Highly Recommended for Authentic Ramen! I was looking for an authentic ramen place in town, and this spot came highly recommended--it did not disappoint! The Ramen: Truly authentic. You can tell by the broth, which tastes 100% homemade. It's not that MSG-heavy style that makes you want to drink a gallon of water afterward. I tried three different kinds, and all were outstanding. A standout was the cold noodle with a side of dipping soup--so interesting! You soak the noodles in the soup before eating. It might be a love-or-hate dish for some, but I found it unique . A Note: If you prefer a heavily seasoned, traditional American-style ramen (on the saltier side), this might differ from your expectation. Their flavors are more balanced and nuanced. Also Tried: The sushi was good--not outstanding, but reasonably priced with good portions and a fresh taste. Dessert Lovers, Listen Up! You must try the Fried Ice Cream. It made me feel like home! Probably the best sushi in Ft Wayne.... So underrated. I am so glad I found this place. Decent prices and great quality rolls. Rolls had minimal rice and they were definitely filling. I also liked that they had iced green tea and it was pretty strong. I forgot the names of the rolls, but you can probably tell from the pictures that you won't go wrong choosing Haru. Servers were nice and when I came it was pretty quiet. It's really close to the mall too, so I was able to walk off some it. Ha I also had the mochi ice cream for dessert, pretty generic but a great end to the meal. I would totally come back! read more

So good! Service was quick and accurate. I asked for no cucumber and no green onions in my roll and it was delivered perfectly. The baked salmon roll was so tasty, the salmon was baked just right! I like how the imitation crab is chopped up and not just a crab stick as I have seen at other sushi places around the Fort Wayne area. We really enjoyed our dinning experience here. The facility is large and wide open. The staff is friendly and wants to pour service all over you. The facility is located across from Glenbrook Mall and next to a strip joint. Don't let that deter you. The outside is very plain and older. Inside is nicely decorated in Japanese motifs and welcoming. We started with the fried gyoza. I thought it was overly fried and tough to eat. The filling was delicious. The soy sauce mixture was were tasty. The Dynamite Roll was very tasty. It was messy to eat so we had to resort to a fork. The scallops were delicious!! Very soft, tender and slightly grilled. The roll was soft and fell apart quickly. The sauce that covered the roll added a great flavor that blended everything together. The Crunch Roll was a bit more of a traditional roll. The shrimp inside was moist and has a nice seafood taste. The outside crunch was a bit of a mystery. It was a finer powdery set of tempura pieces. These stuck on the roll briefly and then fell off. I felt like all my "crunch" was left in the plate instead of on the roll. Overall...the sushi was very fresh and innovative. The price was about what you would expect. Give Haru a try! read more

I've been reading the reviews on this place and finally had the opportunity to try it out on a chilly January Friday evening. At first glance, it appeared clean and up to date and certainly casual. We waited 10-12 minutes for a table and you could tell they were understaffed and not wanting to seat everyone even with open tables. The staff was rushing about and trying to make the best of it and I appreciated their attitude and attention. Warm sake to start along with edamame and some of my new favorite crab Rangoon. It was a small portion for the price, but the taste more than made up for it and would certainly order again. My wife is trying out gluten-free and was provided a separate menu. I dove into the vast sushi menu and made my choices. The menu contained many different items and preparations, so if somebody in your party isn't a sushi fan, there's plenty to choose from. As a recently introduced fan of tuna, I truly may be abandoning my 'shrimp or salmon' sushi days. Being a lover of savory, bold, and acidic flavors, I've always had a hard time enjoying my orders at sushi restuarants. (Hence, the Spicy Seafood Udon Pasta I ordered -- which is SO worth it if you love spicy noodles. They'll make it as hot as requested, but you beter hope you can handle the heat ) Carpaccio was a dish I never could have imagined, and I'm thankful for the introduction! While this dish is traditionally served as thinly sliced beef, we were thankful for the variety of fish choices and landed on the tuna -- thinly sliced and topped with tobiko, white onion, and wasabi, while sitting on a light layer of yuzu sauce. Now, I'm not a fan of sweet dishes, and while I was a little timid to try tuna in a sauce that was described as "sweet and citrusy", this dish was a delicate kiss of sweetness. A small drop of sweet in an ocean of savory, my perfect ratio of 75% savory, 25% sweet.. a dish I'm going to search for at every sushi restaurant moving forward. Really cute little restaurant and atmosphere. It was a quick stop for us before we had to check in for my son's camp. Everyone from the sushi bar greets the customers as they walk in and as they leave. Very hospitable environment. We were quick to order and food came out super quick. Great variety in rolls and entree options. We got the crispy tuna rice app, which was delicious. I got some nigiri with the day's special, toro and Japanese scallop. Very fresh and good sized portions. We got a couple of rolls as well. My son got one that was is tempura battered and fried on the outside. Very light, not as heavy as I thought it would be with being battered and fried. Great little spot! read more

