We have been through multiple day cares over the last three years, and both of our children (1 and 3) love this daycare, as we have been here for about a year. We plan on bringing our future child to Cadence as well. The teachers are fantastic. Jen truly cares about each and every family that goes to Cadence, and it cascades down to their teachers. My daughter started in the pre-k room just short of turning four and she would do anything to get out of "learning and working on letters." Within the first week of her being back at school she was writing letters in her name and now can write her full name and asks to go to school each day so she can learn. She loves Ms. Tait and i couldn't be more appreciative for her patience while working with my daughter on her level to help her excel. She sat with her and helped correct her pencil grip then did different fun and exciting activities to teach her letters and sounds. On paper and while touring Rogy's this place looked great. Soon after starting discovered it was not what it appeared. First I will start with the positive the girls in my son's room were super kind and sweet. However, they were not "lead teacher". The "lead teacher" whose picture was posted on the door and was listed on paperwork was not in the room on a regular basis and she told me herself she only filled in for breaks. How does that make her the lead teacher? Next it does not appear that they follow their lesson plans at all. Granted my son was in the infant room so not that I expected him to do much. But every week we received this plan stating what was happening and it included crafts, tummy time, and other activities. During the four months he was there we never received any evidence that he actually did anything, not one picture or craft. Then two months into his time at Rogy's they had picture day, apparently the photographer put him on his tummy and they stated oh we didn't know he didn't like being on his tummy. By this point he was actually a lot better on his tummy as he had learned to roll over, but they had no idea because he never was exposed to tummy time there, despite the fact that it was listed on the plans everyday. Finally when you walk in the room all the infants are either in swings (with children crying or climbing up and trying to turn off the swing, probably too old for the swing), bouncy chairs, cribs (when they aren't napping and according to their log, las woke up two hours ago), or in the play area climbing on things and trying to get over the wall, or crying. The main issue I had was with the management here which is why the place is not what it could or should be. They don't seem to make sure that staff are informed of policies, train staff on child developmental stages, ensure that lesson plans are being implemented, or even check that child communication logs are being filled out completely and honestly, when I would pick my son up often girls would be asking what time was this child's diaper changed or feed. When I expressed concern about not doing what said the management just stated, "well sometimes in the infant room its hard to do everything." She didn't explain why staff had no idea after two months how my son would react to tummy time and never did anything to fix this. Without any notification they replaced the director, I only found out about this when I called about a billing issue. The new director seemed to put somethings in place, such as labeling bottles, but I guess this is something that is required of all licensed childcare facilities, but did nothing about other concerns such as way too much time spent confined in chairs and swings, not following lesson plans, and teachers listed as Lead Teacher not actually in classroom. While looking at other facilities learned that the sticking of children all day in swings, bouncy chairs, cribs not for sleeping is considered a restrictive environment and is not allowed at any other center. Maybe this place would be better in an older classroom, but do not send your infant there. I should have moved my son earlier, but at the time didn't know if this was the norm for infants, thank goodness I found out it is not. read more

So the ownership of this daycare has changed and the management is different from the Rogy's mentioned in previous reviews. I would say the director (Jen) is really trying to turn this place around. My 3yo son attended and they were very engaging with him, doing little projects, letters of the week, extra enrichment activities (soccer camp, etc.) available. They kept his art projects in a binder that we took with us when he left for public preschool. Facility is nice and looks to have been updated. Lots of opportunities for open houses, fun events to get to know the school. And very flexible with us for days and hours, since he was not going full time. Great experience for us. read more

We just had first trial day here and so far it's all we wanted from daycare! We already had terrible experience before, so we can compare, and here stuff is really caring! My daughter has been attending Cadence Academy Preschool since September of last year and she has learned so much each day. She loves all of the teachers there who treat her as their own child. She is recognizing letters and spelling words and she is only 3. The teachers are very patient with her because she is a very picky eater, and they encourage her to try new things and keep trying. I have seen the improvement in her and love all that the school is doing. The staff are all warm and welcoming and make me comfortable leaving her there. read more

This place is bad! My child has been attending this daycare for months now and has had several "accidents" since he has been here! They don't want to take responsibility for their role in the incidents, yet always expect you to sign the accident reports! The only good thing about this place is that when corporate has been called, they have responded in a timely manner, and have begun to make the proper changes that are a must for any daycare ( i.e. employee training, better camera system, etc). But the place still gets one star due to the frequency of the accidents as well as the "Gossip Girl" type of environment that it feels like every time I pick up my son. There are so many better places within a 10 min drive of this place. read more

My son's first month there was awful, he broke out in a full body rash, and has struggled with fever's for the last year. I loved his second set of teachers but they had to take orders from the director which switched my sons class without telling any parent. The new curriculum is not good my son has learned nothing in the new room, teachers are ok but have to take orders. He is not challenged. The menu seems to be horrible and my son is always hungry when he gets home. (lots of fatty carbs). It may be in a convenient location but over priced compared to the other centers in the area. Be weary of this place the director puts on nothing but an act. Please do not put your child here. The last post was right things are not done by the book, it may look nice but looks can be deceiving. read more

