. The class was more of a gentle flow, which was nice and lasted about an hour. Bring water with you as well. read more

It's rare that a place like this is totally free. It has so many things to see and explore, a great place to relax, take a walk, exercise or bring kids for an adventure. Accessibility is tough so keep that in mind but they do have restrooms and they are accessible. There's creeks and a greenhouse, lots of flowers, butterflies, turtles and tadpoles. They have a summer camp for kids each summer and so much land to check out. There's lots of parking and overflow parking too for the busy weekends. Overall I would highly recommend it! read more

Mead Botanical Gardens is a lovely park in the Winter Park area. We went recently to meet up with friends to enjoy the nice weather and get some fresh air. There are nice walking trails, a boardwalk, a little creek you can walk beside, a pond area, an area with beautiful flower trees and statues, and a greenhouse that was open to walk through while we were there. There's also an amphitheater and a courtyard area with seating to hold wedding ceremonies. The park is well maintained (the bathrooms were nice and clean even being semi "outdoor") and there is no admission charge! The walking paths are easy and mostly shaded which is great for a fair skinned ginger like me! This is a great place to spend some time outdoors and get a nice walk in. There are also tables and plenty of picnic areas spread throughout the park if you want to make a day out of it. It's pet friendly as well so you can bring your furry friend or just enjoy seeing other people's pups walking about. I definitely recommend checking out this beautiful botanical garden. read more

This might be an unfair review, but it's legit. I came here with great expectations and with a idea to propose to my now fiancé of nine years. I heard great things and we visited in late December. When we showed up, it seemed promising, but the more and more we walked. We didn't really see anything. They're interested us and we're gardeners. there was neat little paths and trails to walk through different garden areas but there was a lot of construction going on and a lot of trails were closed and there wasn't very good signage or maps to use and it seems like nobody was around for employees and everything was closed up. And it was on 12/27/24, around 2 PM, so I'm really confused and probably won't come back considering that there are other gardens in the region that I'm sure would impress more (Leu gardens) read more

5 Stars for a hidden gem! I love Mead because it has a lot to offer and it's right in the middle of a residential area of Winter Park, so it truly feels hidden. As you park, you'll see a building, which is available for rentals for events. In fact, my sister booked it for her wedding reception! And right near the building is a perfect set-up for an outdoor ceremony- chairs, stage, and beautiful garden setting. You can wander around on your own and explore the gardens, filled with butterflies, birds, and bees, or head towards the amphitheater in front of a large field where outdoor concerts are held. I am a big fan of the Saturday morning yoga on the amphitheater level. It gets breezy and lovely and there's some shade cover as well. Overall, a gem and worth celebrating! read more

Large and lush with greenery, Mead Botanical Garden is a great place to take a nature walk. I've been here a couple times in the past for 5k runs, but recently took the time to explore it in more detail. There are trails all around the park, although many of them are not paved, so be ready for potential mud. Following the trail will take you past tons of trees and bushes. Flowers can be found in some small spots around the gardens, so be on the lookout for them (and butterflies). There is a nice stream and pond toward the back of the park that makes for pretty photos and a peaceful setting. Listen for the cardinals chirping and the wind blowing through the trees in this area. I would recommend coming to Mead Gardens on a weekday if you can, as the park is not nearly as crowded. read more

This 47.6-acre garden opened in 1940. Holly cow! The garden is free of charge, and so is parking. Honestly, this garden offers so much, I couldn't be mad if they did charge a fee. I don't know where to start. It's dog, bike, child, and cookout/picnic friendly. They have clean public restrooms, yoga in the garden on Saturday mornings, group fitness in the garden three days a week, volunteer events, pop up concerts in the amphitheater, summer day camp, and a duck derby in May. The garden also rents out the venue for weddings, parties, memorial services, and any other special events. My husband and I spent the afternoon exploring all the gorgeous nature this garden had to offer. I couldn't believe that on a beautiful Saturday afternoon there was minimal traffic. If I lived closer, I would be here all the time. We started in the parking lot and tried to work our way systematically from the right to left through the garden, hoping that we didn't miss anything. There were parts of the garden that were in desperate need of some weeding and clearing, especially by the boardwalk, but for the most part, all of the plants, flowers and trees were well maintained and thriving. There were many that I have never seen before, and I took a lot of photos, especially of those I am considering planting in my own garden this spring. There was ample shade from the trees and places to sit and reflect, read, or have a picnic. There were large ornamental rocks, benches, and a picnic pavilion. We observed a family having a child's birthday party, another having a family picnic, and a couple dressed in formal attire having a very romantic picnic, complete with a small table and chairs, a candelabra, and food and wine. It was very magical looking surrounded by all the flowers and greenery. There's a very green pond, but I've read other reviews that leads me to believe it may be clear at times to dip your feet in. There's a community garden next to the botanical garden that I found interesting, as I am in the process of planning one of my own. I took note of their setup, and herbs/vegetables that they were growing. I can't wait to come back; perhaps with my little pups, a picnic basket or our bikes.
