I actually have a photo of being in four different states at once. It's a fun little adventure in the tiny town. Why not add it on to drive through to wherever you're going. Finding this stone was quite interesting considering how we pulled into a graveyard and had to drive all the way in the back. The rock is right underneath a highway bridge, and then look down towards the water. I don't remember seeing any signs or arrows pointing to the direction. Just went down a little trail and there it was. My husband and I took our cute little foot photos on the rock, enjoyed the beautiful scenery, hung out for a little while, then went on our way.

While it's an active track z there was no activity the day of my visit. I was able to explore every bit of the facility and truly feel the history of the site of America's oldest horse track! Very well maintained facility with a museum on site. The track is much larger than I thought it would be. I look forward to a future visit where I'll be able to catch a day of racing.

If you're a hardcore horse racing enthusiast then no travel distance will keep you from this track, however if you're the average (or below) race track goer and you live in the immediate area you just have to stop in and enjoy one of these race events. Even if this type of thing doesn't interest you, it's actually really fun to attend/watch. It was my first experience going to a race track, never really considered it my "cup of tea" and only visited because my young daughter absolutely loves horses; even taking horse riding lessons. We ventured off to one of these local races and we both loved it. My daughter naturally loved it because of her love for horses and I absolutely enjoyed it and have no real interest in horses or racing but it was SOOO much fun to watch. Crowds go crazy as the horses round the corner toward the finish line and you can't help but get fired up by the contagious crowd cheering! Epic feeling and rush as everyone cheers as horses cross finish line. For a small entrance fee you get to enjoy the races taking any seat you'd like and pretty much all the seats are great; no bad seats (i.e. nose bleeds). Local vendors were present as well for family fun entertainment. Various vendors setup to sell or donate items. This year the local ice cream vendor, Trail Side Treats, was in attendance donating FREE ice cream to attendees which was so awesome of that local vendor to do. Food, drinks and even beer are available for sale at the concession stands. Even if you don't care for this type of event or never even thought you'd be remotely interested, I DARE you to try it because it's really cool. For the cost of entrance skip your morning Starbucks and try this place out. Fun people won't regret trying it while those lame boring folks will simply dislike it just like everything else that keeps their lives boring. Haha! I double dog dare you to visit and try it!

Historical building not far from Hawley's downtown shopping area. It is not an all day trip…read moredestination but definitely worth a stop when you're nearby. Restored to house some small businesses, it was nice taking a stroll through and also looking at the various exhibits regarding the building and area's history. One of the first shops we visited was "Uplift" which is right there when you walk in. The woman who was working (maybe the owner) was so informative about the building and surrounding areas and really gave us some great recommendations. She also showed us some of the products she sells and let us try on some lotion. She was great with my son who is always a bit reserved at first, but she got through his shell. Great shop, we purchased a few things that have now become our favorites, most of all, that lotion we tried! If you go downstairs to "The Boiler Room" which is a private event space (do not go in if you see a lot going on, most likely a private party), if the room is empty you can go in (gorgeous space) and through the door to the outside to take a look at the beautiful waterfall behind the building! There is also a cafe steps away outside of the building where you can refresh with a quick snack and beverage or a sandwich!

I don't really like the noise policy which enables one loud person to largely ruin the quiet environment for all others trying to read or study. Workers act irritated and annoyed to answer simple client requests. There's a large parking lot. The budget draws 2 million a year from taxpayers and it seems the high cost derives from excessive fees for digital subscriptions which large Silicon Valley corporations charge local libraries. It's shameful. Hours are limited.

Oh tho- my mom used the library for wifi when our power was out, and she said it was good, and quiet. Again though, I had a library card but didn't really use it. Think one time I was looking for Percy Jackson books and they didn't have it, and was a tween then. Anyways. Went here recently (note 3 stars) on Wednesday July 23rd 2025 because we were moving soon, and I had books and VHS tapes to donate. When I got there, they said no, we don't accept donations-- which i thought was kind of weird. After all, especially if they are vintage books that can still be applicable, donations should be considered. While the person who told me was pleasant and understanding- i just thought it was kind of weird.Again, having books, especially vintage ones may be of interest of have because then others would read them- like if their parents read this book, they might borrow the book for their kids. Now the books ending up going to a goodwill instead. At least i tried!
