Just returned from Harry's excited about my new pipe purchase! The gentleman who was working was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I have been searching LA for the perfect place to go for pipes, pipe tobacco as well as pipe accessories for awhile now and Harry's is hands down the perfect spot! Stopped in for a cigar while in town on business, not realizing the lounge was for members only. Harry invited me to stay as his guest and even treated me to a wonderful fresh brewed espresso. I've been in a couple if times, and probably won't go back. I was greeted by a guy I assume is the owner. He asked what I was looking for, I answered "A cigar," and walked into the humidor, with him following me in a few minutes later. He stood off making like he was arranging cigars, but with his head slightly turned toward me, watching me out of the corner of his eye, like I'm going to lift a cigar or two. He doesn't say a word, but goes out ahead of me when he sees that I've made a selection. At the register I get a "Want it cut? Matches?" from him. I was almost waiting for the "you can't smoke here" too, but I had already seen that on the fairly large sign at the door... "Smoking here is for club members only" or some such. I'd just visited a cigar bar in Rapid City that had an equally wide selection, local craft beers, plenty of seating, and a friendly owner and her equally friendly dog to visit with. Too bad this place isn't half of what the others I've been to are. read more

I'm not a member of the place so I don't smoke there, and I understand their non-member smoke rule. I just go in to get my favorite stogie to enjoy later in my day. My husband is new to smoking cigars and a couple of days before Christmas I got the idea that a few cigars would make a nice stocking stuffer. I went on-line looking for a shop near my home and office in Burbank and found Harry's. I called to check his hours and he was warm and courteous. When I showed up the next day he walked me through cigar basics. After I purchased a few, he handed me a torch lighter and said "for your husband for Christmas" (I had no idea what it was, but turns out my husband had been wanting one - so an additional stocking stuffer!) It's obvious Harry loves his work. The shop is beautifully decorated and maintained - from the slate floor and overstuffed leather chairs to the deliciously aromatic humidor room. I'm going to check out his membership program - maybe that will make a good Valentine's Day gift. Never too soon to start shopping. read more

I walked in and immediately told the owner I'm a beginner. He was totally cool helping me pick out a cigar that he thought I wold enjoy. He didn't talk up the brands or try to up sell me. He just wanted to make sure I would have a pleasant experience with the cigar I chose. For those who've never been there and, like myself, are starting out, just be upfront and tell the owner you need guidance, and he'll take good care of you. Just know you can't smoke inside unless you're a member. But, who cares. You got the whole world just outside where you can blaze a fine stogie. read more

I just moved to Burbank and used Yelp to find the closest smoke shop. Harry's was around the corner and as I just needed some butane for a lighter I stopped in. I walk in and about 8 old dudes of some middle eastern descent are sitting around smoking stogies. As I continue into the store they all stare at me as if to say, "what the frick are you doing in here?" I smile at a few of them, nod and continue to the back of the store where the register is. I'm standing there waiting for about 5 seconds when one of the old dudes speaks at me from back over at the middle eastern cigar clatch. "What can I do for ya?" "I just need some butane," I tell him as he begins to come over to the register. "What kind ya need?" Doesn't matter, not picky." He reaches and grabs a large bottle and I ask the price. He says 8 bucks. I politely tell him I get that exact same brand in NoHo for 4.99. He gives me an attitude and says he doesn't have anything of that price. Me not wanting to go anywhere else asks for his cheapest bottle of butane. He hands me a tiny bottle that cost around 6$. I don't object to his prices but his demeanor was surly and non-welcoming. He gives me my total and I begin to get out my credit card. Who carries cash these days? He tells me there's a $10 minimum for credit cards and I tell him I just moved to the neighborhood, found him on Yelp and just wanted to pop in some place quick and easy. I suggest that I'll go somewhere else. Ultimately he takes my card and let's me purchase the butane but I paid double what the can retails in other places and was made to feel unwanted the entire time. My dad is a cigar aficionado and I get him a grip of high priced stogies at least twice a year. I know where I won't be going to purchase those items. I'll stick to the places that sell weed paraphenalia next time I need butane. In such places, the price and vibe are always right on. read more

If I can give a zero I would...just not a friendly establishment. Especially given the circumstances of how unwelcomed people are in any normal smoke-free enviornment, the owner shuns any non-members. He is not a "brother of the leaf" and has no concept of the humble culture associated with other people who enjoy a fine cigar. I would have been more than willing to pay to buy his over taxed product in hopes to enjoy a cigar in the owner's establishment. But I was coldy turned away and was not given any information about how to become a member, most likely because I was younger and profiled by his prejudice. read more

I was there awhile ago. Overpriced and customer service lacking and pretty much all the last bad reviews talk about the same thing .

Harry is an extremely warm and welcoming proprietor. I don't know much about cigars, just stopped in for a gift for a friend about to have his first kid, he walked me through his well-organized and sweet smelling humidor to help narrow down my search. I ended up getting one of his special limited edition blends for myself, can't wait to relax with it this evening with a glass of wine and a wagging tail. read more

The smoking lounge at Harry's is members only. Nevertheless, I have been a customer here for nearly two years. Harry has a wonderful collection of limited release cigars as well as his own, incredible "private reserve" line rolled exclusively for his shop. He has a very nice shop with a great humidor with great selection, including several vitolas of his own brand of excellent Dominican sticks. Harry is very meticulous in his selection. If you are a beginner he will point you in the right direction.

It's tough to find a cigar lounge in this area. I called the shop and spoke with the owner who invited me over. He explained it is a private club but with an out of state license I was welcome for an initial visit. Came over bought a nice Pardon 1964 was offered an espresso and sat with a great bunch of patrons. read more

What can i say? I love this place! I'm not the most experienced cigar smoker but Harry is always willing to help me find the right blend. He is very knowledgeable and answers any questions I throw at him. I also recommend trying his signature blend from Fonseca (Harry's Reserve). Its a great stick at an affordable price.
