    Sashimi and tuna roll

Who would believe it.....really good sushi in Columbia City Indiana !! I didn't take the great reviews seriously but who am I to judge! It was true! The GPS may take you to the big parking lot in the back of the place but follow the arrows down the alley. I was alone yesterday so I splurged! I ordered a special sashimi with a tuna roll and the salad and soup was included! Both were really good! The salad was ice cold and the dressing was superb. The Miso soup was to die for! My entree was a thing of beauty served in a mound of ice lighted with neon light! It had an assortment of maguro and albacore tuna, red snapper and salmon. The white tuna was so buttery and all complimented each other. The eight piece tuna roll was perfectly spiced. What a combination! Everything was clean, fresh and the service was fast but not rushed! You guys have to try this spot!!!!

This is the A.17 jalapeño special

My wife and i had yet another great experience here again. We just got off a 16 1/2 hour drive from Florida to move here and we've had some good food while we lived in Florida and this great establishment is on par if not better than most Asian restaurants we ate at. My wife and I both work in the culinary industry and one of the hardest things to make are great broths. When making them it's all about layers and if you don't do it correctly it just tastes like water with seasonings and the broth on the Ramon here was DELICIOUS!! It had so much flavor and depth!! I will enjoy this being our new Monday date night restaurant. Also the service here is always so friendly and fast as well. I feel very welcome when dining here.

I travel a bunch for work and whatever city I'm in I like to try out their sushi. For being in a small town this place beats out most of the bigger more expensive places! Amazing sushi and great wait staff! The sushi chef brought out my plate and explained each piece of sushi he crafted! The edimame was great and so was the hot sake. I highly recommend this place!!

Sushi Deluxe and a tall Sapporo

I arrived at 8:30, an hour before closing, on a Wednesday night. The staff was already mopping the floors and performing the typical end of night cleaning. I ordered the Sushi Deluxe with a spicy tuna roll and a tall Sapporo. Sushi, roll and miso soup were very good; the salad was okay. Service was very fast, even with all the cleaning. If I ever find myself in Columbia City and craving sushi again, I'll definitely be back!

After numerous visits, I can say with confidence that Tokyo is one of the best restaurants in Columbia City. I usually get the California roll, which has been fresh and delicious every time. I would even go as far as saying this is the best Japanese food in the area. I would previously say Asakusa in Fort Wayne was the best in the area, but in my opinion that title now goes to Tokyo in Columbia City. Carry out orders have always been filled quickly & accurately. Dinning in is definitely the way to go though. Service has always been great & the facility has been spotlessly clean for us on every visit. Also the interior of the building has been remodeled beautifully, definitely a great atmosphere for dinner.

I cannot manage to understand how Columbia City managed to get a Sushi place. I'm too excited about this! I went for lunch today, and I'd say plan ahead, they only had 2 sushi chefs on hand and they worked as fast as they could. I was very pleased with my rolls. We had 6 different types and tempura. All were fantastic. I will be back again and again.

Super nice staff. Sushi is just ok. Kids had noodles and that was oily. Our group had several rolls so we tried different ones.

Allegedly, in 1933, Dillinger robbed the near by police station of guns and ammo. Hence the name...Dillinger's Bar & Grill. Dillinger's is a smaller but wide open restaurant. An inviting bar is centrally located. The wooden floors, ceilings and hand-hued beams are probably original to 1880's business structure. The facility is simple and sports a lot of Dillinger references like the table tops. I found the team here to be very friendly and willing to serve. The menu is fairly large with lots of Dillinger coded menu items to choose from. The prices were very reasonable with decent portion sizes (i.e. no highway robbery here lol). We started with the onion rings. They had a thick piece of onion and equally thick batter. The batter had a bit of a beer seasoning, slight oily taste and a moderately crunch. Really good tasting ring! The side salad was small with a nice mix of simple side ingredients - tomatoes, onions and cheese. My wife had the Wheelman wrap. She said it was loaded with tasty turkey and bacon flavors. She liked the fresh taste. The fries were thinner and crispy. I ordered the Silent Shot breaded tenderloin. It was very thick and juicy. The pork taste really came out nicely. The breading was thick like the onion rings - slight crunch and slightly oily. The sandwich came with all the usual toppings. The Cole slaw was also very tasty. The small slaw pieces were almost diced. The mayo base was slightly sweet with a hint of vinegar. It stuck to the slaw pieces without being soupy. Overall another interesting, out of the way place, with good drops and service... to dine and experience some Americana.

