You couldn't even sit in it for fear of what you may be sitting on. The outside of the camper was just as disgusting. I guess it never occurred to the campground owners to power wash it. I spent at least two hours cleaning and disinfecting the camper that we were told was new. Lies. If I was on this trip alone, I would have left immediately. Reluctantly I paid my bill - almost $200 a night! I still feel like disputing with my charge card company because we were lied to and taken advantage of. Not sure how they live with themselves renting this camper to people. When I went to the office to complain, they had the nerve to tell me it was cleaned. I am not an idiot.

The camp map needs a lot to be desired since the sited are placed among the trees. We stayed three nights and should have stayed longer. Boulder Junction 10 miles away and Walmart 17 miles away. Very very quiet at night. Highly recommend.

(They only have 30Amp service) lots of shade trees and a couple of ponds, some walking trails head out into the woods. A lower level abuts the Black River. It has no pool or swing sets. Some working folks are in long term spots. I never even went to their central bathrooms. We are self contained. Spots are level and lots of grass. All in all, it's a good stop along Rt2, and had everything we needed.

Located in the Northwoods of northern Wisconsin, the park's highlight is the Doughboy Trail, a well-developed two-mile loop that offers excellent views of both Copper Falls and Brownstone Falls. The trail is easy to follow, well-maintained, and includes several scenic overlooks. Because of its distance--several hours from cities like Madison--I recommend combining a visit with other Northwoods attractions. A great option is to stop here while exploring the Apostle Islands or the Bayfield area. Once inside the park, follow the main road past the ranger station until it ends at the parking lot, where you'll find restrooms and the Doughboy Trailhead. This is a beautiful park and well worth the stop, especially if you plan it alongside other northern Wisconsin adventures.

We were able to park easily and walk a short, fairly easy loop to reach the falls. The view of the waterfall was beautiful, though the trail itself isn't very shaded. Thankfully, the weather was mild during our visit, which made for a pleasant stop. Parking was plentiful, and the park overall felt accessible and well maintained. A worthwhile stop for an hour or so if you're exploring northern Wisconsin.

(Parks and Recreation also manages another campground, Kreher, for larger RVs. Kreher has 33 sites). Prentice Park is a first come, first served campground. No reservations are taken. There were many sites still available when we arrived on a Wednesday evening around 6 pm in late May. Tent sites are $20/night ($125/week), while electric sites are $35/night. There was a host on-site, and we were able to pay her directly. This is a nice, and well-maintained campground. Sites were flat and clear, with a picnic table and fire ring. We had some privacy because there were small trees between our site and the adjacent one. (Some sites were less private). Firewood was available. There are flush toilets and secure showers. (The showers are for campers only, and require a passcode. The bathroom is open to the public during the day but is locked at night (usable with passcode). The campground felt safe, given the host on site but also with occasional patrols by the local police. The campground is adjacent to Prentice Park, which has a pavilion, playground, another bathroom, 2 miles of hiking trails, and access to the Ashland Rails to Trails. There is also an artesian well on site for fresh water. There were a few small negatives. We were tent camping and, despite being a few miles from Rte. 2, we could hear some truck traffic from that road. The campground is inland, so there's no view of Lake Superior. (Kreher Campground has lakefront sites). Finally, like everywhere else in the great outdoors in northern Wisconsin in late May, there were some mosquitoes but they weren't overwhelming.

There are 6 RV sites and tent sites. It is a first come first serve campground. Sites have water and 50 amp power. Site 5 is a pull thru, paved and level. The camp host was right there providing the shower code. There are deer, bunnies, an owl and lots of birds. Fire pits at each site and firewood is available for purchase. Wonderful bike/walking trails here as well. Just delightful!

Staff is friendly…read more They have done a wonderful job with the bathrooms and grounds, specifically the new side of the park. Some RV spots on that side of camp have peekaboo views of Lake Superior. The office has an ice cream shop, swag and a few supplies. We stayed on the older side of the park and it could use some TLC. The RV pads are in bad shape. Took two tries to auto level the camper because I could not get the front of the camper low enough. The pad was narrow and peaked, I had to dig into the side of the pad to get our landing gear on a flat surface. We were at the lowest site on that side of the park, so there was significant wash out before this week's heavy rain. The washout made the site uneven and there was no place to set a chair or the provided picnic table on a flat location to sit, lounge or eat. We really appreciated the park reaching out about heavy rains and their effect on the park that week. Tree trimming is a must. I know privacy can be important, but a balance between over growth and tidiness needs to be found. We couldn't use our awning properly to cook in the rain. There are trees with many dead heads that needed to be addressed. No one wants a damaged roof or camper when branches fall. All in all this was a nice place to stay and if we're in the area we would stay here again.

We came here on the ferry from Bayfield (super easy, but recommend having your car on the ferry if…read moreyou plan to head out here) and had a great time hiking. I was a little confused on where I was supposed to park for the trails, but there's essentially one road so you just kinda figure it out as you go (I went the wrong way the first time, maybe a 2 minute detour). We parked near the beach access area, and started off on the trails. We took the Woods Trail to the Point Trail to the Bayview Trail -- and it brings you right back to the same place. I recommend doing it in this order (which I think is counter-clockwise?) versus the reverse. While the Woods Trail is in a lovely, lush green woods, after seeing the rocks and lake sites along the other trails, the Woods Trail would be a very boring way to end. Starting with the Woods Trail, it's only better as you go along. I hiked with my senior large dog, and he did just fine on the paths. Pretty clear markings and nothing super treacherous if you don't venture out on to the rock formations. Dogs are not allowed on the beach or boardwalk (big sad face), so we went back to town after the hike. Along our way, we saw a small black bear crossing the road! Quite an adventure. Depending on date and time, might be limited food options on the island, so have a plan and check out your options ahead of time.
