So when I tell you poor Genesis at the front desk managed the several calls I made trying to get my son signed up and booked for lessons this month with all the patience and professionalism in the world- I mean it! She was very kind and graceful as I navigated the app and many schedules of the household over the phone. She thoroughly explained the current promo they have going on right now and ultimately got us all signed up for what we needed. We had our free trial class with Chris last week and I was so pleased with how friendly, soft-spoken, and patient he was with my son. My son didn't even want to go into the water for the first 10 min of the 30 min class, and Chris just continued to ask if he was ready, all the while still holding lesson and staying attentive to the other child who was in the same class. Eventually, my kiddo felt confident enough to join in and by the end of the session he was having an absolute blast. We appreciate all of the staff and instructors at this school. They're all super kind and patient with every student, and they have the amazing ability to keep watch over every kid at all times! My daughter loves being here, and really learned so much after about four classes. She's already floating on her back all on her own, and able to push off the wall to swim towards the instructor. Super special shout out to Christian, who is her main instructor. He's been so patience and aware of all of his students. Also, Perry and other substitute instructors are just as great, which ensures consistency. The facility is well maintained and very clean. Absolutely worth the money! I put my two and three year old in and they guide our kids through the initial stage of crying. They not only teach our kids, but their instructor Jose has become a good friend to them. And it's great because our kids speak Spanish as their first language and Jose instructs them in Spanish. If you are an adult trying to learn how to swim I do not recommend this place. I paid 134 dollars for 4 lessons at 30 min each. The instructors are great but the techniques and length of swim time aren't very helpful. I called to cancel my lesson on September 2nd because I didn't feel I was learning anything but they said I was supposed to call by the 25th of August to cancel. Although apparently it's in the policy I am miffed that they won't refund me the money because I was a couple days late even though hadn't used their time yet. Long story short not a good place for adults to learn how to swim and their policies are outdated IMO. @Jen B Six classes and I still don't know how to swim a credit to a place where I haven't learned much seems useless. A suggestion for you to help everyone is to send a reminder email letting the customer know that renewal is coming so they can reply letting you know they won't be renewing. Thank you read more

We have been with Australian Swim school since our daughter was 6 months old. She is now 2 in babygrad. We started at their Fullerton location but then moved and had the chance to switch to the Santa Ana location, which is great. All of the coaches are so sweet and she's learned so much and gained so much confidence. During our move we briefly tried a different chain swim school bc it was closer to our house and couldn't believe how chaotic it felt so we quickly returned and started at the Santa Ana location. I feel like I need to update this review! Can't believe it has been over 3 years and we're still here for swim lesson needs. Oh yeah! Worth the drive, effort, and at times tardiness aka barely making it to class. The owners are informative, nice, organized, and email communication is efficient to keep you up to date. The staff are also knowledgeable and helpful. Easily approachable. It's a family business that has been around for a long time. Makes ups are flexible. We've seen the business simply get better over time. So happy for them! The facility is big with a lot of swimming sections for various classes. It's also clean and bright. Towels are provided along with heated areas for your little ones and changing rooms for privacy and of course open showers and bathrooms. We never wanted it to just be a summer thing only and wanted weekly consistent classes that build overtime and lifetime. This time around we've added an additional kiddo to the classes. We've seen immense improvement in skills and confidence in the water. Very happy with this place and would recommend it to anyone. read more