Food was not good! Bar food. They tried to do steaks. They were awful. Stick with bar foodread more

Shorty's is one of the Salvatori's Restaurant Group offerings that is located on Main Street in Garrett. Head north on 327 to the downtown area. Shorty's is set in a small and older building located on the east side of the road. You will need to park on the street - which isn't an issue in Garrett. As I said... Shorty's is a smaller venue. The building holds about 10 people at the bar and 90 inside dinners. The outdoor patio appears to seat about 50 people. Shorty's is always busy - especially on Friday/Saturday nights. So, make a reservation via their website. The larger side room can hold bigger groups of 8-14 people. Otherwise you are limited to a table of four. Upon entering the restaurant you will quickly encounter the host stand right at the door. There is no real foyer area to wait for your table. You may feel uncomfortably close to a stranger if things are backed up. The bar area is one of the first things you see. Legend has it that this bar was relocated from a Chicago area business who had it installed in around the time the 1893 World's Fair was in Chicago. The bar wood work, design and finishing are gorgeous! Very inviting. The older part of restaurant retains the decor of the old building - attractive dark wood interiors/fixtures, green plaster ceilings and hardwood floors. All are very comfortable and welcoming. The host and service team were very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of help to hustle drink orders, refills and follow up. The kitchen is very small. Food orders may take a bit of time when they are busy. So be prepared to relax, enjoy a bar drink, converse and admire the renovations. Shorty's has a decent variety to offer on their smaller food and drink menus. They are more than just steaks. In general, most items are a bit pricey...but probably normal for most area steakhouses. Here is a run down of the food we ordered: -Table Bread: nothing to special; white bread roll with a firm exterior and soft inside with basic butter; tasted like it was freshly baked -House Salad: nice sized salad with a fresh taste and ingredients; several side vegetables and cheese to dress up/accent the salad; the honey mustard dressing tasted familiar - probably not made in house -Crab Cakes: my wife loved her crab cakes; tender, full of crab and seafood tastes; nicely grilled exterior -Prime Rib & Baked Potato: delicious taste, tender and smaller amounts of fat; my medium rare request seemed to be more medium as I didn't see much pink coloring; the real horseradish lacked the usual bold kick that I except. The potato was baked perfectly and accented with the usual dollops of smooth butter and sour cream. Good steakhouse choice. Overall, Shorty's offers good food & drink selections in a unique setting. Remember, Shorty's is a very popular place and fills up quickly. Therefore, plan ahead and make a reservation. Shorty's is definitely worth a trip to Garrett to give them a try.

We will definitely be back.

Tasteful decor, albeit the bar, patio (seasonal, of course), or main dining area. Choice of booth or table seating. Can be a bit noisy, when tables of patrons forget they're not the only guests in the room, but not to the level that drowns out your own table conversation. Service is usually impeccable and Kiersten (our server the past 2 visits) exemplifies that: knowledgeable, attentive but not intrusive, kind, efficient, pleasant. Hubby had the not-your-ordinary wedge salad as a starter (pictured). Bacon, tomato, bleu cheese crumbles, hard boiled egg, and a creamy balsamic dressing. Very tasty! Me, always a sucker for good French onion soup (pictured), which I always order with no bread or croutons. Broth has authentic rich flavor with just the right amount of simmered onions. The only thing that might have made it even better would have been the use of Gruyere (or Swiss, instead of what seemed to be mozzarella) for the cheesy melt topping the delicious soup. Our chosen entrees tonight were the cashew crusted Mahi Mahi (pictured) served with orzo and fresh green beans, and the seared tuna (pictured) served on an umami blend of Napa cabbage and broccoli lightly dressed in sesame ginger, just-right heat, and peanuts. SO good! Oh...and you can see by the pics that the portions are well presented and generous enough to have some for lunch the next day! Truly a local fav! Great place for lunch or dinner!

It can be found across the parking lot from Buffalo Wild Wings. There is always plenty of parking near the door. The restaurant is large with an inviting & modernly decorated bar and dinning area. The team here is very friendly and professional. They never disappoint. Making reservations on line is easy. I would definitely recommend reservations! On this night we were seated in the indoor-outdoor dining area. This area is more open, well lit and less intimate than the man dinning area. There were two large groups (12 and eight) seated in this area - nice for larger gatherings. You have a nice view of the lit outdoor fire place. BC has a very large menu. There is something for everyone. Overall BC is rather pricey but not as expensive as some. We started with our favorite corn bread appetizer. It's a simple 2-3 person dish. The bread is more like a southern cake than a traditional corn bread. The inside is soft, sweet and moist. The whipped butter is fluffy, smooth and makes a delicious accent to the corn bread. My wife ordered the southwest grilled chicken salad. She said the chicken was perfectly grilled and moist. The lettuce and fixings were very fresh. The dressing was very light and had a hidden cayenne pepper kick. The salad seemed to grow as you got to the bottom of the bowl - lol. My house salad was also very fresh. Plenty of side items to accent the lettuce. The buttermilk ranch dressing is somewhat unique. It has a smooth and light buttermilk texture without a strong buttermilk flavor. There are hints of ranch dressing flavors. Nicely done! I ordered the BC meatloaf. This was a mountain of deliciously blended types of meats, onions, peppers & spices. You could pick up the short rib, brisket, bacon and ground chuck flavors. The collection was moist, nicely spiced & seasoned and delicious! There was plenty of fresh and perfectly steamed broccoli - nice crisp. The Mac & cheese side was done to perfection! Nicely cooked noodles along with a very smooth & creamy white cheese sauce. It was so delicious that I had to scrap the sauce from the bottom of the dish. Overall, Black Canyon is an outstanding place to dine. You always feel special whether it's a special occasion or just dinner out. Time in and time out...food & service are outstanding!!
