The cat is awesome and the owner or who I think is the owner in the back always seems nice. The girl at front I thought was just miserable. She usually ignores me, doesn't offer to help, and seems genuinely miserable to be there. If you try to be friendly and nice while checking out.. she offers no warmth. But I actually had some questions and she was visibly annoyed. She was incredibly dismissive and straight up rude. I honestly was shocked bc I have been in there multiple times and spent a nice chunk of money and I was spending a nice chunk that day. I want to clarify I am overly nice and even while she was being rude I kept trying to win her over with kindness. She was arrogant, snotty, rude. and just overall very very bad vibes. I don't even want to light my dressed candle I got bc I feel like nothing about her is positive. There really aren't a lot of spots to find things around here like this but I am definitely not going back. It's unfortunate because I was genuinely ready to commit to some pretty big purchases in the future but the girl at the front counter is genuinely so rude I cannot fathom buying anything spiritual from a place with such a negative energy sitting in it. If your into Spirituality this is definitely the store for you. I was very intrigued by Harry's World and I was glad I went into the shop because they sell great items for a reasonable price. Harry's World is a medium size shop that sells chakra candles, healing crystals, soaps, oils and many more. Harry's world offers a huge variety of incense which I absolutely love. I believe incense has the ability to soothe my soul after a long and hectic day and I ended up purchasing a meditation incense. Harry's world also has special healing crystals which I would I would definitely return to read more about. I saw one in particular that is used for protection of my energy so I definitely will return to pick that up as well as a love candle. New fave store! Great selection of stones and crystals - I found my rough ruby and when I mentioned to my friend I was into tektites, the owner handed me a container from Indonesia. All kinds of trinkets, jar candles at a great price, herbs... everything you need! Plus the shop cat is super sweet. As for the owner, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Catch their flash sale online and received about 10% off my total purchase. I ordered around 9:30 am and my order was ready for pickup around 12:30pm. They have a wonderful selection of spiritual herbs, 1oz bags ranging from $3-3.50 per bag. I grabbed some lavender, spearmint, damiana leaf, rose petals and slippery elm bark. I havent been here in years --since the old location. Before it changed owners . Ok so let me start out by saying that if it were up to Vu--this would be a great store and get 4 stars. However --the young woman behind the counter --was absolutely. Miserable . Rude, ineffectual and seemed as though she truly resented having to be there in the first place. I left with about $27 worth of spell work ingredients so I wasn't window shopping . With every simple question I posed--simple ones --"have any palo santo in stick wood form ? " "Where would black obsidian be ? "Would it be ok if I reach up there and grab one of those peacock feathers " --she seemed more annoyed . Vu on the other hand --was super duper friendly and I would suggest putting him at the counter , as that young lady has no business in a customer service Role. As to the inventory , the prices are inconsistent across the board --some things more expensive than expected and some less . Novena candles were as high as $7.99 and up and I can get them at Walmart for $1.29 The housemade tinctures and oils --I found myself wondering who created them . I make my own regardless but in a pinch who knows? They were a bit steep. The candles , herbs , crystals--they had a good variety for starters --and were reasonably priced. I put back a pretty peacock feather that was (5.99! Whutttt Sally ??) I would stop in again for sundry items. A recent trip east included a few nights with friends in Philly. The city is always about to get better, but lifers I know from the area don't want it "better" thanks. Anyway, there are a few stops I made while here to see, like, "whatever happened to..." one of which was to check the actioin at Harry's Occult Shop. But like many things, Harry's is gone and replaced by this pale wannabe of its former self in a shop half a block east of where the original stood for about 100 years. My own time in this city came long after Harry Seligman departed the world but even then the original location had seemed unchanged since the 1920s. This new version almost makes one embarrased to have ever taken Obeah or Hoodoo or, in my case Scrying, seriously. Most of Seligman's business was based on West Indies immigrants who lived in the area and were looking for items they needed for various potions and practices. Harry even formulated his own versions such