I want to be honest and positive here as I definitely want to be constructive. We were greeted and took a tour and it was all great. Then the class started and I could see there was a lot of awkwardness from them and the instructor. I think quite honestly, if you are new, your children are older, or didn't start here as babies, then, it's a bit of a struggle for everyone: students, teachers, and parents. I can understand it's one thing to teach littles who laugh at the silliest of jokes and a completely different thing to teach pre-teens who are taller than their own mom. Perhaps the free trial lesson would be more intuitive if it was a free private assessment instead of a lesson. My children took lessons at the YMCA pre-pandemic and I wanted to get them in formalized lessons to help get them re-acclimated. They are new. It's our first time here. How does this all work? Is it typical to have 2 teachers and 4 students in half a lane? Their teacher was doing make-ups and asked my kids if they knew how to freestyle. Told them to wiggle under water. My daughter said she kept saying all these weird words and not explaining them. They didn't know what she was talking about so I think it was the right choice that instructor called another instructor. I went to the office during this time to try to understand the format, the other instructor took them to their own swim space at that time. Two young men tried to help me understand the formatting and they were sweet and tried really hard. Overall, I appreciated everyone's time here. I appreciate the trial. If you have older kids who were not born into swimming or you have older children who had the desire to learn to swim with technique, maybe this isn't the place for them. Consider a private lesson to avoid the awkwardness that's so prevalent in this age group. We came in excited but left a bit embarrassed, insecure, and discouraged which was to no fault of of the instructor but maybe a little more of the introduction isn't set up for older kids. I left my number so I could speak to someone about options and the like, but the experience seemed to have shaken my kids' confidence. This is a great place to start your teenie beanies off, and they will grow into competent swimmers. Just not a great place for us and my my kids interested in swimming. I am deeply grateful they were pulled out of the group class to assess their swim knowledge better. But the first 10 minutes really rattled them and it was disheartening to see their excitement fade. While the instructor made suggestions in the end, after my kids slept on it they came to me the next day and said they didn't want to swim anymore. I'm going to give my kids some time and try again at a community lap pool or another facility. Get your kids in early to swim. Babies, if possible. read more

After experiencing lasting negative effects on my daughter over the past few years, I'm sharing this review to prevent other parents and children from facing similar issues. ** The owner, Diane, falsely claims that I received compensation. In reality, I requested a refund for the month I had paid for services that my daughter did not receive. I did not seek compensation for the trauma or the lost items that my husband sacrificed while rescuing our daughter. Please check the camera footage from June 24, 2021, as it seems this important evidence might have been overlooked. I'm deeply disappointed with our experience at this Australian swim school in 2021. Although I didn't post a review at the time, the negative impact on my daughter has lasted. Additionally, Jena (Jen) the manager frequently had her babies in the front office and would often ignore parents. During a lesson, instructor Luis left my daughter unattended, even though she had just moved to a higher level and was in the deeper end of the pool, despite knowing her previous fears with another instructor at the same swim school. He failed to ensure she reached the edge safely and did not provide adequate supervision, There were 4 children in his group when they had promised the maximum of 3. He didn't notice when she struggled and was at high risk of drowning; my husband had to jump in to help, with his phone and wallet in his pocket, because Luis was distracted by another child. None of the staff, including Luis or Jena Tague, checked in on our daughter or us after the incident I even had to request towels for my husband, they left us feeling neglected. I also emailed Cale Bainbridge but his response was delayed. I had to email him again. As a result, my daughter is now terrified of swimming. We've had to enroll her in a different swim school to help her regain confidence, but it's been a struggle due to the traumatic experience at Australian Swim School. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I hope no other child has to go through this. read more

