My husband and I looked at a rental property. The woman who called my husband to say we didn't get the property because of a misdemeanor 15 years ago (by law you can only go back 7 years) was very rude and very unprofessional. She was yelling at him over the phone. If you have a traffic ticket you will be disqualified for renting any of their properties. Another woman called my husband back and said the woman was wrong for saying those things and wanted more information from us which was already given. They charge you an "application fee" to even view the property. The shady reason they give is because "there are people living there" which makes no sense at all. How do I know if it's a real listing? That's how all scams run. And furthermore how do I even know I WANT to apply until I view the property and see it for myself??? On top of that they demand another $40 "processing fee"......It sounds like a scam and even if they use the loophole that a few of their listings are real....I guarantee you that most of their listings are fake. Don't fall for it. And never ever ever pay anything until you see the place. read more

Absolutely do NOT rent from these people. Also, the rent goes up every year. stayed there for two years and took pretty good good care of the place, they gave me 43 dollars of my deposit back, which should have been close to 700 dollars. I paid 200 dollars to have the whole apartment carpet cleaned, and they took it out of my deposit anyways, the only damage was a closet door that was off its tracks, but they nickled amd dimed it for what should have been a half hour work to call it 738 dollars. Stay away from Hauenstein at ALL COSTS. They are thieves. I gave them a deposit on a rental property by my company transferred me before I could ever move in. I gave them 30 days notice that I could not move into the property and they had it rented for move in 15 days after my move in date. They kept my deposit despite having the property rented and with my 30 days prior notice that I had to move to NY for my job. The staff is rude and unapologetic. inutes ago Disgusting predatory company. My fiancé and I spoke with the owner of a property we were interested in renting. The property had been completely trashed by previous tenants that this agency had put in there for 8 years. The owner has the responsibility of fixing it before new tenant can come in (this is his childhood home btw). He liked me and my fiancé, and wanted to rent it to us for a reasonable price, but Diane made it clear to me on the phone that they would not respect his wishes, and that in her opinion he was "muddying up the process". Well when we spoke again with the owner we found out this agency preyed on his ailing father before he passed, and convinced him to sign a contract stating that they could have partial ownership of the property and have total rights to determine rent. I don't know how this is legal, my fiancé has a good job, and we have fabulous credit, but this is now beyond our means, for no reason but horrible greed. read more

This place is such a joke! The employees are terrible! They DO NOT INSPECT UNITS PROPERLY! They allow ppl to move into dirty unkept units, and do not check for basic things such as WORKING HEAT! (but will sign off on the move in check list, and when questioned they do not have any idea who "did the walk thru inspection" ) They have awful customer service when it comes to long time tenants 8+ years renting. Lastly, when it comes to health issues, such as MOLD they do not take it seriously. They will tell you " It will always come back, no matter how many times you clean it off". read more

Overall, the apartment I rented through the agency was nice. I lived there for 13 months. 2 bedrooms, large living room, dining room and decent size kitchen. It was great to have a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer in the apartment. The rent was very affordable for a single person which is why I was so interested in the first place. Upon move in, there were so many damages that maintenance was there twice a week for about 6 weeks fixing everything. I was told the windows would be replaced within 3 months of me moving in. However this did not happen until about 10 months later. Over the time I lived there, I had 3 sewer back ups and a major mold issue. I would call the agency and it would take them at least 1 week to 1 month to return my call. With issues on the weekends, the emergency number was great since they responded right away. With the mold issue in the one bedroom, it ruined all of my shoes in the closet and my $400 bed that was purchased less than 1 year prior. The agency did not have any type of solution for me, except telling me to buy a dehumidifier. They claimed the mold issue was due to old windows, which means if they would have replaced them when they said they would originally, I might not have had this issue at all. I purchased a dehumidifier and it did not help my problem at all. Obviously there is a major issue going on that they don't feel like really addressing. I wasted a lot of time and money cleaning everything that I could and still had to throw away many shoes and my bed. Hauenstein did not compensate me for any of these issues. I was not always notified of outside maintenance which was a true inconvenience. They decided to cut down all the trees behind my apartment, and the company left and did not come back until 4 days later to clean up all the branches. Truly disrespectful to tenants who have dogs as I had to go out back and move a bunch of branches myself. Upon leaving, my parents and I spent 8 hours cleaning the entire apartment, including shampooing all of the carpets. I did not get my full security deposit returned. The cleaning company charged me for 5 hours of cleaning which they listed included vacuuming. Which was complete nonsense. I do not believe they spent more than 1 hour cleaning the entire place since I did everything before them. I decided to let it go however my mother was livid and called Hauenstein to discuss this issue. She was told they would review the situation and give me a call. It has officially been 2 months since I moved out and still have not received a phone call. I would not recommend renting through this agency to anyone as I felt very disrespected the entire time I lived there. read more
