This was a random, amazing find during an exploration of Madison Ga. The atmosphere here is top notch. Classic pub feel. Cozy. The staff is amazing. Every person we talked to was fun, funny and just a joy to hang with. Harlow was great (bartender). She concocted this olive spin on a Hugo Spritz. Wife absolutely loved it. For me the bourbon selection was great. Got to try a newly opened Old Carter. Also dabbled in the Shackleton. Figured some exploration with one of the greatest explorers. Both were great. Finally the food. Every thing we ordered was absolutely delicious. Massive truffle fries (called chips but more like logs lol), don't sleep on the Gouda Mac and cheese, farmer fresh sliced squash and my meal, the 12oz steak on a bed of Peruvian mash potato's with shiitake mushrooms rounded out with asparagus. Stopped in one evening for a meal and to relax a bit after a hot afternoon. We were welcomed walking in and seated promptly. A classic pub interior, heavy wooden details and comfortable. We started with their Bread plate, a nice serving of fresh bread and a good start while waiting for our meal. I ordered a Black & Tan and it was not that, this is a traditional pub pour, with guiness and bass ale, with a distinct break between the two porter on the bottom and the ale is floated across the top. There was no break in my serving and it was not a traditional B&T. After giving the concise menu a look, I opted for the Fish and chips and a side of their Gouda and mac. Fish and Chips, Haddock, whole potato wedges tartar and ketchup with a lemon wedge. The fish was prepared very well, the potatoes like home style and the mac and cheese very good, rich creamy and tasty. The Haddock was a nice large filet, breaded lightly and tender. A good meal. A lot of folks the night of our visit ordered the Fish and it is obvious its one of their signature dishes. Was here for lunch today. They place was clean the staff was nice. Some thing for everyone. The food was good. There's one thing I didn't understand. So i ordered the fish and chips. And on the menu it said hand cut chips with my fish and chips. I did not receive that . So I'm thinking bait and switch. Thinking you're getting one thing then it comes out and it's totally different but yet you pay the same price for the meal. I'm thinking that since I didn't get what was quoted on the menu that there would have been a price difference. But there was not. Just a little disappointed. In my meal. After having such an incredible experience at the Dining Room, I was kind of psyched to try one of MAD's other offerings. Work happened to bring me to the area, so I decided to stop in to Hart & Crown for lunch. Their beer selection is decent for a British pub and service was good. I ordered the Wild Boar Bolognese. It's not what you would typically order at a British pub, but it looked so good on the menu, I couldn't resist. I should've stuck with the tried and true dishes. The sauce was one step up from store-bought sauce in a can and the Wild Boar tasted more like overcooked beef chunks. I didn't bother to finish my food or take home the leftovers. I know you sometimes can't judge a restaurant negatively off one experience, but I'd have to say I'm not really compelled to try this place again nor could I recommend it. read more

We have enjoyed this restaurant in the past but tonight was a disappointment. The hangar steak frites was inedible. Tough, chewy hard to cut and charbroiled flavor. It was served at the proper temperature and the frites were good. The server was inexperienced and made no offer for recompense. The Mac and cheese and lobster pasta were good. read more

The service is slow however they are very polite and do try hard to keep up. I enjoyed the drinks and food very much I will be returning for sure. Searched Yelp for a restaurant to stop at on our way to ATL. Hart & Crown Tavern had excellent reviews and the menu looked tasty! Cute pub in downtown Madison- adorable town! We came around noon for lunch on a Monday, was not very busy. Our waitress was excellent and attentive. I ordered the crab cake sandwich- really wasn't impressed with the plating, was pretty underwhelming when I saw my dish. However, the sandwich was delicious and I really enjoyed the fries! My husband was disappointed as they were out of the pork belly for his PLT sandwich, so he opted for fish and chips. He wasn't a fan of his dish but I loved my sandwich. The restaurant is stylishly appointed, and tastefully blends a historic look with a clean and modern kitchen viewable behind a glass partition. Plenty of parikng available on a Thursday night. Ate here after the Georgia football game, and very glad we did. Had the Fish & Chips which was the best we have ever had. This has become our go to place!!! Everything is made in house. EVERYTHING... including the sour, infused sugars, behind the bar. Rebecca the day bartender is creating and bringing back those flavorful drinks of prohibition time!!! With freshly infused sweetness and hand squeezed sours. A good selection of bourbons, gin and vodkas. Ask and she will be creative. If there is a problem do not hesitate to talk to Neil... he will fix it and make sure you are happy. Scotch Eggs.... hand made and always served with the runny