Initially we were impressed by the large menu selection, especially their rolls, however the noods and sushi we had here was very middle of the road. We've done enough intercontinental travel sampling ramen and sushi to get a grasp of rank. Suffice to say it's not the worst but it's not the best. Ambiance is modern and tends to draw a younger crowd. Service was good with servers checking in on us frequently. I didn't enjoy the fact that they had single occupancy bathrooms for a restaurant that can easily hold 50. They have an adequate sized parking lot and it's near the main shopping drag in Fort Wayne. read more

Our latest visit had Nodoguro and top-grade Uni. It's very easy to splurge as much as you would in a high-class omakase here if you're not careful. This is the ONLY place you should be going to for sushi in Fort Wayne, seriously. After a very disappointing experience at other sushi establishments in town, my partner and I decided to take a trip over to Haru to try and find our "spot" for sushi; as new residents, we were hoping to find a good place to satisfy our sushi cravings. Immediately, we were impressed that the interior was clean, spacious, and modern. The menu was surprisingly larger than we had expected, and we had our order taken and served very quickly (and we had a friendly server!). Everything was comparable to sushi I've had in Japan, and it's definitely in the top 3 of places I've had in America - the fish was fresh, the ratio of rice to fish was perfect, and the flavors were balanced. But my true test of "is this MY favorite place now" is trying a Japanese restaurant's chashu bowl (if they have one). This is one of my favorite dishes, and I'm honestly very picky about my wants for it: including red pickled ginger, having the perfect sweet soy sauce, etc. WOW. They did it. Just visited this spot yesterday during lunch time. It was pretty quiet and the music wasn't playing too loud. Tennis was on the tv. It was fine until I noticed there were flies flying near our food and the wait staff kept bothering us (3 different ones talked to us). They were overly helpful. Seemed like they had nothing better to do or they didn't want us to enjoy our meal. It was also weird when we were already using our chopsticks to eat and a wait staff member asked us if we wanted forks? Felt unnecessary and we weren't struggling to eat with the chopsticks. Overall, didn't like being bothered constantly and drove us out. The food on the other hand, was good, but felt a little overpriced for the portions. I wish there were more noodles and broth in the ramen for such a shallow bowl that cost about $20 a bowl. The flavors were great and I was impressed by all of the accolades they received, displayed on the walls. However, I wouldn't order or visit this establishment again read more

This place was pretty good. Appetizers: Crab Rangoon and seaweed salad. Both were really good. Especially the crab Rangoon. Entree My daughter and I got a bowl of classic ramen to share. It was pretty good. Could have used some more broth and a little more salt. HEAVY on the garlic. Which is totally fine by me! :) Sushi rolls: My daughter got the Golden roll. She asked to have cucumber added. The waitress said she could, but turns out, she couldn't. I got the ultimate salmon roll and I asked to have eel sauce and spicy Mayo added to it. They put it on my daughter's roll instead. Not really a big deal. As someone who loves a sauce on my rolls (spicy Mayo, sriracha, eel sauce, teriyaki, etc.) I was bummed that not a single roll had a sauce on it. Waitress was attentive and friendly. The fish was pretty good/fresh for Midwest. The fish size was decent on my sushi - not huge but thickness was good. The rice was pressed together a bit too hard making the sushi rice on bit chewy, but it was okay. It would have been nice if they threw in a miso soup with the Haru special plate($32 meal), but the food portion was already good without it so no complaints. I also ordered chashu bowl, and though the flavor was wonderful, I was disappointed with the amount of chashu. They could have added a bit more chashu to make the rice to chashu proportion better. This is one of the best places in Fort Wayne I would recommend you to go get their ramen. Their ramen are very good and well-flavored. Their sushi are okay, there are many other sushi restaurants that have better sushi. I've been here multiple times but there is this one odd thing is that you waitor/waitress brings food out a little at a time. If you come with other people, the food will come out at different time. I don't like to start eating when my friend doesn't have her food because it is rude. The timing of serving food can be improved! Other than the service style, everything is good here. read more

My husband and I have been here a couple of times dining in and the food and service was good. However this time we did carry out for the first time and did not enjoy it as much. I'm not sure if the menu changed recently but all 4 sushi rolls were falling apart and did not taste fresh. Then when paying for the food the hostess swiped our card, clicked the 20% tip button and handed over the credit card machine for a signature. Now typically I'll leave a tip when carrying out however not 20%..... My husband confronted him and he responded with "oh i didn't know I pressed the tip button" and didn't bother fixing the issue. So just be beware of your bill when checking out. Overall, I don't think we'll be back. read more

I love this place! They have fantastic weekly fresh fish options that change depending on what's in season and the staff are so friendly and courteous. I go almost every weekend for my fix and I'm in there so much, in fact, that they typically know what I drink without having to order it or have ask for regular so sauce (low sodium is typically the only one on the table). I will continue to come here and for as long as I can. Ask for Nury when you come in and she'll get you taken care of too. She's super friendly and is a great server. read more
