Had my first visit with this office earlier this month on the recommendation of my parents who have been going for a while, and I patronize the OB/GYN in the same building. The receptionist was very friendly and took care of my paperwork quickly. I sat in the waiting room for maybe 5 minutes before being escorted to my exam room. I had to wait in the waiting room longer than I would've liked, but I'd had a book so it wasn't all that bad. The doctor, Heather Collins, did apologize when she came in citing some acceptable reason for her tardiness. Dr. Collins was fantastic. She's bright and cheery and was great with answering all my questions and going over different scenarios. She promised to follow up with the results of my tests because, "No news isn't good news, you just don't know!" The office followed through with calling me upon getting my results from the lab. Will definitely make this my primary care provider. Up until now, I'd only ever gone to my pediatrician (from about 2 months old to the current ripe age of 24), which he is totally cool with and said I can go until he's retired, but something about having to sit in a waiting room with snotty, possibly swine flu infected kids is not at all appealing anymore. read more

The last review of rthis practice was written when Heather Collins was still there. It has become a completely different practice now. Staff and Doctors are harried and rude. I called to have a perscription renewed 3 times over a period of 7 days before it was filled. when I mentioned my concern over not haivng my medications I was told that they had over 4,000 patients and I should call in sooner if I'm going to run out. Even my pharmasist told me they don't return refill requests in a timely manner. Doctors don't return calls but deliver messages through their rude and uncaring staff. I overlooked their bad behaviors quite a few times before saying enough. I suggest you keep looking. This doctors office will be closed no doubt with this type of patient care. read more

In Oct 2012 I went to this place because they were the closest to my house. I went once for a physical that should have cost me $0 out of pocket as per my insurance plan... However, they took a co-pay from me (which I had to get back from my insurance company), they did the physical, ordered blood work and that was that... Everything seemed OK other than that... However, about a month later I got a bill for $1300 from the hospital that this place is associated with... The bill was for the blood work... I called my insurance company, they said that the doctor coded it as one thing and if they had coded it correctly "routine physical", there would be no charge to me... They said I need to talk to the doctors office and have the resubmit the claim as a "routine physical"... Call the doctors, they said they'd take care of it and that if I got another bill, I should let them know... I did get another bill... I spoke to the doctors office again, they said they'd take care of it... I got another bill, this time for $75... Better, but still not $0 as it's supposed to be. Called the doctor's office again, they said they'd have someone take care of it... I called my insurance company, they called the doctor's office to help them do it right... I got another bill in April of this year, this time for $65... We're getting there... But again, still not $0 as it's supposed to be... Called the insurance company... They said that they still have not received a corrected claim from the doctor's office... Called the doctor's office, they said that I have a $0 balance with them and that if the bill is from the hospital, then it's between me and the hospital... Mind you, I've never been to that hospital, the only reason I have a bill from that hospital is because this doctor's office sent my blood work to them... The doctor's office basically told me to piss off... I owe them nothing and they have nothing to do with it... She said that she had several "specialists" in the office look at it and there was nothing they can do... The hospital tells me that since the doctor's office billed it the way they did, that's why I owe the money and the insurance company said that they would pay it if the doctor's office would resubmit the claim as "routine physical"... The doctor office refuses to help. I even told them that I'd start writing bad reviews anywhere I can and that obviously, they had enough business that mine didn't matter... Do NOT use this practice as primary care physician!!!!!!!!! They originally referred me to a psychiatrist due to my depression and lifelong struggle with adhd (which I struggled with since I was 8 years old). this referred psychiatrist coached me through struggles with medication and therapy which changed my life. I was able to get a buisness degree in college, and for once in my life didn't let my handicap define me. However, this psychiatrist retired due to old age, which his soon to close practice suggested reaching out to your "primary care physician, for temporary medication management" and i took that advice which lead me to call Hartsville medical, and OMG I never have felt so humiliated and treated with such disrespect, by the receptionist Sherry( or Shirley)... I said hi, my psychiatrist retired and his practice recommended me to see my primary care physician to make an appointment for temporary medication management until I see my psychiatrist(as was also recommended by the new practice I called to cover my medication until my initial appointment) and if needed I can release my medical records to you and she said didn't you call the other day? (Confused) I was like no...and she was like oh no!! There is no way we would do that for you! Call your insurance card since their is no way we can do that for you, no way(her tone of voice was so excited to turn me down) the worst part is the meds from my retiring psychiatrist, we're originally prescribed from this practice! All I did was followed the medical advice of my former and new psychiatrist just to be rejected and treated like dirt, it boggles my mind that they felt zero obligation to see me and refused to give me an appointment. Please do yourself a favor and learn from my experience and find a pcp that cares about your situation and will be there when you need them, and that's anywhere but Hartsville medical!! read more