My kids (5 and 8 yrs old) have been taking weekly lessons for 2+ years. In the beginning, my son refused to go in, cried for about 2 months, and I was ready to cancel his lessons. However, the director was so kind and patient and would go in himself if he was there to ease my son into his lessons. His fear eventually dissolved, and he blossomed into an elite swimmer. Never go here if you expect any minutia of professionalism. We had a trial for my daughter and Cale (young grasshopper owner/ COO) signed us up after my toddler daughter took a liking to one of the female older instructors. We signed up according her schedule for a Friday 4pm trial. When we arrived the following week, she was out sick. We never got notice about this and were assigned a young inexperienced female instructor who scared my daughter and then asked if this was her first time in the pool? I called Cale to voice my frustration and left him a message. He never called back. We got rescheduled for the following Friday, and was told we would get a call if she doesn't come back yet. Before going this second time, I called to confirm the instructor is there today. Nope. And we didn't get a call either. I called Cale again and he finally called back as rude and unprofessional as the staff he trains. Waste of time. Many other bad reviews. Be warned. In reply to Jena - we spoke. Thanks for the sorry not sorry reply. You're again missing the fact that Cale scheduled the trial with your female instructor. The policy you cited doesn't apply here. We didn't get a call when she was out sick. Moreover, when we spoke today you misstated that she was still out with an MD's note for her sickness. It seems like nobody knows what's going on around there. There was nothing rude about calling everyone out who was unprofessional. These snowflake egg shell personas were inadvertently cracked hence the defensive measures. No one called last week nor today. And Cale doesn't like to return calls or deal with conflict. All a part of business if you want to succeed. The instructor we were assigned did not know that this was my daughter's first time in the pool. What part of that is highly trained and professional? As a result we yanked my daughter out of the pool bc she became frightened. You should learn to use criticism as a tool to avoid repeating the same mistakes. To clarify, I did not just pay them some classes and sit back expect them to do all the work to please me and my kid. To be able to get the instructor that my son liked, all I asked them was showing me the availability and I would make it work. They told me Fridays 12:30pm. I happily dropped everything on my calendar to make it happen. I told them many times before I signed up this consistent schedule that these were my son's very first lessons and that I dropped everything to take him here for the time, "please tell me if anything happens that the instructor cancels the class so that I can tell my son and give him an option to go in or not" (It's the school policy as well FYI). After all the cooperation I did, they failed to follow their policy TWICE while they had plenty of time to inform me that the instructor cancelled the class. I felt like a liar to my son considering the very last second before the class started, I still told my son he was going to have a great time with the instructor he liked. I know we need to teach our kids the flexibility, going with the flow. However in this case, these were his very first swimming lessons, I do not see the point of forcing him to right away get in the pool with different instructor every time. I contacted Cale (Chief of Operations - the son of the owner) and he did not care to respond. I tried multiple times to work with them on the issue but they did not cooperate. In their policy, the front desk staff suppose to tell us who the instructor will be at check-in. They failed to do so TWICE. I clearly told them after the first one that I know things happen, all I need from them is to let me know so that I can tell my son and give him a choice to go in or not. I am totally fine with skipping a class, no need for refund. They had plenty of time to tell me but they did not care to do. Disappointing experience. Lack of leadership, disorganized staffing and front desk. Different teachers every week, and teachers not showing up. I signed up my 6 yo for private swim class because he doesn't know how to swim, and I thought he would benefit from one-on-one better than a group setting. In the 3 and a half months that he's been taking weekly lessons he's had the same teacher only twice. Almost every week it was a different teacher. This is not helpful to build trust and confidence, which is very important when learning how to swim. Not to mention, every new teacher had no idea what my son already knew. I gave it a chance the first few weeks thinking they were having scheduling difficulties. When I finally asked the front desk, I was assured that week's teacher would be his same teacher moving forward. It wasn't. When I brought it up again last week, the director came over to assure me THAT week's teacher would be his teacher moving forward and he would personally get in the water with my son the next week. He agreed that it wasn't technique that was keeping my son from learning, but that it was trust and confidence and not having a regular teacher does not help that. He even went so far as to tell my son that he would get in the water with him. Well, today was the day and not only did my son have a different teacher, but the director was nowhere to be found. Last week's teacher WAS there, but I was told she had to fill in for another class whose teacher did not show up. Bottom line - there is no leadership running this school, management is in shambles. The front desk and scheduling are completely unorganized. The director had told me that 3:30 pm was a tough time because the teachers were coming straight from school...meaning they are all kids. Which is fine, because 2 or 3 of my son's teachers were actually pretty good and I think he would have done great with them had they been given the chance. But many don't seem to stick around past a couple of weeks. One week, my son's teacher never even showed. In my confusion, I asked a teacher standing nearby if he was my son's teacher that day and he said he wasn't but since the right teacher didn't show, he could go ahead and teach my son. I don't think the front desk was even aware of this situation. Also, it's hard to get through via phone, no one returns voicemails and emails are replied to days later...if you're lucky. First of all let me just say that I am very impressed that they are still around and still good at what they do! My siblings and I used to come here when we were babies for a couple years. Fast foward to now and I signed up my oldest son for lessons here and he loves it! His swim instructors are Jonathan & Courtney I am beyond impressed of how great they are with having the kids feel confident being in the water and teaching them. The staff is all overall really friendly and helpful with any questions or concerns you may have. This is an indoor facility which keeps the pool heated at a great temperature so it's not freezing cold year long! ***When enrolling your children do keep in mind they will not learn to swim with just 1 lesson. There are many steps and techniques you must learn before jumping into just swimming. I've seen some of the reviews people leave after just trying out the lessons for 1 or 2 times and you honestly cannot expect your son or daughter to be a pro swimmer within just a couple weeks of lessons. Everything takes time and patience and step by step the children will learn more techniques & be great swimmers. We started in Nov in Fountain valley. The staff in Fountain valley was very kind which is why they get 2 star. But this company closed down the location with zero notice. They do not refund you the make ups. You have to inconvenience yourself to go to another location to get a make up. The classes at the santa ana location are jammed packed with 5-6 kids in a group. The staff does not return phone calls. If you want anything to get done you have to keep calling them. The swim space is so small I have no idea how the advance group is supposed to learn anything. With the fountain valley location gone this place is definitely not a good option for us and it won't be for anyone that likes to feel like they get their money's worth. We brought my daughter here when she was 7 months old! She loved the water just not putting her head in the water. We stayed here for about 8 months. We had 3 different instructors. - A young lady with brown hair, she was amazing! She was attentive, helpful, & patient with little ones! - A middle eastern young man. HE WAS THE BEST! He was caring, really passionate about his job, & made sure everyone's experience was done right while having fun. - Super tall white young man with blue eyes. Although he was charismatic, I don't believe he should have taught babies. I watched him interact with 4-5 year olds & he seemed to do well with them but he had no patience with little ones. A lot of mom transferred out of his class! this is when I decided to leave. The facility is nice! Well lit, spacious, & changing rooms are very open so it helps when your significant other is there to help you & your little one change out! I would have given this place 5 starts if it wasn't for our last instructor. We have since then transferred to the location in Anaheim. It's dim, the pool is not as accessible with a little ones, & the changing rooms suck but the instructors there collectively seem to be a lot better! read more

