Filete de Pescado,Empanizado a la Carte. 11. Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich

I've been coming here consistently since I moved in the area two years ago. It's not super cheap but the quality and the portions are so worth it. I'm pescatarian and there are great options :) My favorites include the egg & cheese breakfast sandwich, fried fish with beans, plantains and rice, the pizza empanada is amazing and the hava mocha espresso shake. I crave the breakfast sandwich often, the bread is so good and crispy. Also the workers are so friendly. Love this place!

My parents made a trip to visit us in NY. Before arriving they asked if we wanted anything. I decided to go with the Ropa Viejo Platter with White Rice & Black Beans. I initially wanted yellow rice with black beans but they didn't have yellow rice that day. I also ordered two Beef Empanadas. My mom gave me her a container of her oxtail gravy but I didn't need it. The platter was packed to the brim. The Ropa Vieja paired well with the white rice and black beans. The meat was tender while the rice and beans were seasoned well. The food was so flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

The food was good. I won't say it was great... but tasty. I ordered the Cubano sandwich and some beef empanadas. The bread was long and thin, as opposed to shorter and wider. I've had different people tell me each style is the correct way of doing it, but who knows. Bread was good. The ham was tasty, I felt like the pork was a bit dry. It needed a bit more flavor to it. Still overall, a good sandwich, The beef empanadas were very tasty. As one who makes Mexican food at home, I can understand how they made theirs. From what I can tel, it was ground beef with a little bit of onion and either green pepper or maybe jalapeños... there was so little to it, it's tough to tell. And then some chili powder, cumin, garlic... maybe paprika... salt & pepper. And there you have it. It was deep fried, because the shell was toasty all over it. I could easily have a few of those by themselves. Service was good. I placed a to-go order so service was limited in nature, but the young lady was pleasant. Overall ambiance was a simple sandwich shop that would crank out some good East Coast Cuban food. I would go there to try more of the menu over time, if you like Cuban food.

Went there yesterday with some friends. Had a wonderful time. I enjoyed BBQ ribs...the sauce was sweet and tasty. The meal was good. My friends enjoyed the pulled pork.

One of my favorite sandwiches growing up. Such nostalgic memories of this very infamous sandwich. This is the Cuban sandwich which consists of season pork roast, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, yellow mustard all placed over Cuban bread. I also had to get an all time fav the guava and cheese puff pastry. Made with Guava past and cream cheese makes the perfect Latin combo! So toasty and tender and most importantly so flavorful, this sandwich is a must try and you have to finish it off with a sweet treat like the guava and cheese puff pastry. The staff were very friendly and inviting, Will be back for more!

    Black beans and pernil entree

This is one of my local go-to's when I want good comfort food. I stopped in last night and was especially impressed with the presentation. I usually pick a platter combo from the numerous choices at the hot table: a meat or chicken dish, white or yellow rice, red or black beans, maduros and/or yucca with garlic and onion. Staff is consistently friendly and very attentive at this neighborhood mom and pop corner spot, nice and quiet, and always a steady stream of customers. I've had the best made to order mofongo, and their pork tamales are always moist and flavorful. Great coffee! This time I had pernil and asked for some crispy pork skin and was given more than I expected, accompanied with rice, black beans and a generous 4 pieces of maduros. It was especially good and I had enough pork and rice leftover for lunch today, and it still tasted great.

Delicious! The pollo guisado and beef empanadas were moist and flavorful. Seasoning on point and not bland. The Cuban sandwich was really good and huge - would have liked more of the mustard. Very reasonable pricing. Will order again!

After searching and googling, we decided on here to try the Chicharrous.
    Juices2240 S.

I ordered a side order of red beans to go. I was a little disappointed with the amount of liquid..a little watery. The chicharros was good. Service was lousy. The server was nice but preoccupied. The place was empty but looked clean. I will give it a second try.

From start to finish, the staff and manager were absolutely phenomenal. The service was attentive, organized, and warm, especially impressive given the size of our group. The food was delicious and came out timely for everyone, which made the evening run smoothly and enjoyably. What truly set this experience apart was when our daughter's graduation cake unfortunately fell and was ruined. Without hesitation, the manager went out personally and purchased a replacement cake for her. That level of kindness, professionalism, and genuine care is rare and deeply appreciated. To top it all off, the bill for 25 people was very affordable, making the night even more enjoyable and stress-free. Rumba Cubana turned what could have been a disappointing moment into a truly memorable celebration. Exceptional service, great food, and outstanding management -- we will absolutely be back and highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions.

We ordered fish & chips and a Cuban sandwich. Bold moves, apparently. The fish was so tasteless, I think I offended it by taking a bite. Honestly, frozen supermarket fish would've put up more of a fight. The fries? Also running for the "most bland" award. And the Cuban sandwich--ham, cheese, and shredded pork so thin I had to squint to find the protein. A whisper of meat. A ghost of flavor. But wait, it gets better. A Snapple? $4.00. For that price, I expected someone to at least open it for me. Instead, zero service--and yet, the screen still flipped around asking for a tip. The audacity? Inspiring. This is a clean casual eating restaurant with a colorful upbeat vibe, Spanish wall art and music. They have cafeteria style steam trays and some tables. I think they do a lot of take-out. Not having a lot of Cuban food experience, I did recognize the empanadas ($3,95), fried pork, red and black beans and yellow rice before settling on a Cuban sandwich ($12.95).The sandwich was just what I needed at the time. Hot, flavorful and the ham and pork was hot, well seasoned and juicy. The bread had a crispy cover but soft on the inside. I understand that the Abuela still does some of the cooking. I usually eat around 3pm so at 5:30 I was starving. I'll be eating more Cuban food in the future!

My husband ordered a chicken empanada and it was filled with chicken and rice and not fully fried. When I asked the server to fry it some more, she brought a new one out that was a bit more fried but just as pale as the first one. The inside was not tasty at all and it was definitely not colombian. Then there was the stale Colombian beef empanadas. These were probably the worst of all. We also ordered a bread that we asked if it was filled with cheese, the server said yes....and it had ham and cheese, so my son did not eat it. This could've just been a miscommunication, but most places tend to clarify when it is not just cheese, but also includes something else with it. The menu is very small, so I decided to order a burger which was made with pulled beef and was actually delicious. They also have Colombian style scrambled eggs and coffee which my husband liked. If it's just based on food I would say it was 50/50 your chances of getting something tasty, but because the service was not attentive or friendly (we were the only people in the cafe for awhile), it is not a place I would return to. Maybe it was just an off day?