yolk. Sausage coating is full of flavor.... Chicken Pot Pie... loaded with chunks of chicken and potatoes. Bangers and Smash.... Fingerling potatoes and sausage.... All smothered in a garlic butter sauce. Fish and Chips... Very flakey batter, cooked to perfection.... The BEST thing on the menu.... hands down... Lamb Burger. Never had one before this one... and oh my goodness. Juicy, filling, bun with just the right amount of toast to it...... hard to imaging ever going back to a beef burger again. What a great find! Started w an old fashioned, absolutely spot on, I will admit I put a lot of weight on an establishment based on how they make an old fashioned. I ordered the bangers and mash, talk about savory comfort food. Potatoes were creamy, the sausage had a great balance of spice and fresh herbs. The sauce tied them both together perfectly. We sat at a table in area and were waited on by the bartender. Even with several patrons at the bar he balanced his time with us well. Interior was dark in a good way. My daughter (who was starved) and I went to have dinner here Friday. We walked in behind a group of 3 who were being seated. Though the manager saw us, he walked right by us when returning to the front to address a mother and son who walked in after us (and who had confirmed that we hadn't been helped yet) but gladly took their place in front of us. I asked the manager to be added to the list but this was met with a surly, condescending response. I was ready to leave and never would have stayed had my daughter not been so hungry. As we watched him seat the mother and son and yet another group that came in after us utilizing an algorithm incomprehensible to me, I lost my appetite. I never would have stayed, but my daughter was hungry, so when a couple of stools became available at the bar, we decided to sit there. He never checked on us or asked if we still wished to sit at a table, despite telling us we were next (after he sat all of those who walked in after us). I fail to understand the treatment we received, because we said nothing to him after asking to put our name in. I spent $120 on drinks and a hamburger for my daughter and wish I hadn't. The only bright spot was Tory, the bartender, who was the opposite of the manager. Very disappointing because I truly used to like this place. This place is so quaint and casual. There is a couch and a couple of chairs in the bar area. Cool place to hangout with friends and/or family. There is a great selection of liquor and beer. The service was great, waitress was attentive and helpful. But this is where my meal went wrong. The burger was bland, no flavor. I couldn't even taste the grilled onions on it. The patty's seemed to frozen patties, and the used processed cheese on top. I would definitely recommend NOT getting the burger and the owner/chef needs to think about this. We had a great dinner experience here! The tavern is warm and inviting with exposed brick and a fireplace. We ordered the following: Lamb burger- this was tasty but a bit over cooked. The side house salad was fresh and delicious with a lemon vinaigrette. Fish and Chips - these were PERFECT. The fish was fresh and the portions had the right amount of batter. You don't even realize you're eating a vegetable! For dinner, I opted for an order of Fish & Chips for $21.00. The fish was the best fish I've ever eaten in an order of fish and chips! Went in on a very busy Saturday lunch with my mother-in-law. I noticed in a prior review that someone mentioned asking a server about a 2 vs 4 top - this is a common practice in the service industry, as you don't want anyone to be overwhelmed with tables. Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone who didn't know because I can see how that can come across to someone who doesn't. The server handled this lunch rush very well - food came out as fast as it could, all things considering because everyone seemed to have come in at once to put their food orders in. The restaurant is stylish and the ambience is perfect. But get ready because that is as good as it gets. We waited an hour fifteen for basically a "Wendy's Double Cheeseburger and two salads with one salad missing the cheese. They delivered the salmon for the salad 5-10 minutes after serving. They did comp the salad. The service wasn't great. When we walked in the hostess asked the waitress if she wanted the four top. She looked dead at me and said no I would rather have a two top...nice. A lunch for cost $80 with tip and if they didn't comp the salad it would have been $100 for a bad hour and half experience. I would normally say they had an off day but watching the manager maybe owner Lolligag with others in the kitchen I have a feeling this is the norm. What a gem.. Love that we have this kind of quality, so close to our very small town. The bartender Nick, made an exceptional "Old Fashioned"... (a drink we love to challenge all over the country). Nick nailed it. The food was amazing, we sampled the truffle chips, the Brussels sprouts (holy crap... the flavor!), and the gouda Mac and cheese.:. Wow! Also split the lamb burger with the side salad. Incredible quality top to bottom.. we thought we'd have leftovers but everything was so delicious that we couldn't help ourselves but to eat it all.
