We have been camping at this KOA for 10+ years, and the decline the last couple of years has been disappointing. The mini golf stations haven't been maintained almost since they were built - the felt is peeling, everything is rusty and rotting, and it's honestly boring. It would be nice to have more fun obstacles on some of the stations. The picnic tables are rotting and falling apart, and whatever stain was on there is long gone or peeling, so they need some serious attention. It is disappointing that the prices are so high but the amenities are declining - they have either disappeared (the water slide, the arcade) or they are in need of repair and/or updating (picnic tables, mini golf, playground equipment). A lot of the playground equipment had literal tape on it to "fix" it, instead of replacements. We still love the staff and atmosphere, but it becomes harder each year to justify the cost when we could pay the same, or slightly more, to stay at a place like Stoney Creek. read more

2.5 stars really. We have been coming up here for years, missing last year... but under new ownership this place is really falling apart. The slide has been broken for years, the pool is murky, the putt putt golf is not maintained, the general maintenance of the property has fallen way off, the cabins aren't clean, tubing down the river is only scheduled for weekends, the arcade is now beer storage, the store's hours are reduced, I mean the list goes on and on, oh and no flowers in the gardens, no turtle I. We were met by a sasquatch on our way in, which was cute... a sign thst said amenities are open to the public and roughly 7643467 children running in the road. On seeing just how crammed full of people the park is & the incredibly cramped spots - (you better like your neighbor) - I suggested we ask for a refund and keep driving. It's now just after 10pm on night 1 of our 2 night stay. Normally, we would be at our campfire - either roasting marshmallows or just decompressing silently whilst gazing at the fire. Why not now you ask? An excellent question... Our pull through spot is beyond tight. The camper is wedged in between the neighbor's fire ring/table & the fenced path to cross to the restrooms/showers - which are conveniently located directly in front of our self-contained camper... hmm. If we light a fire, we'll either have the ring in the road, against the camper or against the fence - thus, no outdoor fire for us on this stop. We decided to make it an indoor event & lit the living room fireplace. We settled in for some wine & relaxation. Instead we're listening to the parade of people on the path right by our (closed) doors, at least 3 dogs barking non-stop, 2 different sets of music blaring & a hammering that I'd guess is tent stakes or someone setting up horse shoes- tho I can't imagine where they'd be putting either, as I didn't see any empty ground space. [EDIT: Quiet hours start at 11pm, it's now 1040pm & dead quiet... we may be ok] I'm going to hope things improve from here - but the early impression is that this place is a lil too lord of the flies for us. I'm sure it's great for someone with kids needing to burn off a lot of energy, & the kids do look much happier here than they have at other parks. I'll give them that. If my opinion changes, I'll update. Thankfully, we did remember to bring the noise machine. read more

Bathrooms horrible, no grass and dusty, electrical outlet upside down (which, if you have a surge protector, is truly unmanageable- almost had to go without power, shows how little the staff know about camping), food not good. Water slide broken. Too many kiddos without parents, too many pets. KOA: get the basics right and the rest will follow. Get knowledgeable staff at front desk, and clean. read more

Depends what your looking for but for us the cons outweigh the pros. Background- we had a 1 1/2 year old with us Pros -The two playgrounds are great for young kids. -Small takeout restaurant on site with breakfast, lunch/dinner options -nice pool area that goes up to 9 feet -check in was fast -lodge was clean -friendly staff -free showers but bring shower shoes Cons -The campsites are only 5-10 feet apart with branch-less trees. This was a HUGE con for us -pool is to deep for small kids - they deliver wood but it costs an arm and a leg -there are other amenities however you have to pay for them so only the mini gulf and pool come with the cost read more

This is not wilderness camping by a long shot, but my kids (ages 6 and 11) LOVED all the activities, some of which cost extra and some of which did not. My wife and I appreciated the take-out restaurant on site. The grounds were well tended and the staff, on whole, was good. PS: We stayed in the teepee and it smelled fine. read more

Great location and nice campsites. This is a very noisy, busy campground that is great for families, but not necessarily for those seeking solitude amongst the pines. The tubing isn't for the faint of heart on a narrow, shallow river with lots of brush and obstacles. My only complaint is that the cost per night wasn't inexpensive, yet most amenities could only be used for a fee (water slide, bounce pillow). read more

