This is a beautiful, luscious, & spacious 56 acre community park has been here since 1933 ! We stopped by on our way to Old Towne Orange Historic District's Antique shops. They have a horseshoe area, and for me, these overlapping trees are gorgeous. - watch video clip! In this day and age especially & regretfully, we just have to make sure that our surroundings are safe, and that's why I made sure to include the picture provided. I've been coming to Hart park for around 15 years playing softball. I've lived in the area now for about two and this is the first time I've walked here and really explored the whole park. The park has a lot for everyone to do from two softball courts, two tennis courts, a football field could also be used for soccer, horseshoes, a huge pool, tons of places for party's or family gatherings. Lots of shade. There does seem to be an increase in the homeless population at the park, the whole south west side has quite a bit including by one of the softball fields and under the bridge. This park and tennis courts would be awesome if they maintained it and actually enforced ordinances. Instead, there are cracks all over the tennis courts (of which there are two). Update: 10/23 Clean and inviting. Santiago walk and bike trail is great for long runs, easy biking, and scenery enjoyment . A bit of homelessness can be seen, but nothing to worry about. It's a wide open park with lots of free parking. There is also a community pool and a large baseball diamond. lots of open space for barbecues and 2 main trails for running the West trail leads back to the city and the East trail leaves towards the Santa Ana river trail. The park is safe, clean, and inviting. Update. 10/2019: It's still a lovely park to visit and hang out. During the day... be careful on the further edges of the park, ie..the freeway area... a few homeless people will be in this area...often asking for handouts or soliciting help. Careful restrooms. Don't go alone...shady people are sometimes found here. Careful with people riding bikes at high speed, those with backpacks and regular clothes... often can be hazardous when walking along sidewalks. read more

Review solely on the concerts in the park on Wednesdays. Parking is a little nightmarish because even though with the large lot they have, it will be full 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert. They will make you turn around and tell you to park on the street. There are plenty but for the parking closest to the bandshell I believe you park off of Glassell. (If you can find one that is) The concerts are great, even with kids running around. Since we got there about 20 minutes prior, we scored seats way in the back by the entrance of the pool. BTW, the bathrooms are here as well and they're not as dirty as people say. For a public bathroom, they are rather clean. The sound was terrific, we can hear it farely well. The mayor of Orange will say a few words and there will be a collection box that a volunteer will go around so you can add to it or not. There's food available from the Kiwanis I believe. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and that type of food. But for concerts in the park, it is always best to pack your own picnic like the popular fried chicken, pasta salad or sandwiches. There's lots of grass areas here. The park grounds is well taken take of. I like it here and I will be back. read more

This is a huge park that I have lived near during different times of my life. But, we have the opportunity now I am living back nearby to enjoy taking walks here and seeing all the action this park has to offer. This park is very historic. I never knew this until we stumbled upon a sad looking signage placed on an old looking pile of bricks near the Glassell side of the park. The sign reads that this park was built in and around 1935 ish with the help of the WPA (the works projects administration during the great depression) and finished in the coming years thru the late 1930s. There is great classic architecture all over this park and some cute old timey stuff they just don't put into modern parks. There is lawn bowling, tennis courts, baseball fields, a football field, swimming pool, a concert bandshell that is so damn cute and many other fun paths to follow on a walk. They do concerts in the bandshell in the summer months on Wednesdays! I am hoping to attend this summah! You can find all sorts of people doing all sorts of things in this park. Lots of sports, walking, and activities and a popular spot for weekend birthday party get togethers because there is a huge spot with picnic tables. The place where you park your car if you drive to this here is actually a channel that when it rains all this water pours through and spills out into the Santa Ana river and then out to the ocean and you can look up old pictures of this channel flooded out and you can kind of see on the pavement where the water has dug out. Its really interesting! The other side of the park connects to a fun bike trail we've taken several times. I really enjoy living close to a cool park where I can enjoy the outdoors and walk myself around. read more

Horrible sports park! There is no handicap parking for anyone who is handicap. Restrooms had sketchy people going in and out.

This Park is very dangerous. The young football players attack people while exercising and walking. I have yet to see Police Squad travel to the Park for security because there is no security. I have personally been attacked twice a few months ago I went up to the Emergency Room in an ambulance. The Police could not find a way to get into the upper level because all the entries are tightly chained up. It took them 30 minutes to get to me, and in the end, they lost it to the barbaric hooligans. 20m of them on bikes riding the bikes on the sidewalk and harassing pedestrians. Yesterday 5/23/2022 I was attacked by thee juveniles, males of Hispanic heritage, who were exercising. The caused me of taking their pictures. I show them my phone but they still were not satisfied with that. Calling me names "Fagoot" and "bitch". That's how they learn from parents and teachers to behave themself. Besides, I was protected by First Amendment. And I am a semi-pro photographer, I take tons of pictures in public as it is my right. And I am familiar with Photography Laws in Public. But this juvenile has a lot to learn. Not using telescopes or any devices that would give close-ups of the person. I am also a Senior citizen. I was literally afraid that they going to kill me. They also told me don't come to "my"park "bitch", I mean the three of them the only vocabulary coming out of their mouth was, "bitch", "faggott". I am 65 years old and I felt this was Hate related attack on Senior citizens. So now I am afraid to go to my favorite park, I have been walking in that park with my friend for over2 years. So please allow American Citizens to walk and take pictures in peace. And provide some sort of security and or Police drive three more often. Actually, I have seen in 2 years only one time a Police cruiser drive to the park. Besides that, the two bathrooms are not particularly available as there is always someone sleeping in them or doing drugs. It is very scary. read more

