This isn't the first time I've called Fit It. So when my dishwasher stopped working I called them again. The power was completely out. Robert called me and said before I head out there could you confirm no power to the dishwasher. I said yes. He said could you go to the dishwasher and find the switch. He was clearly trying to save me from spending $ for something that would have just been a switch that got turned off. TBH, I had been staring at this switch behind my stove for the last couple of days and wondered if that was the answer, but was scared to mess with it being behind the stove. wish I could give zero stars. I reached out to this company for help with my washer. A technician came here by the name of Gabriel M. He saw The error code my washer was giving and decided to press and hold to buttons to reset the machine. the washer he said should be fine. I paid $85 dollars and he promised me that I had a 90 day warranty so to call in case the code came back on. Sure as when he left my washer code Le came right back so I texted him. He then told me i would need a motor. I was confused as to how just hours ago the washer was stated to be okay then now it needs a motor without him even examining the washer nor showing me what was wrong. Later on he sent me an estimate with 6 different part totaling to 700 dollars. also the 85 dollars is suppose to go to any repairs nowhere in the breakdown was that deducted at all. Knocking off a star. I had them out about a year ago to investigate a nearly brand new dryer that was steaming up during cycles with water dripping down the glass door. The tech was friendly enough and took apart the dryer. He confirmed nothing was wrong with the dryer and offered no other guidance. Flash forward a year, it turns out the vent right behind my drywall somehow got disconnected. I continued using the dryer, and the lint and humidity was getting blown into the space behind my drywall. I now have water under the hardwood floor on the other side of the wall that's probably been collecting and causing damage this entire time. I'm about to find out how expensive the repairs will be. Yes, I feel silly for not getting a 2nd opinion or connecting the dots sooner, but I trusted the professional who told me there was nothing more to be done. In retrospect, this vent problem seems like a pretty obvious possibility for a professional w/d repair person to point me toward instead of merely shrugging when the appliance itself wasn't broken. I suspect if Robert Sr or his son had come out, they would have provided this guidance, but in this instance a different tech was sent out. read more

You know what's awesome? Having a personable, knowledgeable, reasonably priced repair call of any kind. It seems like we're conditioned to expect the worst and I was definitely in that boat. I've repaired many of my own appliances over the years (small clogs, bad diodes, dead motors), but my dishwasher wasn't cooperating. I was pretty sure I knew what the issue was, but I couldn't get access to the parts that needed help. A search on my local neighborhood FB page turned up these folks and one thing I noticed was MANY different technicians were mentioned by name as being exceptional. This gave me some confidence that no matter who came, I would have good service. These folks have a very dialed-in text confirmation set-up including a notice when the technician was on the way. Reggie came on time and was able to quickly learn what I had done and diagnose the problem. He got the stubborn part detached and sure enough - a wayward piece of plastic was the culprit. He got things back together quickly, confirmed it was draining and pre-emptively ordered a sensor to have on hand in case the error message wasn't resolved by the morning. A day later I get a txt message to provide a credit card, so they have it on file. No, we don't send credit card information, we use a debit card on completion, check or cash. Alright, so you shouldn't expect me to give 4 stars after four weeks of misery from a broken washer but I will say that though the owner Robert was a touch slow in responding at times (he's a small business owner and I trust he's busy), he seemed very genuine in his desire to make things right and in acknowledging how rare such events occur. I appreciated his coming down to personally unstack and stack the new washer we had to buy since most stores won't stack a new washer on an existing dryer and he offered before I asked. My wife said he and his team seemed very genuine in making sure everything was hooked up nice. In all, I do feel he was trying to be fair with his handling of the situation. The fact that I would possibly consider trying them again says something. As soon as they left, it did it again. They couldn't come back for another week. This time I ask them to actually try to wash something and test it and yep it was doing it again. They say it needs some parts and they can come back in another week. Today it's been another week and they come and are here a half hour, they leave and say it's fixed. Guess what, it's doing the SAME thing again. I've paid over $400 so far for NOTHING. Avoid this company. I could have bought a new washer and had it in by now for close to this amount! read more

