To celebrate Pi Day (March 14), we made the trek to Schuh Farms. They had a generous variety of pies to select from. Also available were a limited amount of vegetables. The employees were all friendly and helpful. An item I really liked was their "mini" pies. They were perfect for two or three bites. They also came in several flavors. Some were even packaged in small plastic containers with 4 mini pies for $6.00. I bought one container.... I should have gotten a couple more! Available in their gift shop was a variety of merchandise. It was a pleasant trip with pretty good pies. read more

This place is extra amazing around Halloween offering entertainment for kids and family fun! This year they had an inflatable pumpkin, tractor rides, maze and pumpkin picks farms and farm animals. They have a huge selection of sweet treats and gift shop type offerings that are too cute to pass up. You can still enjoy their baked good, excellent coffee and seasonal produce throughout the year. This wonderful little farm is a "must stop" when my husband and I are visiting our daughter weekly in Mount Vernon. We love the pies, the veggies, and the huge selection of jarred goodies. It's adorable during Halloween and Christmas, the decor makes an already very charming shop even better. The employees are all incredibly friendly and helpful. There was a woman in a MAGA hat in the store being rude and arguing with another woman but we didn't let that stop us from enjoying our stop in. read more

Quaint little farm shack on the road. Up front they make fresh berry shakes and sell their delicious baked goods. Inside you can get fresh produce, local cheese, fresh baked goods and pies. They are all just wandering around filling up more pumpkins and asking every customer if they're having a good time or if we need help. It's like entering Halloween town!! They have a yellow brick road and a play area for the wild ones They have goats and chickens too!! And the ice cream cookie sandwiches soooo good! My partner brought me home a berry pie and a berry smoothie from the stand at Schuh Farms. I will never drive by that stand again with stopping for a berry smoothie, it pretty much blew away with smoothies we usually get elsewhere in Mount Vernon. And the berry pie, I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I saw the funky crust on top, but that pie is wonderful, nearly perfect! read more

OMG how have I lived in this area as long as I have and have never heard of Schuh Farms?! I'm in love with this place and can hardly wait for another Skagit Valley road trip and a chance to stop by again. The place is cute, as in adorable, as in a picturesque farm setting with a postcard-worthy barn (and plenty of parking). There's even a food truck out front that sells really good shakes. Inside, Schuh is bursting with fresh fruits and veggies - including local berries and other produce. I bought a bunch of vegetables that look like they'd just been picked, including corn (which was a great deal at 4/$1). They even had a little spot to shuck your corn on the spot. I like going to Schuh Farms. It has a quaint country feel. That is the only good thing about it. Every time my family goes there the produce gets more and more expensive. When I can get produce for half the price at the grocery store on whidbey island it just isn't worth it. When I first moved to the area 10 years ago you could get produce in bulk from Schuh at or maybe slightly above market prices, I just went today and produce was double the cost. In this economy the ambiance isn't worth it unless you're independently wealthy. read more

My friend and I were visiting WA from AZ and were excited to visit the farm with my friend's 8 year old daughter. We were not disappointed!! Everyone was so friendly and helpful! The freshness and flavor of the produce was great, and we really enjoyed the activities (hay ride, corn maze, barrel and tractor rides, etc.)! Stopped here for some ice cream and came home with some spicey dilly beans, homemade cookies, and boysenberry syrup. This place is amazing! I'm not from this area and was happy we stumbled upon this gem. They have beautiful plants too and a little gift shop. Definitely worth stopping in and checking it out. Homemade pie too.. options are endless! The lady working was extremely outgoing and friendly. You don't get that very often these days. Such a great experience we had here. The staff was so friendly and kind. My family came on a weekday so it was quite slow and it was nice. I heard there are more activities on the weekend but today we experiences plenty. There was a little farm to see with chickens ( you can feed them corn for a quarter), pigs, cows, goats and a rabbit. There is almost a friendly dog walking around. There is a yellow brick road behind the grocery store that leads to a play area with a slide for the kids. There are many photo opportunities with pumpkins, pumpkin patches and Halloween decorations. The grocery store sells their own fruits, veggies, eggs, jams/spreads and much much more. I left with a butternut squash and some of their eggs and apples. I would absolutely recommend this farm to visit. It was such a great experience for my family and if I didn't purchase anything at the grocery store it would of been free! I felt like I should purchase something because establishments like this are a gem to our community. read more

Great place to take the Family to pick Strawberries. The staff is very friendly and there are goats and cows near by to please the kids.

