Hawaiian food is hands down my go to food so of course we had to give Hawaiian BBQ a try. We'll cut to the chase and say that I highly recommend coming here. Ate here for first time while visiting a relative. We all loved this place. We started with spam masubi and BBQ beef masubi. Both were very good but the spam was the best. We all had Hawaiian BBQ combo Kalbi short rib, BBQ beef and BBQ chicken. The chicken was boneless thigh meat and was tasty. Beef was thin sliced pieces that were moist and tender. Short rib was good but chewy. Mac salad was really good. (Better than Hawaii). Dinners also came with fried or steamed rice. Nice place with a small diner look. Self serve drinks, Coke products and Gold Peak tea. They have the pellet ice everyone seems to look for. Nice people with good service. You order from counter and they deliver the food. Ordered for pickup-- everything was super hot still by the time we got back to our hotel. Huge portions-- we easily could've split the Hawaiian Mix plate! Chicken katsu was perfectly breaded and very tender. When I've ordered katsu at other restaurants it's often tough and overfried-- definitely not the case with this one. This place is absolutely amazing. I'm not from Alabama and am staying at a nearby hotel. Words cannot express how welcomed I felt at this establishment. The staff is incredibly friendly and I don't mean "friendly because they have to be" but friendly because they want to be. The food was absolutely incredible! I got the Hawaiian Beef Fried Rice and the flavor was AMAZING. From first bite I was incredibly satisfied. I also tried the dumplings which were delicious as well. The atmosphere is so calm. I ordered the spam Masubi, one of the meals but had chicken katsu and short rib as my meats, fried rice as my carb, salad and an additional side of macaroni salad. I washed all of that down with a milk tea. They also have a drive through. There is plenty of space for seating, the bathrooms were clean. Service was ok, we had to prompt someone to clean our table. The food was tasty and fresh. But when the difference between the regular and the mini plates is the amount of rice and Mac salad (2 scoops of each vs. 1 scoop of each), I better see the two scoops. The restaurant just opened a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing! I'd never tried spam musubi but they had it and it was delicious. Everything comes out quickly and very fresh. I really enjoyed the flavor of the crab rangoons as well and the sweet chili sauce that came with it tasted different from others I've tried. I wouldn't be surprised if it was homemade!
