I want for my third time to Hato recently and every time was just great. The food is delicious and outstanding. Very warm & friendly receptionist. All staff are very friendly and give you the feeling that everything is under control concerning your table and everything else. Try the variety of cocktail drinks very good I mean awesome. Great job Hato

*****5 stars for the kitchen ***3 for ambiance Food was very good. The kitchen staff for sure is highly skilled and motivated. The smoked fish (we chose hamachi from the seafood display) deserves a high five. I'd even high five the chef with my toes if he'd ask me to. It was that delicious. Miso cod as main dish was good too. Oh, I adored the hamachi sashimi with yuzu and truffle (yes, sounds weird but not weird at all when you eat it). The truffle was present rather like a perfume in your nose and not overpowering which is why it was in harmony with the yuzu. The mussels! They are a must! So much flavour. Spicy 7 spice, the broth made me wish to bath in it and coriander makes me happy no matter what. The soft shell crab tempura was good. But I'd have chosen tempura sauce with it not the spicy mayo as the waitstaff recommended. With the Mayo it gave it a bit of a KFC touch which it doesn't do any justice. The scallop dumplings were good. Now away from the amazing kitchen to the things I didn't like. The place had a club vibe. I'm a food hunter and I also love to dance. However, when dining I don't want to listen to loud dance music except when munching sliders or such kind of food. I consider it not suitable. But that's my preference. I was not impressed by their kind but doll-like female waitstaff. I felt like they didn't really know much about food and that is awkward. She couldn't answer my question properly whether what they had as special were clams or mussels etc. (basic seafood ABC, this is just 1 example). The Tamil waitstaff however was very polite and helpful. This might sound harsh. But I prefer trained wait staff over eye candy. I want to emphasis though that all were polite. This place has a NYC vibe. So the things mentioned about the staff, the interior and the loud music could as well be one on one in NYC. Maybe it was my fault to only read about the food and nothing about the ambiance. I imagined a Zen like luxury cave :D This place is the complete opposite. I would go back for the high quality of cooking being celebrated here. However I am not sure about the atmosphere.

The dim sum debacle…read more Wife knows what I like, and mentioned a dim sum place when we were walking from the train station dragging our wheeled carry-on to our hotel, half a mile away, in old town Zurich, Switzerland. We walked back, and right across the street from the Bahnhoff was a vendor spot with a sign "Dim Sum". Aluminum roof with three tables and five chairs. We go up to the counter, and immediately get what the previous couple had gotten: an order of pot stickers and dumplings. "Kleine order Grosse?" asks the vendor, a middle aged white dude, with his Chinese wife working in the background on making more potstickers or dumplings. Large order of course, and before I can get my credit card out, one large plate of pot stickers, and another plate of dumplings is served. Not piping hot, only warm, as if the meals were stored in a pizza heating container. "CHF38, bitte" says the vendor. $38 for two dishes from a food truck!? Now, you know why Zurich is the most expensive city in Europe. Credit card will cost a additional swiss franc. I'm absolutely famished, after last eating at 6am, with it now 130pm, after a 9,000 mile trip from San Jose, via Atlanta to Zurich earlier that morning. I'm eating like it's my last meal, devouring everything in front of me. Wife doesn't like the dumplings, saying it's too salty. So I finish up the dumplings, and she the pot stickers. As we finish up, the vendor asks us to pass the soy sauce to the next customer, as if the items were not salty enough! Seems that the food served here does taste familiar to me. My ex was infamous for discretely bagging pot stickers and dumplings from Chinese buffets. Those leftover reheated food buffet items! Three stars because service was so outstanding, and the vendor was considerate and kind. And we did finish our plates.

Last day of a 4 week trip around Europe and I have never been spoken to the way I did here. I spotted a shaded part of ground to quickly spray some sun cream before continuing my walk. I spray on my cream and am about to go on my way when I remember I better put my factor 50 on my legs. I have my bag on the bench outside this place that has no sign on it to say it belongs to the fast food kiosk. So I put my foot on the bench and quickly spray my legs with cream. BIG MISTAKE! Over comes an angry looking German man with a moustache and sprays my leg with the detergent. I think he's joking because I don't hear him as I have my headphones in. I laugh and remove my headphones. He then shouts saying I'm silly doing this here as people sit here. I look confused and say pardon? He says 'go over there, people sit here!' He then pushes me out of the way with his shoulder. At this point I have removed my sunglasses and headphones and I'm shocked at what's happening. I say 'oh I'm sorry but I came here because it was in the shade and all you had to do was ask me nicely not spray me with detergent and push me, that was very rude!' (It gets worse) Now out comes an Asian woman shouting at me in German, right in my face about which I assume is that people basically sit there and I shouldn't have my feet there. Which I totally understand but just tell people this in a nice way. I say there's no need to shout and you couldn't just politely asked me to move and I would've. She then screams something, gets in my face and actually kicks the bench with her feet. I mean what on Earth is going on!!! I say to her I don't know why she's shouting and she's only making herself angry. I'm sorry but this is a ridiculous way to treat someone. What an aggressive couple to own a food kiosk in the public industry. I would avoid this place at all costs as you may be shouted at and beaten if, god forbid, you have a genuine complaint about the dimsum. I say visit here at your own risk. If there were no stars I would give it such. Horrible people.

So I started packing my bags, to leave Switzerland but halfway boxing my stuff up I decided to give Yooji's a try. It was for sure not super good sushi but acceptable enough not to move :-) Yooji'in Bellevue has two sections with two separate entrances but internally linked: one Kaiten-sushi (conveyor belt) restaurant section and one take-away where you can buy ready made sushi. The sushi is not bad if you compare it to what you can get in the supermarket but the price is the same, so for Zurich this is reasonably priced. For lovers of specialty rolls, their selection is quite limited but I am not a huge fan of them anyway. I had much better sushi at this price point before, just not in Switzerland and I am already content that I can eat some a-ok sushi without breaking the bank. Oh and extra bonus points for their hours: they are open daily from 11 am to 11 pm, also on Sundays.

Went twice, just to make sure... as they say, the state of the toilet reflects the quality of the food. ;-) They ran out of green tea mochi ice cream though, but I had the mango and passionfruit ones, and they were delicious. Next time I will try the other flavours. Crikey! The white wine Roero Arneis (Italian) was really lovely. Must say wine and fish makes a good marriage. ;-)

I started with a miso soup, which was perfect in taste, though fairly small in volume. My main order was the chirashi "sushi" dinner, which is actually a heap of de-constructed sushi in a large bowl (rice at the bottom, fish and other items -- like a huge clump of wasabi -- on top). The chirashi was perfect in all respects; especially, I thought that the quality of fish was exceptional. I made the mistake of eating a clump of "something" in the bowl without looking; this turned out to be the wasabi -- sad! At Bimi, and elsewhere, it's best to pay attention to what goes in your mouth. There was a large variety of shochu on the menu. I ordered a shochu somewhat randomly (taking the second one from the top, if I remember correctly). It was served with water, over ice -- I enjoyed the drink and thought it was a fine accompaniment to the chirashi. I got tastes of a starter salad and a bowl of matcha ice cream with red beans. The salad was A-OK, and the ice cream made a wonderful dessert.
