As a marketing practitioner I have to admire the single-minded focus of Capital Health to their bottom line. As the preferred vendor of Aetna in Central Jersey, when one of their docs prescribes a test, their CRM system immediately springs into action calling you within 24 hours to lock in an appointment at one of their facilities. Naturally, if you have a question on coverage or billing, their alacrity at providing a timely answer on your schedule is far south of enthusiastic actually akin to pulling teeth. All to say that it pays to shop around at independent facilities as CH is ALWAYS the high cost provider and you are certainly not locked into their ecosystem unless you want to be. It's not that I like what they do but I still have to cede begrudging admiration for the transparency of their greed. Five stars. read more

Used to have a review here but Yelp moved everything to another CHP facility so I will say again that this location has multiple medical options including the CHP eye care facility. Of more importance is pointing out that CHP is not just highly ranked here but is highly ranked nationally as well. They incorporated as a non-profit and it has been my experience that the bean counters do not run things. We get excellent care at a reasonable cost and don't have to fight with them over the care we need. I come here for eye care. Check in is easy and I usually get called back for my exam promptly. I have always had good experiences here for my annual eye exam. I would get my glasses here as well if I didn't already have a long time relationship with Hatcher Opticians. read more

I would like to take a moment to recognize Dr. Kristi Reese and her wonderful staff. I called the office last week to inquire about the latest COVID shot, and the receptionist/front desk staff was very thoughtful, enthusiastic, and eager to help. She took the time to check on the information for me and came back with the details I needed. Her willingness to assist truly stood out. I am sharing this because that level of care reflects exactly who Dr. Reese is as a physician. She is thoughtful, kind, consistent, professional, and always willing to listen. No question ever feels silly or unimportant when you ask her. She takes the time to explain things clearly and makes sure her patients feel heard, respected, and cared for. Dr. Reese does not treat her patients like a number. Every time I visit her office, I feel important and valued. Her staff creates that same welcoming and caring atmosphere. From the front desk to the medical care provided, the office is professional, compassionate, and patient-centered. I truly appreciate Dr. Reese and her team for the excellent care they provide. Capital Health Plan, true story. A patient goes to TMH and is sent home with a prescription for home health. The doctor at Capital Health Plan needs to approve the referral from TMH. The patient never gets the home health and dies before the home health agency starts. The reason being, home health nurse was unable to get in touch with Capital Health Plan for a week since they have no answering service or doctor on call during the time frame in which Tallahassee received snow. Additionally the patient was very well read and rocket science like who was basically diagnosing "for his/her primary care physician" what he had, who simply placated the individual with conversation and DID NOT write the necessary referrals and said patient died of what he suspected he/she would die from. Additionally the patient's desperation led to him trying to get his/her dermatologist to advocate on his/her behalf. Essentially, if you want expedite a race to the grave see these IDIOTS about your health. read more

Dr. Shane Rignanese and his staff are heads above other providers I've used over the years. He never makes you feel like he doesn't have time for you and his nurses and staff are always friendly. He is busy so it's hard to get in sometimes but I would recommend him in a second. The only thing I can think of that is a little irritating is that you weigh out in the open area and they announce your weight so everyone hears it. I guess that's motivation to keep those pounds off!!! read more

Dear Dr. Amy Neal and Capital Health Plan (owned by Blue Cross and Blue Shield). Thank you for your polite letter denying my son further medical coverage for his rare disease. CHP customer service representatives have informed me that your board will not speak with patients privately. I wholeheartedly agree that this policy makes it much easier to withhold medical treatment when you don't have to look at the human faces of those who are paying multiple thousands of dollars for their health care coverage. The treatment you have denied, is the only one that has worked in his long, painful, hopeless struggle with his disease. In denying this procedure, you are denying him any quality of life, and any semblance of normalcy. This treatment had allowed him to begin to hope for his future, one that he previously felt helpless and hopeless about. Helpless and hopeless - trigger words I am sure you understand the meaning of. I have been further advised by my son's physician, who spoke with CHP's board directly, that the appeals department has further "denied future coverage and that this decision will not be reversed" - truly inspiring words during this season of giving.
