She got to hold a bunny and baby bunnies too, a chicken, a small tortoise, kitty cats and play with a friendly Dog named Rex who was a very well-behaved greeter to all who came to visit the farm that day. There were ducks bathing and splashing which brought giggles from the littles. Chloe got to brush a very friendly Donkey, a small horse and feed the goats and sheep. We spent a little over two hours and very much enjoyed ourselves. From my personal experience I noticed one very important rule to follow for anyone visiting the farm... please allow the people who are working the farm to pick up and hand you the animals you'd like to hold. Some are tamer than others and some are new to the farm. Please watch your children and help them follow just a few easy rules. It's very hard for most children to not chase and scare them or pick them up without help. When following the basic rules you will be sure to have a fantastic time. We were treated very kindly and rarely had to wait more than a minute or two for our turn to snuggle with a furry or feathered friend.

The goats are so silly and fun to watch and feed. The ducks, turkeys, chickens walk around freely and there are two nice dogs. The sheep were resting in the pasture and the cow was hiding out today. There are lots of places where you can interact with the animals or just sit under an umbrella and be entertained by them. It was easy to make a reservation on line, find the farm, parking and the family was welcoming. We will return.

There are soaps, lotions and potions all made with the lavender on the farm. You can pick your own bunch, buy a plant or just stop by and smell the Lavendar. Bring a picnic and enjoy the quiet beauty...well, until the animals get excited!

Coinciding with a recent visit to Deception Pass for the low tide in June, we decided to visit the actual farm stand up in Mt. Vernon on the way. This location consists firstly of a little building in front with a drive through and walk up window serving freshly made fruit smoothies, coffee, and ice cream. The only menu with pricing is located on the drive through side so it's a little inconvenient for walk ins! But at least for strawberries, they get fresh fruit right from the farm (we saw them walking in several flats of Rainiers as they opened up in the morning). Otherwise, the main store is in the barn-looking building behind that. When we visited in Mid-June, they were selling tons of different plants (50% off!), lots of freshly baked pies, and tons or strawberries! When we first walked in at 9:30 AM, the strawberries had literally just been brought to the stand; they were fresh as fresh can be. They had two varieties for the day: Albion (as with most Day-Neutral varieties, these are mediocre, but still better than grocery store varieties), and Rainier, one of the most flavorful varieties grown in Washington. We picked up a half flat for only $20, and would have bought more if not for the fact that we had already purchased 8 pounds of Upick Puget Crimsons from another farm just the previous day. We opted to also hit the little cafe to pick up one of Schuh Farms famous strawberry milkshakes. Strawberry Shake, 20oz ($8.50) - So delicious, the decadent dessert and ridiculously thick, rich, and creamy. Does this milkshake consist of strawberry blended with strawberry ice cream to amp up that fruity flavor? The strawberry is exceptionally jammy and it stays jammy even when the drink warms up. It somehow never gets watery like melted ice cream! (5/5) I've been buying from Schuh Farms ever since moving to Washington and I plan on continuing to be a customer in future years. Now I know there's a big advantage driving up to the farm instead of just stalking their stands at the farmers markets in town!

Fresh produce and fruits, and honey too with apple cider available for purchase! They have a cornmaze for $7 admission, sunflowers and just a cute vibe all around. It is pretty popular too! The pumpkins are reaosnably priced if you're getting small and medium sized ones (not sure about the big ones). There were a lot of ppl with wagons purchasing big pumpkins so expect a line if you're visiting this month!

After some research, & even though it's a bit of a drive, I decided to check out Jones Creek Farms. When we arrived there was a small parking lot but luckily, there weren't too many people so we found a spot towards the back. When you walk near the entrance, there is a worker next to a sign that says that all the workers are vaccinated and still choose to wear mask. Big thumbs up for that! In addition, it lists all the apple types and which rows they are in. There was even a section for Asian pears. The worker walked us toward the orchard and explained where we could pick apples (the trees with ribbons on them.) As we walked we realized many of the rows are very long, so I guess you should decide which apples you want unless you don't mind walking a lot (which we didn't mind doing.) There weren't a lot of trees with ribbons, but enough. The orchard was quiet with beautiful scenery of big hills/ mountains nearby. I took some nice photos. However, it was a bit too quiet for me. I like when it's a bit livelier. Apple picking was great, but there was no cute little market store (or at least it wasn't open when we went on a Saturday afternoon,) which I was hoping would be available to peruse. Also, no hayrides, no games, no corn maze, no cider or snacks... just apple/Asian pear or pumpkin picking. The pumpkin patch was small & very cute. The apple prices were decent and we were happy to leave with a small bag. If you would like a quiet peaceful apple picking experience, stop by at Jones Creek Farms!

They have a bar and other covered seating areas that could accommodate a decent number of people. There are blueberry bushes as far as the eye can see, and you need your own container, but if you love that summer feeling of picking your own fruit, this is the place. The payment is $1.50 per pound or a dollar per pound if you get 10 lb or more. It's all on the honor system, which was really nice and refreshing to see that there's still some trust in our community. The owner came around a few times talking, laughing, and joking with us and our fellow pickers. he encouraged us to eat as many as we possibly could off the bushes so we didn't put a dent in our haul. He also provides bottled water underneath a tent when it gets too toasty out. The only thing I would caution is that it can be easy to pick an abundance of blueberries without noticing. my friend and I were there for just over an hour, and when I weighed my bag I was shocked to find out that I had done 14 lbs. My only issue now is to figure out what to do with them all! I highly recommend going as an essential part of a summer in Bellingham.

Barnie's Berries is a woman-owned you-pick-them farm with strawberries and raspberries. My eight-year-old daughter and I picked two small provided buckets. They filled one of the store's brown boxes and cost just under $30. The berries were delicious! There are no restrooms outside of port-a-potties, but there is water and a sink to wash your hands off the side.
