5/20/26 Was needing to get some dry ice and when I checked online, I found Hawaiian Ice Co was the place to go. They are conveniently located on Nimitz not far from Nico's Pier 38. Easy in and out with available customer parking in front of the business/warehouse. Their hours for ice pick-up is also convenient. Open daily: Mon - Sat 4AM - 4PM, Sun 4AM to Noon. After I parked, I went to the door marked Office but it was locked so I headed past the Coke vending machine and entered thru the huge warehouse door and immediately to the left was the order window with a huge sign below showing the prices for ice. I rang the bell on the counter & was nicely greeted by a friendly young lady. She asked me how I was paying & that if I am using a card to go ahead & use the ordering kiosk to the right. It's pretty user friendly, very easy to use. Once I paid and got my receipt, she told me someone will bring my order out. I don't think I even waited 5 minutes before a guy brought my bag out and I was on my way. I did do a double take when I saw the price for dry ice, 5 lbs for $28? Roughly $6/lb - wow! Did not expect that but since I needed it, had to get it. The rest of the prices for the regular ice were within reason. I went there to buy 8 40 pound ice around 2:50 pm on February 14 the cashier told me to go to the loading dock. When I was walking to my truck and I started my car and I was looking outside my window which loading dock I have to go to and this micronesian employee went out I thought he was gonna tell me where to go but instead he said why u keep on looking at you you have a fcking problem and I said no and he proceeded to go to his car like wtf he has a attitude. read more

Buying bagged ice from this company is a crap shoot when you actually want to put it in a drink...lets say...water? When you get a bad bag (and that happens more often than not) you will get a bad metallic taste. I think their production machines need to be sanitized more often. But if you want basic cooling of drinks and stuff its just fine. read more

One of those modern conveniences we value most living in a hot climate is ice. We would never be able to keep up making it ourselves, so we always buy bags of Hawaiian Ice from 7-Eleven or Foodland. The ice is super clean with a great taste, plus prices are reasonable and we know our money is going to a local company. Running errands one weekday morning recently, I stopped at Nico's Pier 38 for poke and worried about it getting warm. I thought I'd finally check out the factory and store of Hawaiian Ice and am so glad I did. Also located on Pier 38, they have plenty of parking for the company store; you can see where their delivery trucks also load. The entrance is a garage window, with a simple menu on the way. The prices here are cheaper, plus they offer bulk sizes and dry ice you can't get anywhere else. The clerk at the window was friendly to answer all my questions and ring me up; another employee quickly came out to offer assistance for loading, which would be a great option for people buying a lot. For me, driving to Pier 38 from Mililani is worth it! Are used to buy ice from the local grocery store, and I guess it was OK. But I once had a larger party where I needed more ice on a busy holiday weekend, and I was afraid the stores would be sold out. So I went to Hawaiian ice and it was so easy to buy the amount of ice that I needed. But what was a real nice surprise is that the ice lasted far longer than the grocery store type. I bought the ice Saturday afternoon, and while still in the cooler, I still had ice on Monday morning! I won't hesitate to make the drive to Hawaiian ice at Pier 38 in the future! read more

For the past couple years I've been coming to Hawaiian Ice for their Dry Ice. You need to purchase a minimum of 5lbs and it can become a bit pricey but hey, the contents of my cooler needs it. There was a time when their machine to make dry ice was down but hey it's happens! Aside from dry ice, you can walk in to buy big bags of ice (Costco size), or the small ones. Hawaiian Ice supplies many stores on the islands and I would imagine also for the fishing industry (it's located along the pier). When I arrived at 4:15, the business was already hustling & bustling! It was an early Sunday morning but the person at the window was very friendly. I ordered dry ice and it was handed to me with a smile and wished me a good day. The 5 lbs. of dry ice lasted about 18 hours and kept my food frozen for my whole flight. I have no idea if what I paid was good value, but it was important that my food stayed frozen, so to me, ignorance is bliss. Needed 50lbs of ice for a plunge tub and previously I had been using either costco or an ice machine on the corner of the Shell station in Aiea. I thought I'd try Nimitz for ice since I would be in town. The fact that they were open on July 4th was a plus. Walk up, pay, and go. It was .50 cents cheaper per 10lbs than the ice machine at the gas station, and you don't need dollar bills since the credit card reader is not always working. And instead of 5 bags, I just bought a 40lbs and a 20lbs. Because it is a little out of the way, I'll stick to the corner gas station, but it is still cheaper here and easier to buy. read more

I travel with frozen goods frequently so I normally will pick up some dry ice before heading to the airport. Occasionally they don't have dry ice so give them a call before heading down. A great place to buy ice in town, especially during the work hours or lunch if you don't want to stand in line at costco or want to buy in bulk. However, it's a little more expensive than costco if you only want one or two bags of ice. Very convenient and fast to pick up ice, especially for a picnic or party because it's located on the left side to the entrance of Nico's. Lots of parking, but limited hours. No hassle of walking it to your car because you can park your car right in front of the freezer if if's not busy. read more

Hawaiian Ice is practically the only company distributing to most stores on Oahu. Summer of 2022, noticed that the ice tastes nasty. Like however the ice is made, it's not clean. We've been buying this brand ever since I can remember and maybe once in a while there was that off taste. But now it is every single bag purchased from different locations! More or less one of the few choices available for dry ice. Get in, get out kind of place. I mean, you're only buying ice. lol. Dry ice come in chunks of varying sizes. I don't know if you're able to ask for a solid brick if you needed that. Got some dry ice to transport breastmilk to the east coast in a 17 hour plus trip. I've done this several times before and the milk stayed frozen with no issue. This time, at the advice of the woman behind the desk, I placed the dry ice in a cold/hot bag. By the time I got to the east coast my milks were liquified and the dry ice was all gone. It cannot hold in a cold/hot bag and she should have known that. She should have suggested regular plastic. Luckily my milks were still cold and salvageable and I didnt waste over 100oz of liquid gold. I would've been devastated and my exclusively breastfed baby would have been without milk. Next time I know to go with my own knowledge and not trust someone just because she works there. Obviously she had no clue. read more

All I have to say is 40lbs of finely crushed ice for $5?!?!? seriously? How much would I have paid at Foodland, 7-11 or even Costco? Its almost like crunchy shaved ice texture. I needed ice for a function that we were hosting and thought that it would be fun to have different kind of ice. From the moment we got there they already called help (the muscle) from the back to assist with the carrying. Ice, ice, baby! Sorry, couldn't resist. Hawaiian Ice Company is located on the side of Pier 38 by Nico's and POP Fishing (makai of Home Depot and Best Buy) and they're open from 4 AM to 5 PM daily. The easiest way to find it is to look for all the ice delivery trucks. It was about $7 for a 40 lbs. bag of cubed ice plus they had a special of 40 lbs. of crushed ice for $3.99. I don't remember how much ice costs at 7-11 or Safeway but getting it direct from the manufacturers seems cheaper. You can also get smaller bags like the 7 lbs. or 20 lbs. but coming to the factory is probably more ideal for larger purchases like the 40 lbs. bag or a solid block. The customer service was great. I just told the cashier what I wanted and the warehouse guy got it and loaded it up onto my truck. I will definitely come back! read more

I'm not sure if the prices are competitive as I didn't price around. The service is quick and friendly, go to the window and order what you want and then they bring it right to you.
