This place has everything you could need. Canoes, kayaks, tubes you name it. Everyone was very helpful. Brandon helped us get in the water and answered all our questions as well as handled the heavy lifting when he picked us up. The route was gorgeous. We saw two bald Eagles and were constantly surrounded by the green of the great north woods. Probably the most efficient canoe rental I ever went to. Love the name too! read more

We spent a day tubing on the river--and enjoyed great equipment from HNO! We had a great time on the River. We saw a snapping turtle and a river otter. The water felt great. Traveling with friends, we decided to go tubing. The day was hot and the town was crowded with vacationers. When we found Hawks Nest with beautiful flowers and picnic tables and a super nice staff (thank you Scott, Madeleine, David, Mitch & Brandon!) we were sold! The river was gentle and the tubes were brand new! They have a nice gift shop with snacks, drinks, and organic frozen treats There's a map of the route painted in the floor and a great selection of t-shirts, water shoes and hats that we all purchased. They also have a nice clean bathroom and changing rooms you can use before getting back in the car. We HIGHLY recommend this for young and older! read more

Hawks Nest is the place to go for tubing and kayak rentals. They just upgraded their tubes and all have headrests - a game-changer! And you can choose between a tube with a bottom, no bottom, or a mesh bottom. Super friendly and helpful staff and we watched them disinfect tubes between rides. The tube ride is a great float down the river, especially with a cooler tube tied in the middle of the group. The highlight of our weekend! read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. I have called eagle river my getaway for years and in the past the hospitality of the Northwoods was alive and well at this place. However I had visited the hawks nest last weekend with my family including my 8 year old nephew and 5 year old niece. We had stopped to go to the bathroom before doing a river trip. The building was smelly and gross! We also had our own boats so they charged us $30 to put in they had told us the pick up would cost extra. This place is a total rip off! If you need a place to launch for free go to the dam up river and get out at big rock landing. If you need to rent go elsewhere the equipment at hawks nest is beat up and old! I strongly suggest using a rental place closer to town. read more
