My friend's daughter played soccer at that park, and called it "Civic Field". The park isn't even on Google maps, but it has a small restroom that I'm afraid to use because of the homeless people that are hanging around. Anyway, some things are not under our control. I just want to warn library patrons about the environment. Yesterday, a guy was swearing - I think at the police next door - while a small group of characters loitered outside the park's restroom; and an "auntie" sat in the far corner of the new parking lot with her shopping wagon, covered with a blue tarp. During another visit, there were some bodies, covered in blankets and sleeping bags, lying on the landing between the stairs from the parking lot to the library. Instead of hopping over them, I walked up the steep driveway, not wanting to wake them up... It's kinda spooky and makes me not want to stay at the library for a long period of time, especially if the sun is going down... I just run in, pick up a DVD that I had reserved online, and leave as soon as possible. It's sad, but what can be done? It is a really nice area... The library has great facilities, free wi-fi, $1 movie rentals for a whole week, and other outstanding resources like Storytelling hour for the keiki. The librarians are so patient and helpful! The restroom is clean and functional, even though the building is old and could use a facelift. There's even a Friends of the Library bookstore at the parking lot level! HOURS OF OPERATION: Open 10 am - 5pm on Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday; 10am - 8pm on Monday & Wednesday, 1pm - 5pm on Fridays Closed on Saturdays and State Holidays I will still continue to support our local library - just have to stay on alert mode! In my opinion, they are a great community resource that is often underutilized and under appreciated. We live in town, but have been to this library a few times because they were cohosting (with Aloha Adventurers Guild) Dungeons and Dragons sessions and our daughters wanted to participate. The games/sessions were held in a fairly large conference room off the main library. Inside the library, there was also a display of DND related books and graphic novels which was a nice connection. My daughters wound up picking up and reading a few. Great community partnership. Ample parking. Clean and organized. Clean bathrooms (VERY important for my wife). Pleasant staff.

Waialua Public Library is a little gem that takes me back in time! It has that vintage library…read morefeel--almost like stepping into an era when card catalogs were still a thing. Always quiet, making it the perfect place to read, work, or meet clients for document signings when they're in the area. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I love all the local newsletters and pamphlets they have available. Plus, parking is a breeze! A charming spot that truly captures the old-school library vibe. I've been here in the conference room for a presentation in the past... and now, I had a chance to visit again and return books from other libraries! It's very convenient with free parking, cool air-conditioning, and pleasant staff! The interior is bright, clean, modern, and spacious! I will return to browse the book sale area and regular books!

I just had to fill out the application. I finally got a card after almost three years of living here lol It's definitely worth it because I can check out books, DVDs, and pretty much anything they offer in the library. I know it's old school but us older generation still comes to the library to read books. I enjoy a wide variety of books including mystery and suspense. I like books that keep me reading. Plenty of parking right up front and the restrooms are right near the entrance/exit. I would come back over and over to see what interesting books are available.

The very best, most knowledgeable and helpful library staff, good selection of books but due to the…read morechronics that hang out all day right at the entryway and the students that cuss, vape, roughhouse yell afterschool also right by the front door, we usually make the drive to nānākuli. I think it's because the "security" guard stays sitting inside instead of walking around and patrolling the outside. Maybe they need to hire more security? Literally the only thing wrong with this library is the front door issue with cussing, vaping, smoking and general safety and health issues.