I have a Thermador fridge from the prior owner of the home. Getting it fixed turned into a bit of a mess. The Thermador-blessed repair shop has horrid reviews. Most others didn't have anyone who could do them. Others said "yeah, sure" a bit too quickly. When I spoke with Fix It Guy's scheduling, they gave me confidence that they could service the Thermador because they had a specific technician they needed to schedule. Long-story short: (1) diagnostic visit and (2) a relatively quick follow up and my pool of water and ice in the bottom of the fridge is gone. I had actually called both Fix-It Guy & Act Fast Appliance Repair and initially went with Act Fast as they were cheaper. However.... you get what you pay for. And so fast forward to a month later we then called Fix-It Guy to do the job that Act Fast couldn't. The difference in professionalism was night & day- from the pre-appointment communication levels to the day-of service. The team who came to fix both the dishwasher+washer was fabulous and had the jobs done quickly and were both super friendly. Overall, I had a good experience using Fix-it Guy to repair my dryer. It was easy to communicate with the company and schedule an appointment. The technician was very professional, organized, and efficient: he identified and fixed the issue very quickly and the whole appointment took much less time than I anticipated. The total repair cost was a bit higher than I expected, as the estimate I received did not include mention of the cost of parts, which was considerable. I realize those costs cannot be determined until the issue is assessed, but it would have been appropriate to reference that in the original estimate. Finally, my biggest annoyance is that when processing the payment at the very end, a big gratuity option was displayed on the screen, which really surprised me and made me feel obligated to leave a tip. Tipping is generally not standard practice for a service repair job like this that already cost me almost $400, and I was really surprised and disappointed to be put in that position (and also disappointed in myself for caving under pressure). read more

Oh, the joys of home ownership! Saw a spark coming out of the stove a few weeks ago which gave us a scare. After calling Wolf and turning off the circuit breaker I started my search for appliance repair. Sadly many companies do not work on higher-end appliances. Wolf customer service referred me to a company that would've charged 2-300 dollars just to come out and diagnose the problem. I found Bobby and the Fix-It Guys on Yelp with excellent reviews. Valerie responded to my request for a quote immediately. She was professional and informative. The ease of this process gave me confidence that they meant business! I was able to schedule an appointment within a few days. Scheduling, email/text notifications, digital receipts were all instant. Valerie was a joy to work with. We were fortunate to meet Bobby, the owner of the company to help us out. Apparently our oven fan switch wiring corroded and this was what sparked...the spark! The part was ordered immediately and a follow-up visit scheduled for today, a Saturday. Bobby explained that the part was probably affected by overzealous cleaning spray that got inside the electrical components, causing them to corrode and short-circuit. He repaired it efficiently and we were all done in minutes! His work has a 3 month warranty. I learned about maintenance tips for my oven and a bit about his story and company, which has been in existence for over 10 years now. Fix it guy sent out a technician in Nov. 2019 to repair my tenant's refrigerator that was leaking water. He informed me that a new controller was needed. He ordered the part and replaced it. The job cost me over $350 dollars. The tenant tells me just recently that the same problem is persisting. I went back to Fix It Guy to request another diagnosis. This repair technician tells me that it was misdiagnosed and that a simple drain part was needed. I called the company to ask if they would work with me on the repair cost due to the incorrect diagnosis in November. They refused. They didn't even offer to pay for the new part which only cost $15.00. Fix It Guy, is $15.00 bucks worth losing an entire sell, future business, and a bad review? Well guess what Fix It Guy? Called this morning with a what I thought was a broken dryer.. they set me up with an appointment right away . The repair guy called and asked for a model number so he can pick up the part prior to getting to my house. On their website, you can't find ANY pricing information at all! You can't get any quote either. One of their techs came out to fix a refrigerator in a senior citizen apartment and the cost was $243!! No parts were needed, just unclog one of the tubes. The job took 30mins to do! When I asked about the price breakdown, I was told there was no hourly rate just a standard beginning price of 235.00 plus fees regardless how long the job took!!! That is ridiculous!! They have no problem telling you ahead that there is a 85.00 fee for the tech to come out and look at the problem. However, they DID NOT AT MOMENT SHARE that the minimum price is 235.00!! My tenant brought the refrigerator with her and I offered as a good landlord to go half with her ahead of time. She is 85 years old, leaving alone and not in good health!! This was highway robbery to say the least!!! If it wasn't because it's difficult for her to bend