as Cast Out Potion, Money Drawing Incense, Confusion Oil, Love Lodestone, Bad Luck Powder, etc This place sells extracts, herbals, candles, crystals and such but, like the rest of Harry's World, these lack the essential element Magick. I can't speak to the effectiveness of the rest, but crystals I held lacked any sense of power, mystery and the hammer of the gods. What we have now is more like a nice suburban bookstore selling pretty cards, semiprecious stone jewelry, odd kinds of cosmetics and a lot of hocus pocus. How different before, the clientele really believed in what they were buying but would have had to spend a week's pay to buy anything in this location. The market has obviously gone upscale and is faraway from those original patrons. But loss of authenticity and community is one of the prices to be paid when an established old and poor neighborhood gentrifies into something that outsiders would think of as "better". read more

Jimmy, the consultant, was and is great. Genuinely there for you. What additionally is amazing is that jimmy's intuition, when I last came by to seek his consultation, occurred as he predicted. He stated something would happen at my job and it did. But as a worrier I had him do some work. As many of you know this is not the 'old' harry's occult shop from yore. This WAS a mainstay of Philadelphia for many years. From what i understand the original owners just disappeared. To wrap that in a basket, this is the NEW harry's. They have many of the previous varieties of item from how i remember it. Candles, incenses, oils, stones. As well as many other things like: body scrubs, lotions and for whatever reason package pickups. Yeah, you can have your phone fixed and have a package delivered there to boot. so you can see why I feel like the change modernized the place. I can say i still feel like the quality of the items here are high, but i am beginning to wonder who dresses the candles any more. If you are an avid buyer such as myself, you know at some point you could have a specialty candle 'dressed' (you know what that is) and well i don't have any idea who does it anymore. When i picked mine up today it looked (and felt) way different than the other candles i have purchased before. My last harry's original candle was in about 2013 so i know what the candles intention were then. lucky for me, after coming back from New Orleans, i learned how to give a candle a sense of purpose. This one needs some work. Either way my experience WILL vary from yours. This is just my way of explaining how different yet the same the new joint is. bottom line is I will keep buying from this store because i know they have my interest without much effort. Excellent selection and friendly staff. Its very chill in this store. My go to for Sage sticks and other smudges like Palo santo, resin incense and ever cedar sticks. I love their Crystals too! They always got some good deals on stones . Some of my favorite product are the orgonite by Superior Life Energy too. Definitely will be back for more stuff soon! read more

Would give 5 stars had customer service rep was welcoming. I was excited to explore this shop on my journey of spiritual shops in Phila. So once I got to HW had found many items I was interested in but the energy in the store CHILE, I get hype/excited in Science shops so if I ask the only employee about a stone, beads, bowls, candles, herbs, etc. I would not expect you to have knowledge in all of them but at least have some info about the items in your shop. I was tempted to drop my resume off to the owner cause I would make sure your customers have great interactions with their patrons, It is all energy. If you have a shop with great prices and unique items such as Harry's World especially if the item is speaking to you, but the energy is off in the store, that is a missed sale. The store gets a 3 star for the young woman at the register who was extremely smug and appeared irritated I spend a good amount of money when I go into the store but thanks to the young woman at the register I will definitely be looking into making my own oils and buying my incense and other items online. I brought someone with me and they were repulsed by the blatant disrespect of the young woman at the counter. I walked in and me and my friend weren't greeted but a group walked in and she greeted them. I really Dont want to think it had something to do with the way we looked as oppose to the people that walked in but she only greeted them and the other people that came in after weren't greeted and they were of the same hue. It is a disgrace. The gentleman is cool but the young woman is bad for business. She appeared irritated when asked a question and will give you a half ass thank you after you spend your money. I guess she views certain people as undesirable. I brought someone there is patronize the store but they will not be returning. Every customer is a paying customer and should be treated as such.
