I purchased our horse from Blackstone Stables, and he has been everything we hoped for and more. He…read moreis sound, talented, kind, and exactly what my young daughter needed. I found the owner to be professional, accommodating in so many ways, straightforward, and easy to work with throughout the entire process. She answered questions, allowed me the time I needed to evaluate my horse, and never made the process feel adversarial or pressured. My interactions with her were consistently respectful and positive. I'm not suggesting every buyer has had the same experience I did, but I do see some red flag reviews on here that seem very one sided. I can only speak for myself and say my experience was excellent, my horse has been fantastic, and I would not hesitate to work with Blackstone Stables again.

The owner is very shady. I called her inquiring about a horse that I found through free spirit…read moreequestrians Facebook page. The horse was said to be purchased by blackstone stables and Shae ( the owner of FSE) said that blackstone would have the horses available soon. I waited a few months and then called to see if the horse was in fact still there/ready to go. the owner of black stone, I believe her name is Ellesse told me he is not technically finished and he would be available in a few months, but if I wanted him sooner she would let him be sold now. we had what I thought was a very nice conversation and i told her I would speak to my husband and follow up with her. The next day I reached out and told her we want to fly out there (we live in NJ) and meet him and asked her what day of the week is best.. all of a sudden her tune totally changed and she said 'the sooner the better there are a lot of people interested in him' this made no sense since he wasn't advertised and according to her he's not technically available yet.. I asked her how there is so much overnight interest in a horse that isn't posted and isn't available.. she told me she was getting 'inundated with calls' and said that free equestrian must've posted an update on him. I checked their page and they most certainly did not post any update on him, but she posted him on her Facebook page just 12 hours after our initial conversation. I thought this was a very shady move. long story short, after calling every vet in the area to get a PPE scheduled, and this turning into a high pressure, rushed potential purchase rather than the easy going honest one it seemed to start as, I scheduled the PPE for 6 days out which was the soonest I can find. The next day she text me that he sold. I was crushed but not surprised. Though the horse, Charlie, seemed lovely and I had my eye on him for months, I'm grateful I didn't move forward with him since Ellesse clearly lacks integrity. The large volume of reviews warning people about horses failing PPEs and her refusing to refund their deposit, confirms that as well. Her posting Charlie the day after I inquired about him was just nasty of her. She gives horse sellers a bad name

Many of the horses are rescues, and the owner has done a lovely job training them to be wonderful, mild-mannered trail ride horses. There was a 6-year-old child in our group who never once held onto the reins, and she never had a problem because the lead wrangler was leading her horse with a rope. There are wranglers at the front and back of the group as you travel single file down the road with cars driving by periodically. Our wranglers frequently yelled directions (that nobody in the middle of the group could hear), and that aspect really annoyed my daughter. It was not a peaceful ride. I have been to the Waterloo location and was expecting a walk through a beautiful wooded area like it is there, so our route was a disappointment to me as was the slow pace. The web site mentioned both walking and trotting. We were at a slow walk for the entire ride. Since my daughter and I both ride frequently, this was not at all what we were looking for. That being said, this would be perfect for people who have never ridden or for families with small children.

They keep way too many horses in close proximity. The living environment looked unbearable, the horses were filthy, they had zero grass and they were stewing in a bunch of sh*t. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1998 (which is when they bought the "farm"). Additionally, on what was supposed to be a relaxing horse ride, she screamed at the cars driving past us multiple times. We were on a secluded dirt road, people were already halfway off the other side of the road driving probably 25mph, there was no need for her irrational reaction. Overall, horrible experience. Go somewhere else.