Mr. Courtney is an amazing instructor! Very patient and understanding, my 8 year old Sea Horse does very well with him! Don't recall the pme instructor for tuesday 6pm but she's amazing too! Where to begin. We should have known this was going to go bad. As soon as we arrived the instructor did not even introduce herself to us or our child. As the "lesson" continued it became apparent that the "instructors" were more interested in discussing their personal lives and continuously checking her apple watch for messages than to bother teaching my child how to swim. It got so bad that my wife went to the "site manager" to complain and let them know what was going on. The last straw was when she attempted to have my child swim to the edge without gauging her skill level and down she went with mouth loads of water. At her subsequent lesson now at a different swim school and the trauma is clearly showing as my child is in fear of drinking water. Thanks for nothing Australian swim school. I've been taking my 4 boys here for a few years and always had positive experience. I like that they have a lot of classes so all my kids can go at the same time rather than me having to wait for each kid at a time. They are also very flexible. When I sense my kids are in a good mood, I would ask them if they can do a make up class and usually if there's space available, they would accommodate. Some of their swim instructors are exceptional. They really engage with the kids and teach them good form. read more

This post is not to bash this place or deter people from coming but more to bring awareness to parents. If you sense micro frustration from the instructor i recommend you switch them to someone else as i will be doing based on our experience earlier this week. While attempting to do a back float with his instructor, my son started crying with pain which i thought it was the typical being afraid,not ready, or may have swallowed water until he stood up and i saw his back. I was fuming when i saw his back, although the instructor said it was an accident, i dont see how something this egregious happens!? You are supposed to use your hands/palms not claws. I have had a good experience with other instructors like vivian and leslie but this one instructor seemed frustrated and it wasnt the first time so i will be requesting a change, this place is not cheap so i expect quality and caring interactions every session from every instructor. read more

We had a great experience at this school for my 18months old. Very structured and organized compared to our experience at Aqua Tots. They did not rush or waste time within the 30min but felt like we got a lot of good techniques out of it! Our instructor was great- Miss Carson or Jose!!! The only concerning thing that happen during our visit was another instructor in the pool with older kids started drowning and the instructor did not see what was going on since he was turned to another kid. Luckily the child's dad alerted his instructor and he helped him get out. read more

Great swimming facility for children from 6 month up. The pool are heated and they have amazing program for every age. I've been taking my 15 months old son to this place since his 1 year old birthday and he loves it! The instructor are amazing, really professional , frieny and they know how to interact with children which is great! If your child missed a class you can make it up another day and time as well. The only thing I do suggest to the school is , some of the front desk staff are not professional even rude , please work on the way they communicate , because is unfortunate to have this amazing school with a bad respective. read more

They thought of everything: heated pools, heated showers with high and low showerheads, heated changing tables, heated towels, and sectioned off areas for class levels. One thing I'd like to see is lockers but since we hardly have to bring anything but our kids, it's not going to turn us away.