Tried this KOA for the first time this year in June. The weather was fantastic for camping! This KOA has to be one of the busiest we have seen for temporary campers in a long time. The layout of the sites were very regimented and there was a community "Kamp Kitchen" interspersed every few rows, that had sinks and stoves. The pool was lovely, and the Red Pine Restaurant (think lunch trailer) did serve up a nice breakfast. The staff was very friendly as well. There were a lot of noisy kids, but, quiet hours were strictly observed - so it was easy to forgive the noise. The only drawback we found with this KOA was that because of its location and popularity with the locals, the waterslide, mini golf and jumping pillow were available for a fee, whereas other KOAs don't have that. We will stay at this KOA again in the future (maybe after school is back in session). read more

This is my one and only experience camping in or at a KOA, so keep that in mind as you ready my review. Growing up my family camped, but at nothing so swank. :) We camped over labor day weekend. We made our reservation about three weeks out. There were some, but not a lot of choices left at that point. What I like about the camp is that it is a cornucopia of fun for children, and as I've said in another review...if the children are happy... Here were the highlights: Bouncy pad Gift Store that sold Zots Playground Dances Outdoor Movies Pool Waterslides...you could almost mistake your location for the Dells. But, not to worry, parents, there is something for you too... Breakfast wagon for the mornings you don't feel like cooking happy children great shopping in downtown Hayward happy children wine tasting in Hayward AND...happy children... We spent a full week here and for the most part we loved our experience. We arrived on Monday, and had our deluxe tent pad site in peace and quiet. We did have a bit of a problem with our deluxe pad, however, our tent was too big for a site that is boarded. We talked to the office and they were so helpful and friendly. They checked for sites we could move to and told us the ones we could look at to choose from. In the end, we stayed after talking to another camper who had his tent set up with the same problem. Set up right, we only had the edges of the tent to worry about and in the end, we were glad we stayed at our site. Monday thru Wednesday was a vacationers dream, we enjoyed the heated pool, the waterslide, the wagon rides, fossil and gem mining and the awesome tube ride. The campground is so well maintained and groomed. Employees are always riding around picking up litter and they are up before most campers making sure the area looks pristine and clean. Wood and food, when ordered, is delievered to your site. An amazing feature I love about this campground. The weekends however are another world entirely. The campground fills up, every slot, it's amazing. Our nice peaceful week ended on Thursday when the inconsiderate redneck family arrived. They were loud, he drank beer all day from sun up till sun down and had a radio he kept cranked with no consideration for others. Thankfully he would take it around with him so while rude we only had to put up with it a few hours a day. I could have said something and I am sure they would have done something about it but it is a vacation place and rocking the boat was not a part of my peaceful vacation plans. They have so much to do here during the week and on the weekends they add so many more activities. Yes, you do have to pay extra for the jumping pillow, water slide, bikes, and tubing but it was still so much fun. It would be better if they included the waterslide and jumping pillow in your rentals. I can see charging the locals who come in but not the campers we do spend a lot there already. The shop is beautifully stocked and reasonably priced. All facilities are very clean and well maintained. The staff are amazing, friendly and accommodating. We had lots of questions during our stay and did lots of gift shop shopping and never once came across an employee in a bad mood or one that was rude. Even when they were off the clock they were always smiling and helpful. Be sure to take the tube ride, it's worth it. Be prepared for a wait when you get out of the river, it can be brief or take a while so be patient, after all drop off and pick up are a service they offer free. The owners care a lot about their guests and are great to talk to. We will go back again and I suggest you give it a try as well. read more

