From the first phone call I made, to the greetings I got when I arrived, to the excellent conversation I had with the Doctor, and all we shared about mutual interests in light, podcasts, studies etc. To picking out LITERALLY the two best ( and most expensive) pair of glasses I have EVER had and I have been wearing glasses for four decades. I love the classy styles they have and I have never picked put glasses more quickly ( honestly, there was one other girl that was gushing about the glasses that were picked out for her, and I decided to choose those as well along with another pair) I cannot wait to get them in!! I wanted to comment on a EVERYONE but especially the girl that went the extra mile to make my appt "fit in" and she said she'd help out, if needed, because I have upcoming foot surgery that will keep me out for awhile. I also want to thank EACH PERSON in the process. I don't recommend this office at all. They told me they accepted my insurance but after the exam they sent me a bill and told me they don't accept the insurance. I had asked when I called to make the appointment and they again asked when I came for the appointment. They confirmed both times they participated with my insurance (Priority Health). When I called to get clarification on the bill they didn't want to accept any responsibility on telling me I would be covered. After several phone calls trying to get this straightened out with rude office staff, I insisted on having Dr. Doud participate in the phone call. His office state was rude and berated me and told me at one point, I was just trying to get out of paying my bill, he interjected at one point and basically told me he stands behind his staff and what they tell me and that I was out of luck and to pay up for they would send me to collections. At one point the girls in the office were screaming at me and he never tried to diffuse the situation. So basically even though they told me my exam would be covered, I was billed $280.00 and expected to pay. I ended up paying but will never go to this office again. Also, in discussing my situation with several of my coworkers, 2 other girls had similar experiences with that office. Mind you, our office has about 16 people in it so that is a lot of us with the same complaint. read more

I've been to a few eye doctors in my day and Hartland eyecare is by far the best! When I brought my daughter in to ask about sports glasses, Dr. Doud suggested she try contacts that she sleeps in at night. Within a week she had perfect vision. This has literally changed her life! She sleeps with the contacts in and as a result does not need glasses or contacts during the day, while playing multiple sports and school!! Why do more people not know about this????!!!!! I was disappointed in the thoroughness of eye exam. it was "Wham Bam thank you Ma'am". I was use to much better from the provider at my former residence. The selection also left me unsatisfied. I incidentally stepped on my glasses purchased from this office. I stopped in to hopefully have them repaired (not anticipating they'd be fixed that day). The day I stopped happened to be a Friday, (and they close at 1:00) it was approximately 12:10. I was told they could not be repaired, but that I was due to order glasses in January (it was September). Somebody didn't want to take the time to make the repair! And she lost a family of five as their customer! I sent my glasses to a mail-in facility and they were fixed as if I'd just bought them! I no longer use Hartland Eye Care. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. The short version: it has been almost two months and they still have not given me a script for contacts. First of all, they were an hour and a half late for my appointment. I had to take off an entire afternoon from work, instead of just a long lunch, to sit in their waiting room. The Doctor finally sees me and rushes through the exam, barely letting me focus my eyes in between lense changes to determine my script. At his point, I ask if we could slow it down so I can determine which lense provides a clearer view. The Doctor completely brushes me off, as if he seriously couldn't be bothered by me. Then, they insist I walk out trying with this certain brand of contacts. I ask if I could please be fitted with the brand that I've used and loved for the last year, because I had tried their recommended brand before and it dried my eyes out. I'm told no, both by the Doctor and the Office Manager, and that if I don't like them I can come back. I explain to them that I travel frequently for work and am only in town visiting my parents, so it's not easy for me to return just for more contacts. Again, I'm refused. Sure enough, the contacts they insisted I try made my eyes dry and itchy by 5pm each day. So, I haul all the way back to the office when I was in town a month later to pick up samples of the brand that I originally requested. The doctor was not in the office and I was told he was up north already for a long weekend and so "couldn't fit me" but they assured me it wouldn't be a problem. Wrong again. I call two times requesting my script to order contacts. Once I finally get it, it is for the brand that irritated my eyes, and I am told I have to return a THIRD time, making another appointment just so I can order contacts. At this point, I remind them that I don't live in Michigan, that I had told them all of this before departing my very first appointment, and that they've continually lied, leading to this scenario where I now have no contacts and no way to get a prescription, since I wasted my annual visit on them. They say "sorry" but there's nothing they can do, that I have to come back in if I want to be able to order contacts. This office, especially the Doctor, does not listen to patients, and is only interested in racking up visit and fitting fees. Don't waste your time, money, and insurance on them. Go somewhere, anywhere, else. read more
