This is a sign of a manager always willing to go the extra mile. Further, the main auditorium is spectacular, one of a kind, and is frequently recognized as one of the most beautiful showpieces in the country, with a flawless restoration under the direction of the general manager, but wit one twist, beautifully comfortable recliner seats that are easy to maintain, and hygein friendly. What a wonderful experience it has been to attend this lovely theatre that is a treasure of McHenry County. I often purchase tickets for children to see a lovely film for only 2.00 in the summer, and all reports are the same, clean theater, spotless and high quality concessions and an attentive and safe environment for people of all ages. The seats are the "fancy" seats from my childhood, the first rocking seats, not recliners, but not immobile. My son, 9, had never experienced this. We had a laugh over it, but actually, he remained in his seat more than he would in a recliner, less room to move. The tickets were affordable, $16 for both of us. Basic concessions: pop, popcorn and candy, but, drum roll please...they did have bottled beer, wine and seltzer. I didn't expect this from the concession stand. There is one cooler with plenty of choices; since we were in Wisconsin, I went with the Spotted Cow. We had a great time, and we walked from our hotel, making the old fashioned feel more authentic. The concession prices made up for the cheap seats. I paid $16.50 for a medium popcorn and 2 medium sodas. I only paid $10 for us to see the movie. The theatre was incredibly uncomfortable as if the heat were on. It was about 72 degrees outside and felt like 90 degrees inside watching the movie. I definitely would have paid more $$$$ for my ticket if it meant the theatre had air conditioning. I like the town of Antioch it's a cute town. I was even excited that this little theatre was showing Top Gun Maverick since it had recently came out. Next time I'll wear short sleeves with shorts not jeans if it's warm outside.

You can have as many people in the car as there are seatbelts but there were just two of us. Their snack bar is now just candy and a few drinks, including beer. So if you wanted hot dogs or anything like that, you won't get it here. However, they let you bring outside food and drink--probably why they charge more. We made a huge batch of homemade butter popcorn, brought our own waters, candy, and jerky. The car next to us had brought in pizza and Chipotle, which I'd do next time. There are restrooms on the site and they were very clean and plenty of stalls (at least for women). The one thing I did NOT like aside from the price is that you have to use a radio to listen to the movie. I have a 2019 Subaru and my car battery almost died after leaving it on without the engine running for both movies. A couple people had cars that needed a jump. So either bring a handheld radio or bring jumper cables. We would come back again because we like older movies but it would be nice if they had newer movie options too.
