Glaswegians, your cafes have definitely spoiled me and I can't find anything that compares to this in the U.S. When you walk in, you automatically get this cozy and warm feeling. Try to get a seat in the upstairs dining area, because this is where you will feel the most warmth. I also like sitting in the bar stools by the window because I like looking outside at the rain. If you find yourself waiting for a table, just take that time to browse the pastries, savory foods laid out, and even their selection of cookbooks. Their selection of cake and tarts change daily, but if they have leftovers one day then they serve the leftovers the next day until they are gone, but a lot of the time their pastries sell out on the first day. Bonus to this is that your pastries are definitely fresh! But the pastries still taste good even if they are a day old. Trust me. My go-to pastries were the Belgian Chocolate Cake or the vanilla custard tarts. This cake has hazelnuts inside of it and is served with raspberries, chocolate bits, dusted with sugar on top. If you love chocolate, this cake is the way to go. The vanilla custard tarts reminded me of home (because I would get Egg Tarts at Chinese bakeries and this vanilla custard tart tasted just like a egg tart) The only difference is that the tart at Kember & Jones had flaky layers of crust, which made the tart even better. My go-to drinks are hot chocolate or the Moroccan Fresh Mint Tea. The hot chocolate is served with foam and little chocolate bits on top. The Mint tea is served in a clear glass, but it comes hot (which was weird because I didn't think you would serve hot drinks in a glass) but I understood why because it has a bunch of mint leaves in it that changes the color of the drink to a light tan. It's cute and if you have a sore throat, it will make you feel better. Other things that I have tried and loved were the Warm Waffle (because it was served with syrup and fresh fruit), the French Lemonade (It was pink lemonade with a little bit of sourness), and the macarons (They make different ones each week. Try all of them because they go fast! I have to say during Christmas time their Christmas pudding one tastes pretty good, too.) Last thing to note is that the staff is very nice. I never really feel pushed to leave. They are polite and attentive.

It looked nice and was fresh, but I was disappointed by the flavor of the single elements. Especially the tofu was not salted or made with herbs or spices. Just plain tofu in a batter. I asked for chili but only got some sriracha sauce that didn't really fit to the rest of the meal. The kimchi itself did not convince me either. It could have needed some more days of fermentation. Location: small, but music was bit annoying (loud indie grunge). Staff was very attentive though!

First impressions inside, it's small, with three small tables and a window seat (below a gorgeous stained glass cabbage!) and sparsely decorated but, more importantly, the delicious smell that greeted me promised some tasty foods! I'd already heard good things about their burgers but as this was my first visit I decided to be a little traditional and go for the Bulgogi Brisket Bao. Oh my heavens!! Deliciously rich beef brisket, kimchi and spring onions in a perfectly steamed Taiwanese bun, with a small side of pickled mushrooms plus a portion of Kimchi Cheese fries (because you can't have too much kimchi, right!?) had me salivating from start to finish. Freshly cooked, so close you can hear the sizzling, it was wonderful and given its within walking distance of my where I live, and is a good alternative, to the ubiquitous burgers, I can see me back here very soon (I may be planning a trip tomorrow!!). That said, they do burgers as well but as they come topped with kimchi, I'm hopefully of more good things! So, first day opened (so a slight wait was allowed as they were v.busy from the outset), and my first visit impressions were very good!! I'll definitely be back and, if you are in the area, I'd suggest you swing by as it's well worth a visit!

There were plenty of booths and tables. At first it looked really busy (good sign) with plenty of families tucking into their food. Walking round, we found a booth straight away. Usual style of pub grub you would expect, with many coming in 'big plate' portions as well as standard servings. With pub favourite dishes being offered at two for £8.99, it's reasonably priced. Every day, they have a different offer on too; tonight was a free starter/dessert if you otdered a big plate. Ordering is done at the bar. I ordered the chicken skewers with piri piri sauce, lemon rice and a side salad with a coke. The waitress quivkly brought over a stand with cutlery and a range of condments in full sized bottles (not a sachet in sight!). Food arrived prompty and I started tucking into my meal.. I love spucy food and it's not often I say that something is too soicy but this piri piri sauce was HOT! The chicken was delicious but the highlight was the rice. I wasn't expecting to like it much (not a massive fan of lemon in savoury foods) but the balance was just right. The salad was okay, but not that exciting and I didn't like the salad dressing much. If I'm in the area I'd definitely head back but it wouldn't be my first choice.

You can smell the fresh paint, no joke! Only here to watch a movie at the IMAX and Braehead struggles for decent eateries, unless you like Subway & Frankie/Bennys.. Warm welcome on entrance and place is really nicely decorated with smaller booths for 2. Waiter brought over menus & they had to be the largest menus I've ever seen. You could spend the whole meal not seeing the other half! Opted for Lasagne, as I never get to make it with Fiona hating cheese & Fiona went for Risotto with King Prawn. Side order of foccacia with cherry tomatoes, garlic and basil. Didn't have to wait too long, as it's geared up for folk seeing a movie or doing other activities in Xscape. Have to say with such a low expectation, that I was actually pretty shocked. The lasagne wasn't out of a freezer, the risotto was cooked fresh & full of flavour. The clear winner though, was the foccacia, which was more a pizza base to be fair. The lightness & flavour from such a simple dish, was 10/10. I could have just ate that for my lunch, the portion was that large as you can see from attached photo. Pleasantly surprised & pleased, that I can actually eat a decent meal at Braehead, when we go to see a movie at the IMAX. The chicken is always perfectly cooked, the rice never over cooked and I love their side salads. As I was telling Sophie K, for some reason, I really love ordering salads out but I despise making them at home. Haha!
