My friends and I go every Tuesday for the discounted tickets and free popcorn/discounted hotdogs (lol) -- you literally can't beat it. The Vernon hills AMC is my home theater and my loyalty has changed, I go to Marcus now and have put my friends on. Also I've done my research and Marcus Corp. donates to local charities in their community (Milwaukee) AND as a company they haven't donated to any political campaigns or lobbying within the last 5 years (OpenSecrets.com). The company is almost too good to be true. And specifically I have never had any problems at this location. I always have good interactions with everyone. Not happy with Pepsi products, but we make it work. Popcorn was delicious. The theater was clean and the seats are large and comfortable. When returning for a popcorn refill Charli assisted promptly so I didn't have to wait in the order line that was super long. I really appreciated that! Buy food, swords, play games, support the artists and vendors and performers, Etc. Until the prices hikes. The last 2-4 years, we only started going once a year. And what's wild, we were making more money? So how is it that we were having to spend less because of how expensive faire became? We were no longer spending extra because pricing on everything was so expensive. And not just a little expensive... the price jumps have become outlandish. It would be different if there were significant improvements or changes to the grounds, additional bathrooms, better water access or if the workers were getting paid more or new shows were being added. But none of these things have happened from what I've seen or heard. Even some of our favorite vendors left and haven't returned. I'm not sure if my family will be attending BRF this year or any year going forward. And that makes me so incredibly sad. It's always been such a big part of our lives. We started as teenagers that helped in the sand pits during gladiator battles before the joust, to being in our 30s introducing it to our babies, thinking we'd keep going to faire even after we were old and grey. Now faire feels overly commercialized and like the only thing worth caring about is money. I know how popular faire got. Especially after becoming viral on social media. So I understand the need to hike prices a little to compensate for supplies for the amount of people attending, inflation, etc. But what is happening is price gouging, and it's unbelievable. This is not the faire we've always known and loved. If things change we may come back. But until then we will be looking into other alternatives... please do better Bristol. You're losing your long term customer base...

The space is big and you never felt claustrophobic despite the fact the place was pretty packed. We appreciated the fact you are seated at a table (at least for this band. I no longer enjoy standing for hours on end at a long rock show!). The bar is reasonably priced - a Lagunita's IPA was $6 or so. They seem to run the venue pretty well - no goony bouncers or shady staff lurking around. Stop in for a show if a band you like is playing here! The Vixen is a great music venue with good sound!

I recently had knee surgery so opted to buy a VIP Table in the balcony so I didn't have to stand all night. I was glad I did because the band played for over 2 hours and there was also a DJ. The venue itself is dated and carpet and furniture upstairs smells musty, like an older bar. However, the view and sound from the balcony were pretty good, and we had our own little dance party upstairs. It is a walk downstairs to use the bathroom, but we appreciated that there was a bar serving drinks upstairs. During a few parts of the concert, it sounded almost like the song started off key, and we kept seeing the vocalist tap his ear, so not sure if there was an audio issue. There is parking nearby, if you arrive early enough to get a closer spot. The employees here were working hard to get everyone inside, despite the long line. Drink service in the balcony was fast. There is no separate entry for VIP. Just one long line and once you get inside are then brought to your ticket area. In all, I would say we waited outside for close to 30 minutes before we got inside for bag and ID check.

The presence of the house seemed intriguing. It had a welcoming presence it. A few months later, my mother was researching Underground Railroad sites in Illinois and we found out that the Mother Rudd House in Gurnee, Illinois was one of the sites. We decided to go to this historical site, which was amazing and full of history in the Lake County Illinois area. The Mother Rudd house was a place that housed travelers in the 19th century, was a place where community events were held, and was a safe haven for slaves who were seeking freedom. Mother Rudd was a mother of 13 children, yet still was able to care for others, including people in her community. The house was amazing with great artifacts and memories that go back two centuries. The hosts were friendly and gave a lot of information about what the Mother Rudd house was used for, and what the Gurnee community was like long ago.Several families donated artifacts from their family history to help one understand legacies of Lake County history. It was great to see others interested in history and restoring historical landmarks. I would encourage young and and old to visit this house and take a stroll down memory lane. It's best to call and schedule an appointment ahead of time.
