Yet again, upon going to a different provider, in San Antonio, all of my concerns were addressed and successfully treated. I do not recommend Peterson Medical Associates or Peterson Health Hospital, unless it's your only option due to travel restrictions.

We called two ERs beforehand--this one was immediately kind, reassuring, and let us know there was no one else in the waiting room at the time. From the moment we arrived, the experience was excellent. Check-in was smooth, and we were taken back in under 10 minutes. The staff was incredibly kind, and within another 10 minutes, the nurse practitioner had already treated my son. X-rays were done quickly (impressive with a wiggly toddler), and results came back in about 30 minutes. By then, my son had fallen asleep, and the staff went out of their way to be quiet and accommodating--whispering, dimming the lights, and even letting us stay in the room so he could rest. When we were ready to leave, checkout was quick and friendly. Within two hours, my son was back to normal and running around. He was even able to be a ring bearer that evening with no issues! Hopefully you never need an ER, but if you do--especially with a child--I highly recommend this one.

I have gone into social work myself since, and had a lot of education on trauma care, and I can tell you this place isn't that. Not that I think you need an advanced degree to know. I've waited quite a while to write this review to make sure I wasn't just harboring something. I did have positive experiences with some people there, mostly a couple of techs that I still regard very highly and the opportunity to connect with other women was great. The clinical work here... so so bad, though. Basically, I watched every client with severe trauma symptoms here be re-traumatized pretty heavily. I was shamed in group settings in ways that I could tell perpetuated harm not just for me, but for other clients with similar experiences. I know a lot of clients I was with relapsed very soon after. I definitely put some of that down to the added shame that was piled on in this environment at a clinical level--woof. (To be fair, from what I have heard seems to be pretty much everywhere in substance treatment in Texas). As a survivor of narcissistic abuse several times over, which was all part of the trauma stories they have you share, I was then repeatedly accused of being a narcissist in group session by a particular therapist. My thinking is that most of this was because I did not act super compliant about the problematic stuff here--and meanwhile had a lot of very positive relationships with other clients. For myself, I was outright told my PTSD wasn't PTSD by my direct therapist. This has been my central diagnosis every other place I have had care. My genuine belief is that because they were so ill-equipped to address it, misdiagnosing me with god knows what was an attempt sidestep their incompetence amongst themselves. I haven't been back to treatment, I will give them that. But I put that down more to my insistence on following my own path that I knew honored my experience and sheer will to never have to be in a state where I could be treated this way again.

My dearest wife passed away July 24th 2025, shortly before her 89th birthday, due to Alzheimer's. During two years that she was a resident at Hilltop she received excellent care from the CNA's. Nurses and Doctors. They treated my wife like family. I can attest to the care that she was given. I spent 4 to 5 hours a day, six days a week for 2 years and not once during that time that did I observe anything other than professional care. When I'm older and senile, I am 95 now, I will become a resident of Hilltop Nursing Home.
