I absolutely adored that the room numbers outside the room are vintage post office box doors. The trains blow their whistles a lot at night passing through and this woke us up each night, so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper. We enjoy trains and liked seeing them (so that is a pro/con, we liked the trains, just not at night when sleeping). We were there for our anniversary and I was pleasantly surprised there was a bottle of champagne on ice in our room upon our arrival with a nice card. So very sweet. I found the bed to be extremely comfy! So much so I meant to see what brand mattress it was but I forgot to look. Darn! The hotel itself is beautiful, I enjoyed walking through when we came and went. It was fun to browse the few shops. Although I was disappointed to not find anything with the St James logo on it, was hoping to buy a souvenir of some sort with the hotel logo (coffee mug or wine glasses?). We arrived in the early afternoon and were greeted by the friendly hostess/owner, got a tour of the property, and were welcomed to enjoy a lovely happy hour--which included wine, charcuteries and tapenade, gourmet caramel apple--in the sunny living room. The house was quiet and comfortable for a peaceful overnight stay. The breakfast and coffee on the sun porch was delicious and beautifully presented. The hosts Deb and Ron are witty and kind without being overbearing or too chatty. The coffee is wonderfully strong and the food really top notch. At first, I looked at the hotels in the area, but nothing felt right. Then had the idea of staying at a B & B (Bed and Breakfast.) We began our search and when we saw the Pratt Tabor Inn and read the reviews, went over their website, something in both of us felt good, like the Universe compelled us to try this out. It would be my first time and for my gf it had been years since she went to a b&b with her family. When we arrived, we met Ron, and right away our conversation felt lively and warm. He helped get us situated and settled and the rest as they say was history...I'm a strong believer in my later years that the Universe places people, events, and experiences in your life that aligned with how you want to live your life. I wanted this get-away to be about relaxing and sharing our love for each other, ourselves, and others! And it definitely was. Instead of writing an epic story, which I totally could, I'll list off the highlights of our stay. -Incredible atmosphere -Ellie, Buddy, and Max!! -Wonderful hospitality -Lovely time over Wine, Cheese, Conversations -Amazing dinner suggestions in town, including what to order! -Deb and Ron - delightful human beings -We love sitting down with people to share stories. I am sharing this information because I know when planning a big event as many are doing when booking a place for a party that can accommodate a large group it is not easy to just be canceled in the last hour. Where would you find another property in a similar location and size? Do you have to reach out to all your guests to notify them your party is ruined? Sadly, this was my experience. I was given no reason for the cancelation until I wrote a review and apparently, I was cancelled simply because I sent a text message asking a question about their policy on charging for the room. After my question was answered, I never sent another question and then received a text one week prior to my stay saying it was cancelled.

The space is wild and interesting at face value. the air bnb host was easy to get a hold of and very friendly, but the space was disgusting and it felt insulting to be charged such a large amount for the stay. There are no amenities. Many posted are not available- the little amount available were very underwhelming, I would even describe as sad and disappointing. The house is full of shit- every space, drawer, cabinet, closet- packed full of items from the host. Be prepared to just have to leave all your belongings piled on the floor for the stay. Upstairs we found a mini fridge taped closed with one strip of scotch tape- this was full of molding old food- extreme health hazard- thank god we did not have any kids with exploring that could have gotten in to it. Outside had trash, stained sitting areas, dirty, buckets and containers of standing d water- the space was not clean. The post advertised a workout room and pool- there are neither- just no exercise room or equipment- and an empty filthy pool- not even covered or cleaned. It was hard to look at. I'm going to repeat that we were charged 5,000 dollars for 2 nights for 13 individuals- 3 of the 7 beds were mattresses on the floor. Kitchen is filled with shit- On day of arrival we were informed the oven didn't work, and we quickly found out the garbage disposal was also not functions which resulted in a plugged sink for our stay. The fridge and every cupboards was filled with food. There was no space to keep food for our 13 guests- we had to store in our own coolers The advertised queen bed in the main room was two small mattresses pushed together. The pink princess room advertised working shower and toilet- the shower is blocked off by a desk and hidden- closed off- not working. None of the electronics were set up to function- half didn't function- one didn't even reach a plug in. This place is not advertised correctly- we all felt swindled. This is not a luxury stay. Would not even pay 500 for the housing. DO NOT BOOK. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED- even confused by the level of filth and straight lying about stay and amenities. 2500 a night is insulting- If there is any way for a refund in any forms it is ask for any money back, you do not get anything close to what is advertised.

We took a seat in the parlor and were checked in, given a few recommendations for dinner, then shown our room. I enjoyed the library and parlor rooms very much. We stayed in Margaret's room and slept peacefully. The attention to detail, antiques and such, were spot on. Coffee and tea were brought up to our room at 8:15 in the morning, and left outside our door. A music box was played so that we knew when our beverages were at our door. Fantastic! And we got these amazing little muffins in the cutest little tray/basket. Breakfast was at 9am in the formal dining room. I found the seat with my name next to it, and joined the other guests for a three course breakfast. During our third coarse, we were given a brief history about the house from the inn keeper. Very interesting, indeed. All in all, a wonderful experience.