Decent park, come here on occasion with my dog. I've seen the changes through the years. Perfect place to play a game of football, soccer, etc. They have a few softball fields, which they use for a soft ball league ( not sure about now). Lots of trees, benches, play areas for the kiddos, community pool, and a small amphitheater. I have noticed the number of homeless people camping either in their vehicles or around the park. The parking situation is weird. It's kind of in a moat (no water, of course!) around the park. If you've never been before it's kind of hard to know where to park in order to be close to the area you want to be because you can't really see into the park. The equipment is a bit old, but is fine. The floor by the playarea is covered in wood chips, but there are tons of bugs and flies in it. There are toilets right by the play area, so it's convenient. What is the point in having a lap pool if you only offer lap-swim 2 hours a week for 2 months out of the year?

Since moving to Orange, we have been loving going to this park to sprawl out on a blanket and read. Hart Park has everything you could need in a park; plenty of grassy areas, baseball/softball fields, sidewalks for walking or riding, and enough parking. During COVID especially, it has been awesome to get out of the house and soaking up the sun. Be sure to check it out if you are in the area! read more

Its a nice sports park also, we watched youth baseball play on this hot summer day. Lots of shade, green grass and park tables to enjoy your outside activities. Not a good place to bring your kids it seems-- Hart Park is located on Glassell st, just north of the 22 fwy and south of old town Orange, you can easily see it from the freeway. From a distance its a beautiful park with multiple softball fields and plenty of area for picnics, parties, etc. My review is solely based on the kids play area. I have no problem with homeless people whatsoever, I am the first person to buy someone a hot meal or hand out some change if I am approached correctly. What I cant tolerate is groups of homeless smoking ciggie after ciggie less than 15-20 feet away from the slides and swings and allowing their dogs to just roam around un-leashed. And what the capper was is to see my 2 year old almost picking up dog ( or human ) poop in the wood chips they place around the slides, probably left by one of the un-leashed dogs. I started to transform into a Super Saiyan, so I just left promptly. I wont be back ever, and it's too bad there were so many nice parents floating around. 104/2016 read more

You have to take a swim test if you're under 4ft but people who were over 4 ft were having to take it! One mother was angry that their child didn't pass the swim test. The workers at the pool are so rude and strict! You can't do anything in the pool! The kids are playing tag and it's "rough play" to them. Then some kids were playing dunking games and they said u had to have your head above the water at all times! How rude, you can't even do anything in the water but stay standing in it and that's it. Seemed like they had the pool segregated by race, the POC were in the smaller pool that was 1-3ft and the others were in the bigger pool with the diving board that went up to 11ft read more

Come here on occasion with my little one. She likes the swings and we sometimes walk around the park. She likes the sight of kids in the pool and perhaps soon I will take her for a drop in swim class. She likes the little amphitheater. She climbs and walks up and down the stage. It's a cute park that may get packed with tons of people and vehicles. There is a trail heading towards the Santiago reserve park, which we like to walk sometimes. In 1933, the City of Orange bought 17 acres along Santiago Creek east of Glassell Street. Over the years, Orange and other cities have connected nearby parks by means of a bike trail along Santiago Creek. Nowadays, you can ride or run from Weir Canyon Trail in Anaheim Hills through Hart Park to the Santa Ana River trail, which runs to Huntington Beach. That's 25 miles of trail with almost no exposure to cars. You'll be quite safe, and most of the route is scenic. I've ridden in Hart Park at least once a week for the past 5 years alone on my mountain bike. On weekdays, the park is not crowded. The police maintain a reasonable presence, and I've never seen anything more than a few homeless folks who don't seem to bother anybody. I moved to Orange County from Cincinnati around 10 years ago, and it always amazes me that more people don't use the parks out here. Why stay indoors? Why drive somewhere to exercise when it's always beautiful outside? Maybe it's for the best. I'll just keep enjoying my mostly empty trails . . . read more

I started coming here when my daughter signed up for a dog obedience class for our pup. I had heard of the park before because my kids have field trips here but had never been here myself. It is a very big park with playground, two swimming pools, tennis courts, volleyball, horseshoe, baseball fields, big table recreation area and more. All these areas are well kept and you can tell people come here on routine to enjoy. The park is clean and green with lots of trees. Nice to walk your dog, exercise or have a picnic with many areas to choose from. The parking area is huge but I had a hard time finding how to get in the first time. The entrances are off of Glassell by the 22 freeway. It is one opening for people going north and another for those going south on Glassell. You turn into a driveway that leads you below the street into a big parking lot. I will continue to come here. read more

I have been frequenting this park lately as I discovered through my morning runs down Santiago Creek that it is very green, clean with lots of people just doing their own thing. Hart Park has a tennis court, basketball court, a couple baseball fields and lots and lots space to let your dog run free. This is NOT a dog park and your dog must remain on a leash but that is one rule I will break (shhh don't tell on me).