I stopped by because of a road sign advertising that said simply "pies - half price"! I walked and saw pies at the counter and asked if they had any strawberry-rhubarb, to which the counter person said yes. She rang it up and said that will be $18 and change. I handed her my credit card and after a second asked if that was half price since it seem rather high. She said no that all the half price pies had been sold and that they were all just apple. Gritting my teeth I bought the pie and as I was leaving I saw the counter person come out and pull the 1/2 price sign. I could have said never mind and left with out so that's on me and I guess technically the sign didn't say "all pies half price" but beware, even in the valley, not everything is how it may seem. In my opinion they should have given the pie at half price then pulled the sign. read more

Loved our experience at Schuh Farms this year. We visited for the first time to get our fall pumpkins. The place is adorable, easy to find and they have great prices. You are able to pick your own, they have a great selection of not only the regular run of the mill carving pumpkins but also a wide variety of different more decorative ones as well. We ended up purchasing many because the prices were so great. Inside is a cute shop where I purchased some cookies and a bouquet of dahlias as well. We ended up buying a 45 lb pumpkin, a 25 lb and multiple smaller pumpkins plus cookies and flowers for under $35! They also have plenty of cute fall children's activities going on to keep kiddos occupied and entertained. We will be using Schuh Farms for our future pumpkin patch needs. read more

Absolutely fabulous farm! We stopped here on our way to the ferry to spent a long weekend on Orcas, and originally stopped here just to get a couple of flats of berries. We quickly scooped up a beautiful mix of blackberries, raspberries, albino raspberries, and blueberries. We entered the small shop to pay, and were immediately distracted by the amazing selection of fruits and veggies. We added peaches, apricots and nectarines to our pile, as well as preserved peach slices and a block of cheese. We've been enjoying all of this throughout the weekend, and everything was just delicious. We are looking forward to passing through on our way back to Seattle to pick up more things! read more

Fabulous. So much to do for adults and kids! Prices were amazingly cheap! (Maybe I shouldn't announce that little secret, shhhh!) for 61 lbs of pumpkins it was $15! Free hayrides. Free shuttle to the other side of the road. $1.25 tickets for the kiddo activities that require tickets. Several choices of food vendor trucks set up on site. We didn't try any but saw the lines at them and everyone seemed to like what they were getting. Porta potties if you need to go. We didn't dare, so can't comment on that but be prepared if you go. Lots of little places to go in and buy produce I'm assuming grown on site. And cheap!!! We bought a little here and there. And the yummiest cider! Had a small bottle there a few times and loaded up to come home. Pumpkins, oh my! You can pick yourself in the big field with a wheelbarrow. Bring mid boots. Or on the barn side of the road they have loads of them already picked. And many colors! Pink, gray, green, white, variegated. Even Cinderella ones! And boxes of mini pumpkins, gourds, squash, you name it! Also lots of seasonal decor in the barn. Be careful tho, pricing is a bit bizarre. They take cards and cash. The corn maze is cash only and you'd be better to have it with you than stand in the LONG line for people paying for pumpkins from the field. I'll know next year....it's rather long to stand there twice.... But if you're looking to go somewhere and spend a few fall hours, this is definitely you're place! We can't wait to see what next season holds! read more

I've stopped here for produce and sometimes their marion berry pie. The produce is always good and the pies, which are made as "crisps" (no top crust) have always been excellent. I ordered an apple pie and a pecan pie for Thanksgiving, and I must say both pies were a BIG disappointment! The apple pie crust was a wreck - it looked horrible. And they used so much cinnamon that they could have called it a cinnamon pie! Nasty sweet with a ton of cinnamon. No thanks. The pecan pie was fine inside, but the pecans on top and the pie crust were burned. The crust was so badly burned that it was almost black! Had I noticed this at the cash register, I would have never taken the pie. Frankly, a quality place like Schuh farms should have never sold it to me. What a disappointment! Oh, and yes - the pies were very expensive too boot! I might continue to buy a berry crisp from them from time to time, but I learned my lesson regarding their apple pecan pies!!! read more

