From the start the staff was so helpful! Jackie and Margaret in bakery had everything ready for me labelled and fresh as can be. They even helped me to my car with it. Jess at front end helped with the floral as what I wanted would not come in on time. She made a phone call and Farmboy in Pickering shipped the flowers to the Whitby store. wow. Just when I thought customer service doesn't exist anymore. Well it does at Farmboy. Thanks to Bakery and Floral for making my experience joyful and a good memory. Mrs. P.

The bakery section is my personal favourite !!! We bought macadamia white chocolate cookies and cheese croissants awhile back and my bf and I were in love ! Today we bought chocolate croissants and a watermelon from there and it did not disappoint ! The chocolate croissants are sooooooo delicious and tasted super fresh . The chunks of chocolate in it left me craving more with every bite . Initially I was just going take a few small bites cause of the calories but it was too delicious that I ended up devouring the whole thing :/. The watermelon was also super sweet and juicy . For bags , you can choose a brown paper bag (25c) or a reusable bag (99c). Highly recommend everyone to check Farm boy out especially the bakery sections!

When I walk into Bruno's, I see a clean and organized deli/butcher, with knowledgeable staff and skilled butchers. Bruno's has an open concept, so you can actually look through a window and watch them chop up your meat. When I walk in, I also see dry-aged prime rib in a special dry-aging compartment. Once I asked about the price, and the reply was, "Do you REALLY want to know??" Ok, fair enough, I was wearing my everyday clothes and probably looked like I couldn't even afford a sausage. I'll get my husband to go in there, on his way home from work, and see if he can buy a single rib Dry Aged Prime Rib for me to prepare for a Mother's Day gift. Meanwhile, I bought something more economical ....but still kind of luxe. I bought an entire striploin on sale. The price was actually only $1 more than No Frills, and I got 12 steaks!! That will certainly last us a while. After laying 3 aside for our evening meal, I tossed the rest in the freezer. That steak is so great, just butter-basted in a skillet with your favourite aromatics. Despite my above anecdote, Bruno's is not a stuck-up or snobby place at all, but just your neighbourhood butcher. And, if you keep an eye on their specials, it is not to pricey at all. However, you can spend a fortune if you aren't aware of reasonable pricing. As grocery store food prices soar upward, Bruno's prices seem to remain relatively static, in a good way, so that it is worth my money to check it out, especially when they have deals or sales. This is your perfect, neighborhood butcher!

As a first-time customer (an avid foodie!), I was happily surprised on my first visit to see such a wide variety of meats and offerings. Upon selecting three striploins at the meat counter, I proceeded to take in the culinary delights the rest of the store had to offer. A glass cabinet of prepared sausage rolls and steak pies (among other things) caught my eye. With my smartphone in hand, I attempted to take a photo of the pies with hopes of sharing my tasty discovery with friends. "What are we doing?!" yelled a voice. Not realizing that the question was intended for me, I carried on with my task of capturing the beautiful steak pies. Again, the same question but this time even louder. "What are we doing?! What are you doing sir?!" This time I realized the man was directing his communication at me. I explained that I was simply trying to take a photo of the pies. "Not without my permission," he replied. Shocked and humiliated I adhered to his request and headed to the cash register to pay for my steaks (and a rub!). Upon suggesting that a sign should be put up to let guests know that photos are not permitted, the cashier replied, "It's not that photos are not allowed, just ask and I'm sure he'd let you." I appreciate that the shop is a privately owned business with its own set of rules and policies. However, speaking to your customers in that manner is unacceptable and unprofessional. There's no doubt that the entire store, with its employees and other guests, were able to clearly hear the exchange between me and the man. Not only was I offended, I felt humiliated and belittled. I would recommend that the store consider putting up a sign regarding their policy on photography inside the shop so clients are aware of what's appropriate. The steaks were actually quite tasty but unfortunately due to my horrible experience, I would never shop there again and support a business that treats their clients in such a foul manner.

I was mesmerized by the bakery section. I wanted every single cake, but I looked at the custard tarts and got them instead. The croissants looked so fresh and yummy. If I could live in this section, I would. I would also end up being too large to get out of the store. I bought these frozen brussel sprouts that come with butter sauce. I haven't tried them, but it sounded good to me. As with Longo's, the produce is exceptionally fresh and beautifully arranged. It's like going into an arboretum, but without paying for any admission fee. I got my pack of bacon. This place has sodium-reduced bacon, which made me so happy. It was also on sale for $4.99. The hot foods section smelled so good. I stood there for a minute looking at everything and wanted to eat, even though I just did. I had a cheerful, pretty pregnant cashier check me out. She was so polite and nice. I swiped my rewards card. I am close to getting a discount, but it does take a while to get there. This grocery store has an elevator to the top floor, where there are more places to sit down and eat. There is a Starbucks on the main floor, and an area to sit down and relax, too. You can use your rewards card at Starbucks, too. It's a nice, clean grocery store. There is plenty of parking. I like it. (109)
