And it has plenty of handicap spaces which is very nice. Walking into the open air pavilion, is a real treat. What a great space! This would be a great place for outside dining, or having a band play out there and dancing, if you didn't want to be cooped up inside. Definitely tons of possibilities at this venue! Inside, there is a bar on one end and a stage on the other with a huge open area. This would be perfect for a wedding or something that's held inside, if you did not want to brave the elements outside. Company on site, and can pretty much do anything you need. And that's not all, there is an upstairs area that is perfect for an overflow room, or a VIP lounge, or just a place for say a wedding party to take a break, or anything you really want to do with it. It even has a nice little outside courtyard that you can sit and get some fresh air. I could almost write a book about how awesome this place is but suffice to say if you live in Orange county and are looking for a premier venue to have your event at, I don't think you could do any better than the colony House. I have so much praise for the venue, owner Rose, our incredible coordinator Jamie, and the entire staff. Here are the highlights: 1) They take care of SO many wedding details. This was huge for me because I wanted to minimize wedding-planning stress. Our package included the ceremony and reception spaces, lounge area, open bar with signature drinks, catering, DJ, florals for the space, photobooth, table settings/decorations, donut wall, and more. We really only had to arrange an officiant, photographer, cake, donuts, and our personal florals--and they even had recommendations for all of those. It made planning so much easier! 2) They're dog-friendly! Our pup Benji was able to be part of our ceremony, which was incredibly special to us. Dogs can't stay for the reception, but we hired a sitter who took care of Benji before and during the ceremony and brought him home afterward. I was so grateful that he could be included in such an important part of our day. 3) The pricing is very reasonable. We felt the pricing was straightforward and appreciated how flexible they were about helping us stay within our budget. Booking on a Friday evening or Sunday morning, for example, can be more affordable than a Saturday. I really felt like Rose was on our side and wanted to help us make it work. 4) The staff are wonderful. Rose was warm and welcoming from our very first tour, and the whole staff was incredibly kind and genuinely excited for us. And Jamie, our day-of coordinator, was AMAZING. She was attentive, organized, thoughtful, and somehow always seemed to know what I needed before I even asked. She handled all the little details that made the day run seamlessly, and both our family and bridal party were so impressed with her. She was truly a treasure! 5) Our guests loved it. Our family and friends raved about how smoothly everything ran, the food, open bar, DJ, photobooth, and the overall look and feel of the venue. They also appreciated the ample parking and were surprised by how beautiful the ceremony and reception spaces were inside. Interestingly, we had already attended two weddings at The Vintage Rose before having our own there, so we knew they knew what they were doing--and they absolutely delivered! Our guests absolutely loved how unique the space was. With a guest count of 200, we felt that the reception hall was perfectly fitted; not too big and not too cramped either. 200 was too big to fit inside the ceremony hall, which was our one and only complaint. But, guests who sat outside mostly said their view was okay/clear. *Lily was a superstar. She truly took care of us and was on top of everything. Numerous guests noted that this was the most organized and well-running wedding they had ever been to, which was all due to Lily running the show. I would recommend having Lily as your coordinator 1000x over. *Bang for your buck. This was the first venue we toured, and after hearing the price and what was included there was absolutely question in our mind to book it. I was getting the same quote for ~80-100 guests that I did for 200 here. It was priceless being able to include as many guests while not having to compromise on other factors because they were all included in our package. We also LOVED the grooms suite. So many times the groom is left in the dust but this space was perfect and the guys really enjoyed it. The entire team, Rose and her son, our waitstaff, DJ Larry, and Lily were truly amazing to work with. We would choose the vintage rose for any of our future events!

Although…read moreHeather communicated very well, there were a couple of incidents that I found slightly unprofessional: 1. I signed a contract with one of her staff as my wedding planner. Unfortunately, from my understanding, there were unexpected changes in the company, so Heather had to take over. However, Heather responded that she would make an exception for me and not charge me an additional $1000 for this change. With all due respect, I should not be financially penalized for changes that an owner experiences; especially since I already signed the contract that I financially agreed to. 2. I encountered a lot of life changes that disrupted my ability to move forward with a wedding that my brothers were supposed to be in. For instance, I had a depressed, suicidal brother, I had another brother leave for Japan for the Marines, and I had an uncle pass away. All vendors except for Heather were so kind to fully refund my deposits due to the situation. Unfortunately, Heather responded that she was still a businesswoman and was financially hurting, so she was in no place to offer a full refund. I basically paid Heather almost $500 to establish a simple contract. I already had all the vendors in place and organized, so this deposit was for nothing. Heather should not be held responsible for unexpected circumstances, but this wedding meant a lot to me. As a business owner, you should be able to compromise with your clients based on their situation. I could have easily used that deposit to help my family for the funeral. I find this situation absurd because I never wanted a wedding planner to begin with. Our wedding list was only 32 guests, but my fiancé insisted that we hire a planner because he did not want me to stress out. I admire him for caring, but this wedding was going to be a private and intimate event with very little management. I blame myself for hiring a wedding planner when I did not need one. It is unfortunate that Heather was thinking like a businesswoman and not a human being with empathy. Nonetheless, please make sure to ask about the refund policy for emergencies such as death, health, etc. Two stars are for her communication, but I can only evaluate Heather based on my experience with her before the wedding date. Therefore, I am unable to provide feedback for her day service since my wedding never happened. Has it ever occurred to you, Heather, that you had not heard from me in a year because I was busy dealing with other important things like planning a funeral? My wedding was the last thing on my mind. Also, I was not complaining about the charge that never happened, I am complaining about your response to your changes. There was no need to comment on that you are more expensive and won't be charging me. We could have proceeded forward with whatever it was we were doing. You contacted ONE venue and that is because they had YOU sign a contract with them. FYI, my pre-engagement photos were scheduled with the photographer I hired for my wedding and I was still refunded the full amount. This vendor did not work for free either and still managed to prioritize customer service over money. You are a business owner and have the liberty to do as you please, but you must have needed the money more than I did, so I hope my contributions helped your business. Nonetheless, well done on your communication. If you have a family member with a life-threatening illness or you have a medical condition that may require potential hospitalization, please do not hire Heather as your wedding planner as she will not refund you the deposit because not make exceptions for your situation simply because she does not "work for free." As far as hiccups on the day of, there were far and few between. The major hiccup happened about 5 minutes before the ceremony when a urinal exploded on me- but hey, Katie had a cleaning kit to make sure I didn't smell for the rest of our big day and her team helped me keep my cool. Overall, we were expecting a little bit more drama but everything went by so smooth. Katie stepped in to make sure we ate our food despite being moved left and right and she kept us on schedule which to everyone's amazement, we were right on the dot with it. To summarize, what Katie did best was eliminate any worries we would have the day of so we could simply soak in all of the greatness of that day. Katie was super helpful being the first line of contact between us and the vendors. We didn't have to scramble at the last minute to confirm arrival times, to collect paperwork, etc. She continued to reassure us toward the final days of the wedding to sit back and relax. She was available throughout the process and kept us on track to meet certain milestones (e.g. finalizing guest count, confirming timeline, ensuring all inventory was ready to go, etc.).