Awful!!! This place is not following dcfs policies and they admit it!! They under fed my kid and my kid lost a pound! Many times he was not changed and not given milk during the day. There are no structured programs that they claim they are doing... They are not. Teachers in infant 1 room have no experience and no common sense. Their menu appears to be developed in the 70s and never updated! It's all childless young girls running the facility. It's glorified babysitting!!!! Don't put your child here!!! Don't be fooled, corporate doesn't care and is of no assistance. You get what you pay for!! read more

This Center has gone way down hill with in the last year. They may have camera's to watch everyroom but that doesn't mean that your child is safe here. I am pretty sure that there are a number of DCFS violations with in the Bur Ridge Center. The Director and new assistant only care about two things and tht is "themselves" and "money". My child has been hurt so many times and when I confront the director about the issues she just throws a poorly written accident report at me and say SIGN IT! If I am paying all this money for my child to attend a daycare center I should be treated with some kind of respect.The director is always on her cell phone, ALLWAYS fails to give a proper greeting to the parents and children. For example, I dropped my child off at 9am. I said "hello" to the manager and assistant manager and all I got was a harsh attitude. I am not the only parent that has this issue with them. Most of the teachers are wonderful with the children but, there are some that lack the proper qualities that a teacher should have. I have heard teachers yelling at the top of there lungs at children. I have seen children being harshly grabbed by the arm and thrown in what they call "the safe zone". I have even walked in on the toddler teacher cursing out a child. I went to management about that issue and nothing was ever done about it. Another issue with this center is the teacher's have no filter. They talk about very innappropate stuff around the children such as "SEX" and the drugs that they did the night before. I have taken my child out of this center because I want my child to feel safe and beable to be herself with out being yelled at. I don't reccommed this center to anyone. read more

My duaghter loves it here as do I. I feel very comfortable leaving my kid in their care. She eats more there then she eats at home and she is learning alot, even her Dr is amazed at her vocabulary not only English but some Spanish. Not to sure what happened in 2011 with this other lady but my baby has been there since then and I didnt have any problems infact they got her to open up MUCH more as she is the only child at home so was not use to alot of kids or adults. Terrible place!! If there were a 0 I would rate them 0. In 3 year old class they have a bully hitting, pinching and biting other kids,and teachers too.This was a first day care center for my daughter and I was eager to hear what she learned but instead I was terrified with language coming out of her mouth.I'm not sure if they have some curriculum because most of the time everybody was too busy dealing with his misbehavior. She was quiet at first ,but after few weeks started to complain and coming home with bruises.She knew who it was, and most of the time she could describe how it happened. I complained to the director, assistant director, teacher -nobody would do anything to protect my child. I was told they have problem with a same kid for a long time,it is a process and taking a long time to get some progress, they were all sorry for what is going on,I got promises they will keep eye on her, and yet nobody did anything.There should be 2 teachers in the room but leading teacher was leaving early and afternoon teacher was alone,or they would send somebody from the kitchen to help! Few teachers left this place during the short period of time we were there. On Tuesday after Labor Day I came to pick her up, her face was all red. Her afternoon teacher was telling me how she had fun today ,and giving me a report to sign. He hit her face and they were putting ice on her cheek.but now she is ok. It was during the circle time in the morning when he slapped her, but teacher told me she wasn't there,and nobody saw what happened. I refused to sign, went to director again , she was "sooo sorry."again. I asked why nobody called me in the morning - she said "Ooh I wanted to tell you in person!" Nobody called, I doubt they would even tell me what happened if her cheek wasn't so red. It stayed red for two days after that. My child was neglected and hurt and I was lied to. read more

I am a veteran employee of rogys learning place in Burr Ridge and yes we had some issues what business doesn't how ever Kelly C. s child only attended 2 days a week dad would drop off and place his child in a swing right away. And he ran off to work. Mom picked up and she would pick up early which is great because parents should spend as much time with their child as they can. Baby's grow fast and we don't want to miss a minute of that time. However she never seen Ms Niki at work I have . At times I may go in to help out. I am lead teacher in another room. I think Ms Niki gives those baby's 100 percent of herself and My Maya her co teacher the same. I am older so there is no chance I will be having an infant of my own again but I do expect to have a grandchild sometime soon and I would very much trust Ms Niki and Ms Maya to take great care of them. I see them do as much as they can at that age level. I can say I always she them holding and feeding the babies giving them that extra mile. Some of the children are more mobile in that room then expected , for the very limited mobile ones Ms Niki and Ms Maya plan tummy time so that the mobile ones do not hurt the non mobile ones. If this parent had concerns about her child why didn't they go to the director? I Know that our current director and our previous director would have addressed it right away. Both of them have and had children attend our center themselves and expect all the staff to give 100 percent. I just don't feel it fair to rogy's and to our staff to write a review 3 month's after your child has left and blame our center for your child not advancing as quickly as you think they should when they didn't spend that much time with our staff. Also this is the first day care where I have seen so many infants walking before they even were 10 month's old. I have been in the business 38 years I know what I am talking about. read more
