I went ahead and joined AARP, went to my exam and when found out that I had cataracts. I knew that this was my situation as I was told that they were starting 3 years ago at my exam. All of this should have been in my chart as I was a long term patient. Went to check out and I wanted to process through the AARP. They insisted I needed to run it through my BCBS Medical deductible plan which I knew I would end up paying out of pocket as I had not met my deductible. Today I received the bill from them for $141.57 for the eye exam. When I called to discuss the situation, Karen in billing was not at all helpful, but she was rude and condescending. I switch off from regular glasses, to prescription sunglasses year to year. They have the lastest equipment and don't have to dilate your eyes with sticky drops to complete a full exam. They offer a warranty on your lens for $20. No questions asked, they'll replace them. We'll worth the $ especially when you have kids. Doesn't cover the frames though. Plenty of parking right outside the door, along M52. They give you eyeglasses cleaning solution and a cloth with every order. Free refills when you bring in your empty bottle too. He also stated that the lifetime warranty may not have applied to the tool I had. I have returned tools under warranty to many other stores who have lifetime warranties (old Sears, Harbor Freight, other Ace stores) without any problem. All this person had to say was, Sorry, we cannot help you. While I would have not been happy about that, the rudeness and attitude was just plain wrong. I will continue going to Ace stores, but steer clear of this one.