Very unhappy with Schuhs policy of charging $1.00 extra when purchasing with a Visa debit card. Complaining about the fees charged to business by the banks, that is a cost of doing business. My husband and I take an annual trip to get Mt. Vernon corn to make Corn Relish. This year our regular suppliers, Skagit Valley Produce, didn't open and their phone is disconnected. We needed a new source. We buy about 100 to 150 years a year, so a farmers market wasn't going to have the quantity we were after. However, we felt it was a place to start. We attended the Mt. Vernon Farmer's Market and asked around. We were directed to Schuh Farm. The staff were very pleasant. The store was very small but well equipped. We bought 50 ears. My husband said that just wasn't enough. I said we could come back for more if we need it. (If you go, get twice as much as you think you'll need!) we made 33 pints of Cohen relish with our corn. We also bought a black watermelon which was a little bit sweeter than a regular watermelon. We bought a bumbleberry (raspberry, blackberry, and something else) pies which was pretty tasty. A week later my husband wanted more corn so we went back to the Schuh farm. Almost no corn. It was nature's fault, the weather had turned and it was pouring. Rats. It's almost a two-hour trip, one-way. We left defeated. The owner recommended we call before we come next time. Very sensible suggestion. On our way home we had to pass the Skagit Valley Produce again and across the street there's a 76 station. Someone was selling corn out of their very full truckbed. We got all the corn my husband could ever want (80 more ears) and it was just as amazing as the Schuh farm corn for the same price. read more

The best place to buy local produce in Skagit Valley! A bigger selection than all the other farm stands, and better prices. Produce selection varies by season, but includes a wide selection of local berries during berry season. Some produce is grown right there on their own property, and was picked just that morning. The last time I was there, I bought a head of red leaf lettuce that had been grown in their own garden... it was bigger than a basketball, too big to fit in a clear plastic produce bag, tasted DELICIOUS, and only cost a few dollars! Also sells small houseware-type gifts (most are not locally made), locally baked goods, and garden starts/plants during the growing season. One of the few farmstands in the area that takes debit/credit cards. Tons of parking. Small espresso stand on the highway side of the lot. Visiting with kids: walk past the main store to the little white barn right behind it. You can check out the chickens, and feed them scratch from a dispenser for 25 cents. Bok bok! read more

We stopped in to buy a few things. When we looked at our receipt 10 minutes later in the car, they had charged us $30 for a half flat of strawberries. We were shocked, so phoned them and were told the 1/2 flats were $18. So we asked why we were charged $30. She paused and then said, Oh, my mistake, they are $30. During the summer/fall garden season they have $10 produce boxes that change weekly/depending on what's in season. I went a couple weeks ago and got 1 lb. peaches, 1 lb. green beans, 1 bunch of spinach, 1 pint of boysenberries, a green and a yellow zucchini. It's true what they say about the pies here. They are decent and offered in mini sizes as well. However, it wasn't that late in the day that we went and right around the first 4 we tried to choose were sold out. So I am not sure if they are understaffed, but you would think that if the pies are that popular they would want to keep the popular pies stocked and make some doggone money? Anyways, beyond that, it's a fun place. The buildings are nice looking, they have adorable animals right within viewing and petting reachability. The kids that were present that day had a blast interacting with the little goats. You could hear and see cows mooing in the distance. They had TONS of gourds and pumpkins there. There was an espresso stand right out front which seemed lucky for them because it shares their parking lot (might even be owned by them) and I am sure a legit espresso stand is going to draw in extra business since folks would already be right there in the parking lot. Stopped by and bought some excellent fresh bread and some pies during the Tulip Festival two weeks ago. While paying for food items I accidently (and stupidly) dropped $160 out of my wallet and did not notice. Young lady who works there (I think her name was Jennifer) found my money later and held on to it to see if someone would be looking for it. I was super happy when I called that she had found it and she sent me a check in the mail to return the money to me. Jennifer, thank you so much for doing this, you have restored my faith in humanity! I am super grateful to you for doing this! You have a lovely farm shop with great bakery items. Just came back from u-pick raspberries today. SURPRISE! They now charge everyone $2.00 just to go in their fields and pick!!! Ridiculous! Not only that, the lazy girl at the stand didn't rinse the nasty buckets from previous pickers and when I asked her if she had any clean buckets she gave me a soaking wet bucket. Genius. Wet buckets equal moldy raspberries. I won't be back. There are plenty of wonderful u-picks to choose from. read more