over and clean the leaking water, I would have gone somewhere else without a doubt!!! The $85 service fee was understood right away, but if you want to get technical what am I paying for being diagnosed when I can see the microwave handle fell off. $110 plus $85 service fee for 10 minutes work & no parts necessary. Must be nice to be you! I was told the labor was dependent on the repair. And as it is your website says the service call for a microwave is $65 not $85. $195 for 10 minutes labor and no parts! Where does the $110 come from...hourly, by the quarter hour? So I can let all your future customers know that if they need the repair guy to crawl under an appliance it's going to cost the same as 2 screws...yeah, right. Flat labor, so if you spend 2 hours that customer is only paying $110 for labor? Give me a break! You guys are the only ones making up pricing as you go along. I've dealt with enough of you in my lifetime...and women by far get ripped off the most when it comes to home repairs. How do you sleep at night, rip offs...that's all you repair guys are! I'm so tired of getting ripped off by repairmen & contractors. I had used this company in past because of a broken washing machine. It was an expensive repair and took 2 weeks to get done but it was still cheaper than a new washer (not by much). So I thought I had found a reliable place, guess I was fooled. I was aware of $85 service fee, so I scheduled them to fix the handle on an a microwave & take a look at dishwasher that wasn't draining. The woman scheduling said the labor etc was dependent on what needed to be done & parts, if any necessary. The screws had come off but were inside the door and I didn't want to crack anything so I just would rather it get fixed without me messing it up. The dishwasher ended up being a plumbing problem, so nothing to be fixed. I'll call a plumber. The microwave took less than 10 minutes to fix. He popped the door piece off with a putty knife and screws right there, no parts necessary. He then tallied it up $85 for service call, $110 for labor. I gulped & paid it...mad but what can I do. I paid it. I looked at the clock. He had literally been in my apartment for 23 minutes. About 6 minutes was trying to get the credit card swipe to work & there was a bathroom break (and would've been nice if the seat was put down & he flushed). He left, I'm still upset at paying & $ 195 for someone to screw two screws in & less than 10 minutes labor. $85 for service call, I expected a bit over that but nothing else was required...no screws nothing. Then I look at the handle and it's apparent to me that there's an upside and downside to it and it's screwed on wrong. The lip of handle now hanging just a tad past the door. I called back immediately. He came back and you know what- I let him have it. $110 for 10 minutes labor, no parts, etc. He hurried out left the door as is. I took out my own putty knife and screwdriver and fixed it. Wish I had in the first place now. I'm tired of being ripped off by repair places. Have some decency. I don't make $300 an hour nor do most people. Don't try to scope customers out and see how much you can squeeze out of "this sucker". I've had it with electricians, plumbers, contractors, auto repair & appliance repairmen. The tech said they'd refund the $110 but until it appears on my statement I don't trust anyone. Here's a friggin idea! Charge people a reasonable charge for labor...not $110 for two screws that took 10 minutes. I'm extremely confused I used their service on August 13, 2021, the repairs were made, and I paid the bill $204.48 (although they had to come back, the repairs were not completed correctly) After not connecting the hoses to my washer. Which took 3 days to get the repairman back. Now, January 18, 2022, they charge my card another $90.00 ( your required to give credit card info to book a appointment ? )( I should have known then ) I feel as though I'm getting scammed, and no resolution after calling their office. The lady who answered the phone said they failed to charge me for parts, but my bill shows a charge of $139.48 for parts and $65.00 service charge for the total $204.48 after I disputed my charges with my credit card I received a call from the business's owner who apologized and tried to explain the additional charge but agreed that it was done incorrectly and agreed to drop the erroneous $90.00 charges and I asked him to delete my credit card info. I had called the Appliance Repair Doctor for an appointment, but their repair person was on vacation. The owner recommended these guys. Was able to set up the appointment on Yelp, which was great. They were quite responsive and I was able to get an appointment in no time. I got a text message a day before the appointment as a reminder as well as a link to download an app called House Call. Very useful app as it had all of the info for my appointment Can't say enough good things about Robert and his assistant Horace. Both gentlemen were professional and pleasant. The repair to the frig was done in about 10-15 mins. The dishwasher took a little longer, but they were able to troubleshoot it, order the part during the visit and schedule a visit to do the repair in several days. I hope I don't have to see these guys that often but man they will be on list of people to call if I need something repaired at home.
