Went to pick up my daughter due to an emergency after her school right before she started math…read moretutoring and when she came out she had tears in her eyes. Last time I had asked her to come home and not stay they made her stay during that time she didn't have a phone so I didn't know if she was somewhere waiting for me or at the office or at her math tutoring. The lady that works at the office during school hours clocks out and abierto lady with zero knowledge of the school or after school programs is there so it took her about 20mins to find my daughter and give me an answer about where my daughter was at, this incident was so unprofessional for a school and child safety that I ended up getting her a phone after this. This happens in October is already mid April and they have this lady still untrained still with zero knowledge of after school classes, clubs, etc. So I called my daughter because it was an emergency and this lady didn't know where she was at. She then walked to check in which class she was and my daughter came out. My daughter came out crying because a teacher named Mrs.Ewald or whatever put her on the spot when she saw my daughter using her phone to communicate with me, keep in mind my child is not a problem child she is very respectful and very kind and never causes disruption in class. I don't know what's the point of becoming a teacher and not being able to set a good example to little kids, instead she got this "grown adult" that works with the school and children acting authoritarian, how her first instinct is to make a child feel uncomfortable like if they're doing sornhign bad when they have zero history of being a problem. An adult, a proper adult trained to deal with kids and handle situations right without escalating them should have first asked " is there an emergency for you to be on the phone?" To me it was such a nasty energy from a "teacher" even just an adult, why work with kids if you're not gonna be a good example to follow. Can totally see why the school I claimed this page they have zero accountability for teachers doings and even for some students and are enablers.

Update from my last post…read more I guess it rub somebody the wrong way. Can anybody believe that after I voice my thoughts about the secretary that works in the front office of Kennedy stem Academy . My son, a child that is in special needs was kick out of the school 3 months before the school year is over. When he attended the school we lived in Cerritos which made Kennedy his home school. Obviously we proved he lived there when we first enrolled by bringing all the necessary documents needed. We then moved to Lakewood but because he was already half why though the school year we decided to finish it out. I mean nobody would want to switch their child in the middle of the school year especially if the child can have issues with having such a big change. We got a letter that said we have notice that you no longer stay in the address in our system and that a staff member (Evelyn) went to the address to confirm hahahahahaha No principle would have did it .. the teacher loved my son she definitely didn't do it. Who could have access to all this information address etc ! How about the office secretary!!! This woman who looks as if she has no life outside of the school . No husband no kids no one to love her push hard to get a 5 year old kid out the school It has to be an evil agenda behind it because why let the whole school year go by in with 3 months left all off a sudden notice the address change . Who go to ppl homes to check but a bitter (female dog) her new name should be BOB FOR BITTER OLD B!!!! But we will call her EVIL-Lyn On the other hand she did the devils work but god did us even better . MY SON has a new school's right by the house same programs and he adopted perfectly . So although she try we def still took the win! Ps he might be out of that school but remember this yelp post will be up FOREVER FOR YEARS TO COME UNTIL THE INTERNET SHUT DOWN and everyone who read this will know EVIL-Lyn aka BOB Oh the teacher my son had was Amazing beautiful souls the class mates got to hug my son they made him a story book with him in it the rest of the staff principal down to the janitor was nice . The school is a great school But that secretary is HORRIBLE

Our daughter has attended OLF since TK and is now going into first grade. We have truly enjoyed…read morebeing part of the OLF community because of the strong sense of family that surrounds the school. From the staff and principal to the students and families, everyone is welcoming, supportive, and genuinely cares for one another. The teachers are incredibly dedicated, passionate, and selfless in the work they do each day. The principal has clear goals and vision for the school and works tirelessly alongside the staff to continue making OLF the best it can be. Most importantly, our daughter feels safe, supported, and happy at school. She has learned so much about her faith, built lasting friendships with her classmates, and enjoys participating in the many activities offered. She has grown so much independently just over the last 2 years & we look forward to see what the future holds for her at OLF.

Upon arrival for our school tour, I saw someone I knew and my husband saw someone he went to high school with nearly 20 years ago, who happened to both be teaching at the school. They greeted us and gave us their perspectives and it immediately felt like home. The children themselves were friendly and eager to say hello to my then-4-year-old and as soon as our tour ended, I knew this was the place for us. Now that we're nearing the end of our first year at OLF, I can confidently say our instincts were correct -- the teachers are caring and competent and the community is cohesive, but most importantly, there is a strong emphasis on education, fellowship, and safety. The new principal has done a great job making us feel reassured that our children are in the best hands possible. So happy to be a part of this OLF family.

there are so many things wrong with this school, where can I even start…read more. 1. Safety. There are SO much fights at this school, I can't even count. Once during the first semester there were maybe 3-4 fights in one week, almost 2 in a day once. It was so bad for about 2 days we weren't allowed to move lunch tables or get up out of our seats at lunch. Not to mention there are multiple gang members at this school. As im writing this, there was almost a fight yesterday and a fight INSIDE A CLASSROOM 2 weeks ago. 2. Staff. Where do I even begin..... The staff is rude to students. If you have any concerns, I'd recommend talking to the vice principal Mr Mcleoud as he is the nicest and most understanding staff member on campus. The principal is rude and treats the school like a prison. She is sooo rude to students, and people are scared of her as she targets random kids for no reason to say something to when they aren't doing anything. There are no backpacks allowed on campus which causes students stuff to get stolen, such as chromebooks and more. When you ask them to look at the cameras so you don't have to pay a $400 fee to replace your Chromebook that was stolen, they don't listen and never cooperate with you. The staff in the office is rude sometimes except for one nice lady. Most of the teachers don't teach at all, and ms Kaiser hates children and teaches like the principal from the movie Matilda. The only teachers that genuinely teach and are good at what they do is Mr Courdy and Ms Sollecito. Not to mention basically none of the teachers respond to emails when you or a parent have questions or concerns. If you are looking for a middle school to put your child in, tetzlaff is NOT the one, coming from a student.

I met my best friends here, not only friends but a core group of sisters. A bond we will forever hold. There's a saying, "tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are". This sisterhood bond, I share amongst- Insurance business Owners(LMU grad), HR Directors(LMU grad), Field Managers(ASU grad), Boeing Representatives(CSUF grad), School principals( UCLA masters) and Doctors( USC). We have all pushed each other to become as the post below me says, "All of which woman is capable". SJ provided that structure through academics, athletics, and a true foundation of sisterhood. This structure allowed for me to lead with confidence into college. Through my years at SJ taught me, to grow as an individual, discover my true identity and the ability to find my voice. I have now embraced success as a college graduate and government agency specialist. I have Saint Joseph High School to thank; I can't wait to send my daughter here one day. I always thank my parents for the sacrifices they made during my time at SJ. They now say, look where you are now- it was worth every penny! If you are a parent reading this post: I am sure you are making the comparison between other Catholic schools. You will not be disappointed by sending your daughter to Saint Joseph High School. I am one voice to the thousands of women who have graduated from SJ. Your daughter may not appreciate the sacrifices you make now, but when they are searching for their future career- she'll run into a future Alumnae and THAT WILL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!
