In my opinion, they are a great community resource that is often underutilized and under appreciated. We live in town, but have been to this library a few times because they were cohosting (with Aloha Adventurers Guild) Dungeons and Dragons sessions and our daughters wanted to participate. The games/sessions were held in a fairly large conference room off the main library. Inside the library, there was also a display of DND related books and graphic novels which was a nice connection. My daughters wound up picking up and reading a few. Great community partnership. Ample parking. Clean and organized. Clean bathrooms (VERY important for my wife). Pleasant staff.

Reads in the Red I…read moredidnt know this place existed, and didnt know what the red building was until I approached this place after I was in the area. Is the building red because of the red dirt? If so thats is pretty thorough planning. This library is small but contained troves of books and novelties. There is also computers there so its a nice balance between the old and new. I haven't been to a library in awhile and from I saw, it was only very young kids in there and older people. I guess all the people in between dont have a use for the library as much as before, but its nice to walk into one as if traversing the annals of history. Please stay, we still need you.

The library has computers you can use for a limited time. As you enter, it's like going through security. There's a metal detector at the door which is the only entrance/exit to the library. There's also a lady that sits right next to the metal detector. Feels like you're in prison lol I honestly didn't know it was that ghetto at some libraries. Better safe than sorry right? I still liked this library. The restrooms were near the entrance/exit. To he restrooms were also clean. A major plus. There's metered parking in the front but towards the back is free parking. There's also a security guard inside the building before the library. I can see why people can get lost. Lol

I think it's because the "security" guard stays sitting inside instead of walking around and patrolling the outside. Maybe they need to hire more security? Literally the only thing wrong with this library is the front door issue with cussing, vaping, smoking and general safety and health issues.

Its called Umeke Kaeo and the prizes include a McDonalds dessert, resuseable straw and a library bento box. I chose the minute total way since its easier to use the Umeke Kaeo app timer. I finally got a card after almost three years of living here lol It's definitely worth it because I can check out books, DVDs, and pretty much anything they offer in the library. I know it's old school but us older generation still comes to the library to read books. I enjoy a wide variety of books including mystery and suspense. I like books that keep me reading. Plenty of parking right up front and the restrooms are right near the entrance/exit. I would come back over and over to see what interesting books are available.

Waialua Public Library is a little gem that takes me back in time! It has that vintage library…read morefeel--almost like stepping into an era when card catalogs were still a thing. Always quiet, making it the perfect place to read, work, or meet clients for document signings when they're in the area. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I love all the local newsletters and pamphlets they have available. Plus, parking is a breeze! A charming spot that truly captures the old-school library vibe. One of the best public libraries in Hawaii! Not only is it fairly new but, we love the Librarian…read morehere, Ms. Sasha! There's always something for all ages going on! They have monthly craft events, movie nights and more! We especially love Wednesday story time. There's lots of space for little ones with singing, dancing, a craft and of course book reading. Every 1st Wednesday they have puzzles and STEM toys out for little ones to play. Lastly, for older kids and adults, they offer all kinds of reading challenges some through logging books manually, some through the Beanstack app. Currently, during the Olympics, they have a reading challenge where you earn medals! They also have another challenge where you log books to earn prizes. Most recently, we participated in therapets event where you could read to a therapy dog. My daughter loved petting all the dogs and getting to know them! Overall, we absolutely love learning, reading, and playing at the library! Overall, we love learning, reading, and playing here!
