I see a few reviews that only mention an office staff member not doing something with regards to…read moreprescriptions and I wanted to mention that prescriptions are refilled in several ways: You contact the pharmacist for a refill, you log onto the patient portal and submit a refill request, or you ask Dr. Smith to submit the refill while you are there in the office. I never had any issues with any of these three methods. I've been with Dr. Smith for twenty years, as has my daughter. She's always done the right thing, with thoughtful consideration of requests, a thorough knowledge of everyday healthcare issues and a concerted effort to learn more about healthcare issues that are less common. This has led to spot-on referrals to specialists as necessary. I could not begin to say enough about how delightful and wonderful Dr. Victoria Smith is as a doctor and much of her staff is pretty good as well. She does have healthcare students do their internships with her on occasion - so far, they've all been nice. As for the office staff - I, personally, have never had any issues with them. I have heard from my daughter that she doesn't always get the questions answered that she asks when she calls, but when I have her send the questions through the portal - she does get the results she wants. I'm not sure the turnover of secretaries there, so it may be the person who answered the phone when the review here was left (or when my daughter called) is not the same person anymore. I do know that judging Dr. Victoria Smith's practice based on one experience with a secretary is not a reflection of the overall experience I've had there for two decades. Also, any doctor won't know your experience with the secretary if you don't tell them. I know her well enough to know she'd have totally straightened out any situation that would impact the healthcare of her patients. She's got a huge heart.

I've never had any issues with Dr. Smith's office. When my family and I first moved to Tallahassee…read morefrom South Florida it was important for me to find an office that would help him manage my husband's diabetes and neuropathy pain. I wanted an office that would refill all of his medications including his gabapentin without having to send him to a specialist every 3 months for pain management medication. Her office has been extremely helpful and accommodating with helping his condition.

If you have a real, serious and/or chronic medical issue, this is NOT the place to go. . Put on…read moreyour note to self the long wait and you are wasting your time if you are truly in need of healthcare. I have suffered from severe osteoarthritis for about 20 years. Ten years ago, I was discovered to have no cartilage in either knee and have had to use mobility assistance ever since. When I was 52, the orthopedic specialist advised me that knee surgery was in my future. I have been waiting to afford the operation, so in the meantime, I require some pain medication to manage the extremely painful problem. My doctor of almost 30 years in Ohio was giving me Percocet. I understand if a doctor does not wish to prescribe such a heavily controlled medication, so I asked for Tramadol, which no one, not even nurse practitioners, have hesitated to offer. But Dr Joy? NO! She does not manage anything like that, so she suggested that I go to a pain specialist. I repeatedly asked for something to take until I could have an appointment with one and she refused. I suffered greatly, but she didn't care one bit. I stayed in bed for almost three weeks, crying, it was so bad. Finally, I found someone through my health insurance portal and the difference is like day and night. How nice it is to have a doctor to sit down and talk to the patient like a human being. It is possible to employ a family physician who includes you as a partner in your own health management. If you ever come across Dr Joy Ablordeppy as a potential primary care doctor, RUN, don't walk, to almost anyplace else. I know veterinarians who are more capable than she.

The doctor here is great to be honest. However her staff (aka her son(s)) doesn't know how to…read moreschedule appointments for her patients. So, you can have a 2 o'clock appointment but so will 2 other people. Which means you are guaranteed to be sitting in her office for 2 to 3 hours before even being called to the back. Why? Well also because while you arrived at 1:50 for your appointment, there are four other people in the waiting area with appointment times of 12:30 and 1:00. That's absolutely ridiculous. Yet and still people question why it's so hard for blacks to support other black owned businesses. This here is a prime example as to why. Oh and might I add that the customer service is horrible. No one even acknowledges your presence when you walk in. Her son sits behind the desk with that little wind ow closed and says absolutely nothing to you. As a matter of fact no one speaks to you until they call your name to go to the back. So if this place could provide better customer service and if her son would stop over booking patients then it could receive 5 stars all day. Sad that the doctor is so good but because of these minor issues it makes her office seem like the worse place to go. Finding me a new PCP IMMEDIATELY!!! My 20 dollar co-pay will go someplace where I feel more welcomed! A place that acknowledges my presence. A place that at minimum will say, "Ms. Thomas, we are a little behind by the doctor will be with you shortly." Please RUN as fast as you can away from this office!!!
