Cutter's Pub is a very fine dive bar located in the heart of downtown Athens. It has a split personality. During the day, it's a handfull of townies and the occasional tourist like me. At night, it's often packed with UGA undergrads. The bartending was great both of the times I went during the day. I would say friendly and on the ball. It has a very good selection of Bourbon. Happy Hour is where it's at, especially on Mondays. Drinks are cheap during happy hour! They open at 2:00 p.m. during the week and at 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays like a lot of places in downtown Athens. My rounds were double Weller neat and Creature Comforts Tropicalia as one does. Cheers! read more

Living in Athens, I wanted to find a bar where it's causal and fun to watch games at. They don't serve food, but you're more than welcome to bring food from anywhere else. They have a wide selection of drinks and draft (I like their ciders). I've never had a bad experience here, and if you want more of a fun vibe, their upstairs is great! They do have some seating, but if it gets really busy you might have to stand most of the time. read more

Got drinks here before the Georgia, Mizzou game. Lots of Mizzou fans here. We were wondering if this was an opposition pub for Georgia games. We're Mizzou fans. Everyone was very nice and welcoming here. Very good service. We walked around and discovered the upstairs Tiki Bar, very cool. It was less crowded upstairs so we sat there and enjoyed our drinks and the music. Of course they had the other college games on. Not sure I'll be back in Athens but we'd return here if we ever come back. read more

This is the place to be when coming to Athens. Great location and great bartenders. The owners of cutters are not trying to reinvent the wheel. They were perfecting it. Door staff is friendly and the bartenders get to know you. They have a little tiki bar upstairs and a pool table. There is even a fenced in area out front where you can hang with your dog and have a drink and do some people watching. read more

Ok beer selected and the bar staff appeared uninvolved. Yes it is a large bar but they did not pay attention to guests.

On New Year's Eve, we went to this bar and were charged twice for one beer. The next day, we asked the staff to check the charges, but the manager was unavailable and told us to return later. When we came back, the manager again said he couldn't help without the financial officer, who was also absent. We provided our bank account and phone number but received no updates after two weeks. After another visit, we were once again told to return another day. Now a month has passed, and we've heard nothing. I find this process unfair and would advise against visiting this bar. If you do go, check your bank account right away to avoid double charges. read more

Best selection in alcohol in the entire area of Athens. The widest selections of beers also. Environment is well suited for all ages above 21. It is an all purpose Irish Bar with a circle top social bar atmsohspere. Solid spot for a great drink and to sit back with a good crew. People from all over should come and visit at least once! I ended up going to Cutters quite a lot near the end of my days in Athens. This place has a much older crowd than most other bars in Athens (and by older, I mean like 25ish) As a result, it's always much less crowded than most bars in Athens, even on a Saturday night. One of my favorite places to chill out! They have a pretty good selection of nicer liquors and a few good beers on draught. The staff is also very friendly and the bartenders are knowledgeable. My only complaint is that people sometimes smoke in the back area (even though they're not supposed to), which is hell for my allergies, not to mention my clothing! read more

This was my Thursday go to bar while I was undergrad. I visited here to experience some nostalgia, and did I ever! I was also shocked to find they had added an upstairs, and I have no idea when they added it. I haven't been in years! Dollar Yuenglings on Thursdays, and gets pretty packed as the night goes on. Interesting people watching goes on upstairs, there is a dance floor and another bar upstairs. Definitely go if you get a chance! read more

Ah, Cutters. It's been almost a decade and very little has changed besides the copper plating behind the bar and an improved dance floor upstairs. The bathrooms still smell like bleach, the beer is still cheap, and service is done with a smile. I'm also a big fan of the big screens hanging over the bar. This was a great spot to watch Georgia whoop up on Ole Miss. Plus it wasn't nearly as packed as some of the other "Game Day Bars" so it was easy to get a drink. Came in on a Thursday Evening. Music on the second floor was pretty lit and crowd was fun. Drinks are reasonable price.

Great bar. Had 2 expertly crafted martinis, a 15 year Balvenie whiskey, and a local porter for only $29. Bartender took extra time preparing drinks and asked several times how we liked them. Good laid back vibe here. Highly recommend. read more

Your no-frills, dive (ish) bar. Ifnyou want good drinks at even better prices, this is your spot. Admittedly, I am not an Athens native or a UGA student, so they probably have a different take on the "scene" here, but I like coming here to relax. Interestingly, I usually end up here on a Monday, which is great because their Happy Hour has about eight different craft beers for $2, a list of bourbons and whiskeys for $2.50, and $3 Jameson shots. So...yeah, you could do much worse than Cutters. Not to mention that if you have too much (whatever *that* means...), it is within walking distance of Little Italy. read more