Whew! When you pull in, the view is a huge water slide and pool, brimming with lots & lots & lots of people! The office staff was hilarious & good natured, though! As we pulled to our site (34' 5th wheel) the path was so narrow, sites were so tight and there were so many people, the trucks on the end had to move so we could get to our site (this was foreshadowing of what was to come). Everything was clean, beautiful potted flowers throughout-but there are 226 sites and all were full, so the noise & congestion was stunning. We camp a lot and most times at KOA, but never have we ever been at one that was so tight (& never, ever will we stay here again)!!! Others have commented that it's great for having happy kids; that's probably true if the kids are accustomed to being incredibly overstimulated. Getting out of our site, a fiasco bc, again, too tight. The poor guy next to us took just shy of an hour, with 3 spotters, to get out bc the sites are TOO TIGHT! Sites in front and behind had to move vehicles and he still had to back out (of a pull-thru site). We, too, had to ask the site across from us to move a vehicle so we could maneuver out, and my husband is extremely good at maneuvering a rig! The next door neighbor reported to us that the previous occupants of our site had a campfire his first night here, so he had to park his truck at the visitor center bc it was so close to his truck it would have set it on fire. Speaking of fires, if there was one, it would be a catastrophic loss of property bc there's no way everyone could drive out of here. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is not it! Reminds me of a city where everyone and their dogs are outside, sitting on the stoops, cooking, drinking, playing, riding bikes, hanging from the windows, screaming, talking, barking (only the dogs) and just generally having some fun. Definitely not a bad thing, just not our thing. We couldn't even hear the "happy children"-I do love the sound of their delighted laughter-for the dogs barking and neighbors partying, well into the night. BTW I've never written a review more than a couple, positive, sentences. This was an experience for the books and has set a new bar, a very low bar. This wb a nice campground if there were more space (for the 226 sites), RV sites were angled better and the aisles were just a little wider, like double wide. read more

Things They Need to Improve On 1. They need to improve their bike renting system because people sign up for a certain amount of time but do not return their bikes even when their time is up, resulting in the employees having to look for the missing bikes and other people not being able to rent the bikes. Instead, they should have alarms on the bikes to alert people when their time is up and trackers for the employees to easily find them if they aren't returned on time. 2. Needing separate wristbands for various activities. For example, the water slide, the pool, and the bounce pad each have a different wristband. They should also have a wristband that covers everything for those who want to do all of the activities. 3. They are not organized when it comes to planning events. They should have signs for when they are closing down areas so people know ahead of time. For example, putting a sign up stating that the volleyball court is closed due to a movie night in the field. Additionally, they should also announce when events are happening to inform people what's happening at that moment. 4. For a family friendly campsite, the employees are not very friendly. From my experience, the employees seem to hate their job and would often procrastinate instead of doing what they're supposed to. For example, talking to their colleagues about whatever even when it's busy and customers are waiting for their order to be taken. Side Note - This place has activities geared towards children and not teens and older. - In my experience, I didn't see many minorities at this camp. - The campsite has a six person limit per camping slot, but in my opinion, there should be some flexibility for this rule. What if there was a family of 7, two parents and 5 kids, what would happen in this case? - They might be understaffed read more

Playground and pool nice, entire park is very well landscaped. Mini golf typical for a campground, nice dog park. Waterslide was fun and a really great value with day pass. Only complaint is how tiny the sites are- narrowest site I have ever camped on with not a blade of grass. read more

This campground has many amenities but is very overcrowded. The sites are packed together and hard to maneuver in and out of. There quite time rules are enforced harshly and by profiling. Our group being middle aged 30-42 and having a good time, had one of the workers come over and tell us the quiet time rules at 10:30 when it isn't enforced until 11:00. He then drove around in his golf cart with no lights on it spying on us and came back at 11:15 and yelled at us saying we were being kicked out and the owner would be over in the morning. We had 4 sites next to each other and had a campfire in the middle ones. Needless to say after there arrogance and profiling of people I wont be back as well the other 14 people staying with us. read more

Updated after my second stay this year. Mixed bag in this review. The good: lots of family activities: hay ride, smores, face painting, playground, mini-golf, bounce pad, arcade, volleyball, etc. lots to do. Friendly staff, nice campsites, close to lots of off-site activities as well. The not so good: we were coming here for a weekend in the 90s, the main attraction being the pool and waterslide. Apparently the waterslide isn't open for the year yet because its bone dry and empty. But the heated pool was also closed. Some maintenance issues, which I understand arise from time to time, but it sure took the luster off the weekend for my kids who wanted to do nothing but swim. Second weekend the waterslide is still out of commission (its been in the 80s and 90s for weeks, cmon guys!). The wifi here has a great signal campground wide, but it must either be dial up or very slow dsl, because the connection isn't speedy at all. Most of the time you'll get connected and it shows strong signal, but nothing works. Pages won't load, downloads timeout, etc. Trying to watch videos is an exercise in futility and frustration. If you plan to spend any time using wifi, make sure you bring lots of mobile data with you, or a lot of patience. Second weekend the wifi is even worse. Get connected about 50% of the time, and when connected nothing works st all. Many pages won't load at all unless they're text only and many of those timeout too. Used LTE chewing up my data. Overall a nice place, and there's a lot of fun family stuff to do here. Hopefully everything works next time. Weekend 2 was better. Still no waterslide, and no wifi, but the rest of the activities were a blast. read more

