Their meats are always high quality and enhances whatever recipe you are using. There's also an educational aspect to Sanagan's. If you subscribe to their newsletter, or buy Peter Sanagan's book, you learn so much about what cuts of meat to use with what types of dishes, you discover hidden gems in cuts of meat, not to mention fantastic recipes. I had never heard of flat iron steaks (one of the most tender cuts of beef and very affordable) before Sanagan's and now it's a staple in my household. You are also able to order cuts of meat that are not available at the counter (I ordered duck hearts once) as well as order ahead online. The housemade sauces and charcuterie made by Sanagan's are also delicious. They might be slightly higher priced than supermarket brands, but they're highly worth it. Everyone is also super friendly and helpful at Sanagan's, you just know that they're being treated well there.

They were unable to get what I wanted and when I reminded them of our previous conversations where I told them that five individual haggis's were not acceptable because I needed a single haggis as a part of a Funeral ceremony they simply pulled up my past sale data and used the credit card information to process an unauthorized transaction?? Who does that? My family is trying to get ready for my Mother's Funeral this Saturday. I have no haggis, and a charge on my card. So on top of all of the arrangements that I've been dealing with this week I had to reach out to MasterCard and cancel my card for fear of further unauthorized transactions. Stealing people's copyrighted material is completely disrespectful, however putting through unauthorized charges while a family is trying to get ready for a funeral is despicable. As a consumer please keep in mind If a merchant tries to push a charge through just because they have your card on file from the past, but there was no new agreement or order, it's not valid, and you're absolutely within your rights to dispute the charge and demand a reversal. My advice...pay cash if you are shopping at The Meat Merchant but honestly the steaks at Costco are better and cheaper, and if you need haggis go to McComish's Wee British Shoppe in Orillia. The small store had a fresh tray of fresh sausages and said they had more meat in the back. They had a fridge of drinks and some kitchen supplies. On the positive note, the owner said that they will price match any advertised meat in the city. They can order and get the cut of meat that a customer is looking for. They said they guarantee the meat source to be high quality and reputable. I ordered a beef brisket from them that arrived the next day. The owner only brought one into his store, and said we didn't have to take it. We bought it anyway and enjoyed the quality of the meat that we bought.. I don't know how the business can sustain if the butcher doesn't bring more meat in, particularly if customers want something on-the-go. Hopefully things will improve. It's a good place if you want to place an order for something in particular and get a great price on it, or don't mind buying what the store happens to have in stock. My rating will improve as the owner works out the kinks of the business.

I grilled them this evening and they turned out flavourful and yummy. I haven't grilled boneless chicken thigh meat but I have a feeling it's going to turn out well. I will certainly be back for some more marinated chicken wings. It's important to note that the butcher confirmed that their chicken is hormone- and antibiotic-free. Personally, I refuse to buy chicken that's full of hormones and antibiotics. I usually buy either organic chicken that's widely available or from the Mennonites. The latter one is more difficult to find in the GTA. I know for a fact that Mario's Meats at 3650 Langstaff Rd in Woodbridge carries chicken from the Mennonites.
