We are so fortunate to have found them years ago by neighborhood recommendation. We have personally referred several others. Miss Kim and her staff are absolutely wonderful! My children have gone through almost every room in the facility and each one has been exceptional. The staff has been consistent throughout our time there which says a LOT. There is very little turn over keeping the learning environment for the children a top priority. Most daycare facilities cannot say the same. One of our children had some significant health issues at one point and the center was on top of it. Another has an anaphylactic allergy and I never worry about his allergy. My children's education and emotional well-being has always been approached with respect, care, and an enormous amount of experience. This week we will be ending our daycare journey as we are aging into kindergarten with our youngest. I've teared up several times already. It will be bittersweet leaving our children's home away from home. 10/5 stars. Cannot recommend enough.

At the beginning, I had to ask for pictures and check in on my son because of course when I would drop him off he would be crying. I understand that as teachers, they're busy. But if there are 3 adults to 12 kids, one should be able to send messages during nap time. I'm not sure what the point of having Class Dojo was if they don't communicate anything. I also didn't like when I registered, it was such a quick process that I felt uneasy because I had no clue who the teachers were or what the room set up was like. When I asked to see the room to get a better picture of where I would be leaving my son, they had to show me a video of it on their iPad? The whole thing made me hesitant. I was thankful that they accepted my son, but ...eh. And what I disliked the most was that although I understand COVID is still going around and there are little ones...they wouldn't let parents in yet and we had to pick up one at a time even though none of the teachers were wearing masks. I feel that if they were really concerned about COVID then they should let parents in with a mask since now it seems that things are returning to normalcy. I feel like it was a way to not let parents in. I wanted to be able to pick up my child and see what he was doing instead of waiting for them to pack up his things and give him to me. And I had no idea who was giving me my child. I didn't know if they were his teacher or not. I only knew Joy, the director, and she was nice but no one else ever introduced themselves to me or shared one thing that my child did during the day. As a first time parent, I desperately wanted to know how my child was doing and develop a relationship with his teachers but the drop off and pick up process was so quick. and as someone who used to work in a day care, you gotta share something the child did. Anything! What was he playing with? Were they a great eater or sleeper? They did provide a paper copy of the child's day supposedly but I honestly felt it wasn't personalized and they probably put down the same thing for each kid in the pink room. It felt like pulling teeth trying to develop a relationship with his teachers. Maybe it's a great place for the older kids. But it wasn't for us.

Admin didn't respond to us until after the window closed saying our date wouldn't work and we'd have to pay for the whole month. Lots of back and forth that ultimately resulted in us losing our deposit because of lack of communication on their end. Had they replied even within a few days of our initial email, we could have made alternative arrangements to withdrawal sooner to avoid paying for an additional month and received our deposit back. They are now ignoring my emails to get my statement for our tax return. I'd simply avoid due to the negligence of the admin team (which others have stated also).

I'm writing this review as a former…read moreclassroom teacher and current parent as all three of my children attend(ed) BLOCKS at the Oak Park location. My now 15 y/o sophomore started there in 2008, followed by my now 8 y/o son, and currently my 3 y/o daughter is there. Through the years, our overall experience has been positive. I'm sure there's been an occasional mishap here or there, but nothing so significant to mention. If we did ever have an issue the staff: teachers and director are always quick to respond. All the teachers are awesome. Ms. Jo, the former preschool teacher will always have a special place in our hearts. The current infant teacher, Ms. Ofelia has worked there since my sophomore son was there! She is so attentive and nurturing. When it's time, Ms. Ramona is the best with assistance for potty-training!!! As the children get older, they move from room to room: starting in the infant to toddler to preschool room with age appropriate curriculum and focus. The children learn through play and direct instruction. There's even parent-teacher conferences when they start the Preschool program. Our children don't always like to get up in the mornings, but they always look forward to going to "school." They are excited when we pick them up and happy to share what they learned that day. They have daily story time, morning meetings to discuss weather, calendar and write the days of the week. There always the typical thematic seasonal/holiday craft project they come home with (even in the infant room)! There's singing, dancing and children's music is always playing - it's a happy & joyful place to be. Obviously there's no substitute for parents caring for their own your child, but with both my husband and I as working parents we have always felt reassured and confident sending our children here. The hours are pretty awesome too!