We stayed in a pull through 30amp site. It was a decent size. Easyish to get in to. This is NOT wilderness camping at all. You are VERY close to your neighbors. Cars were always parked in the road blocking it or kids were playing games in the lane that could have easily damaged cars or campers alike. Expect kids and adults to ignore camping rules and walk right through your campsite. We ended up having to put up baby gates to prevent campers from walking though our "kitchen" and "dining room". The employees were pleasant and friendly but couldn't/wouldn't do anything about the walk throughs. Also didn't seem to monitor the jumping pillow very well as many of the kids were breaking the rules and/or didn't pay to use. My kids did love all the activities and the play ground. We enjoyed the onsite food and ice cream. The pool was okay but it's not good for really little kids as it's kind of cold and has no wading area. Bathrooms and laundry area was very clean and easy to use. Loved the water pressure and the individual shower rooms with actual doors. WiFi wasn't working but the staff kept everyone informed as to why. Overall not to bad and will probably go back as the area is nice and puts on a really good fireworks show. read more

We travel to lots of different camping areas and this is by far the worst. We went on a busy time so we assumed it would be busy. They started by booking us into the wrong campsite and we ended up with no hookup which is fine because we have a tent...We were put in a little grass area in front of a cabin. The people stayed offered to let us use their outlet since they weren't. The first complaint is that everything there is an additional charge. The pool, jump pad, water slide, even the handmade mini putt. In any case, out spot smelt of sewage every time someone flushed in the cabin. Went up and mentioned this to the front desk. They came up and were unable to fix it. Instead they unplugged our plug in and told us if we wanted that we would have to get charged. The smell was never fixed and after they told my kids to "not plug things in" I told them that we would be leaving. Which instead of saying anything the only thing they replied with was "The owner isn't going to refund you, if that is what you are thinking." I didn't even ask for a refund, so the answer was rude. Worst campsite ever. Stay in a motel or go to Sisko's...I wouldn't go back to this place if you paid me. read more

Stayed in a teepee. They look really cool. Ours smelled as if something had died in it. The rain leaks through it, so don't stay in one if its raining. Used the ATM which didn't work, and it held my $205.00 hostage until the next day when it resets. Owner was friendly enough but I could have done without hearing his political views. Horrible New Ownership!!! After nearly ten years of good memories this year that all changed! Witnessed staff yelling at kids on two different occasions once at the pool because the kid was splashing water. The other was a kid on his bike because the bike had a card in the spokes which was apparently to loud? at 1 in the afternoon. The new owner, and staff could use some training on how to deal with the patrons! We will not be back!!!! To bad, used to be a great place before the change. First time I can remember seeing empty spots at the campground my guess that is a sign of things to come!!! read more

I have been going to this KOA for years, however this was our first time since the new owners took over. The staff was unfriendly, prices have gone way up, they closed the park and pool before the time they were supposed to, and the bathrooms were dirty. I also witnessed the new owner lock young children between the ages of 5-11 in the arcade and yell at them for supposedly steeling money from one of the game machines. I stood up for these kids and told the owner that he was scaring them and being inappropriate and that they did not steal anything. He then forced me and my family to pack up all our stuff and leave the KOA at 9pm just for standing up for innocent children, all while we were being stared at by a worker while we packed outside our cabin. I was also verbally harassed by one of the staff members because he didn't think that I should have stuck up for the young children that they were screaming at. I have never had such a horrible experience at a place that is supposed to be family friendly. I would encourage everyone not to stay at this place, especially families with young children, seeing as they may be mistreated by the owner just like the children were when I was there. read more
