I was attending a friend's mother's wake. Arriving at 4:30 and staying for about an hour, I headed to my truck. By luck the Cuban Breeze was right next to the funeral home. I'm Cuban and I have to say the flavor is very authentic. Even my 88-year-old mom said the food was very good. I've been there a few times for Cuban sandwiches and Yucca with Mojo. Never disappointed. I took my mom. She tried the lechón con moro and fried plantains. She raved about it for days. America, the host, was super nice and has always greeted me with a smile. The cafeteria style place was fine and the staff were responsive and cordial. The menu was very full and the fresh juices were tasty. The food was flavorful, but must admit the food temps were not what I expected. Should have served us hotter/warmer than it was. The one main dish after several apps was fine, but needed to be warmer. I wanted a local business with CUBAN in the name to make me smile and be happy. Everything looks really good when you walk in, but the looks really didn't match the tasted. It also could have been what I got. The whitw rice and the Erica sauce had the most flavor. The Garlic pork lacked flavor and garlic. The meat was really soft, but lacked seasoning. The beans were ok, but too watery for my taste. I would possibly try something else in the future because I like to give second chances, but for the price and the amount of food you get it may not be right away. They will ask cash or credit, if you say cash, they will not give you a receipt up front, they make you go up to the counter and ring you up take your money, then ask if you want a paid receipt, but with out the details of the order, so ask. Always get the one with your order details on it, because they ring you up hoping you decline to see the detailed receipt because they charged you without you knowing. It's happened twice to me...by 2 different women working there. They fooled me once, but the second time I asked for the detailed receipt and after I was given the receipt, the price went down by almost 30% from the original price I received when I went to pay. Good help is hard to find, especially when they are thieves. They are sneaky with a smile...always get your detailed receipt regardless of cash or credit. To ownership...It sucks because you're hurting your own customers, who will undoubtedly eventually just go somewhere else; i checked and there are a lot of Latin restaurants that moved into the area and I've looked up 3 cuban restaurant within 10 mins from this location and tried one already and the food is just as good, so you might lose business, and it's a damn shame. read more

We got the vaca frita (the best I've had), pernil (super tender with crunchy skin) and grilled garlic chicken (flavorful and smothered in grilled onions). Tried all 3 types of rice and both types of beans. Black beans are full of flavor, as were the pinto beans. Yellow rice was my fave, but white and black were good too. Also got the Tres Leches cake, which was the BEST I've ever had. Not too sweet and light, fluffy whipped cream on top. You can tell all of the food is homemade, even the desserts. Cuban food is either going to be commercial and very good but in shady neighborhoods (Paterson, Newark) or just so-so and way overpriced with views of Manhattan on the Hudson. I went here with a good sized order and the service was tortoise slow. Add another employee to the mix. Ambiance zero. Combo orders to go were 75% rice and 25% meat. Pappa Rellenos were the only thing I'd go back for, they were outstanding. My advice for Cuban/Latin Food is to checkout some places in Clifton and North Bergen/Union City.
