Waking up as a passenger on a car ride provides many mysteries and possibilities. We pulled over for gas which was when I was woken up as we were searching for a place to eat. In the distance we see a place called Harvey's. One of our fellow passengers say it's good food and that it's a burger chain. I'm not from the area so I was unfamiliar. I vote to go and try it and I'm glad I did. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and a salted caramel shake. It was essentially a breaded chicken submerged in buffalo sauce. This surprised me as many other chains just lather on buffalo sauce on top or internet videos have you put Chik fil a chicken in the sandwich bag, add sauce and manually shake it yourself. This was much better at Harvey's. Also the chicken was the right amount of soft with a slight crisp that I prefer. They also ask you what type of toppings you want on your burger which was unusual for a burger shop. Places like subway or chipotle do the toppings on front of you but, first time I've seen them stack a burger which was a nice experience that probably isn't a thought for others. I also really liked that they add pickle slices from the long way of a pickle instead of the smaller short circles in used to. After that, satisfying sandwich, I washed it down with a salted caramel shake. I can't say as much as it was a milk shake with salted caramel flavoring but it was smooth like milk and not thick like ice cream Service was quick, workers just took my order and were patient. I don't know if this is how all Harvey's operate but I really enjoyed what I had and I can recommend trying it if someone sees one in the area read more

I really love coming to Harvey's, both older lady's at the front counter are always welcoming and friendly. My husband and I look forward to coming in to see them. Our orders are always 100% correct and always cooked to perfection! Even with a long line up it goes fairly quickly even when the ontario northland bus stops by! The food was decent. The service was quick and efficient. The restaurant was kept clean.

This Harvey's is located in a small food court, also containing a Kawartha dairy outlet and a coffee shop owned and operated by locals. Of the three areas, the Harvey's/Swiss Chalet is definitely the busiest by far. The menu is standard Harvey's fare; however, they do try to accommodate for the, generally, long lines by asking patrons for their name to assist in moving people through quicker. Overall, if you like Harvey's food, then you'll be very happy with this location. read more

This 'go-to' for many North / South travellers is always busy. It doubles as a bus station too, which I have always found quite odd (doesn't really interfere -- just sort of random). Your typical Harvey's / Swiss Chalet. The people are friendly, but that's all about that stands out. AND -- as a guy -- I am suggesting they take better care of the washrooms. To gross me out is something to be said LOL. The Women's washroom was the same. My wife was almost nervous about changing our little one there. I overheard a lot of people complaining to Management. Hopefully this is fixed-up next time we're passing through. We have stopped here more than once. read more

Rubbery hamburger patty was almost, but not quite, made up for by extra delicious pickles. Chocolate shakes were very dark and rich. Fries were okay with vinegar (yay). This is the only place I have ever had poutine but it was pretty darn good for the price. read more

This location is almost always busy which is good and bad. Wait is sometimes long but high volume means the food is always really hot and fresh when it comes out. Wish they had these in the US. read more

The food is worth three stars but the exceptional service earns it a fourth. This is a nice alternative for travelers who would normally just get fast food. I have been there three times, and al three times the quality of the food was "average" but the customer service was outstanding. On the last visit, I had difficulty explaining to the cashier what my son wanted--a special order--and she gave me something completely different than I expected. I told them that wasn't what I meant to order, but I accepted the responsibility of not clearly explaining what I wanted. One of the workers, a middle aged man, told me he would make it right and immediately put my correct order on the tray. I then went to my seat and started eating. A few minutes later, he came to my table with a new receipt and about $4, which was the difference once the orders were changed. I did not ask or expect this, so I was very grateful. We will be back on next year on our way to Lavigne because of this outstanding service! read more
