I hadn't been happy with them for awhile after over plucking when it was still cool to have those barely there lines for eyebrows. I had this one spot that didn't seem to grow back and I COULD ALWAYS SEE IT. Then my friend used Ash and I was intrigued. Not long after I made a consultation and ya'll, this girl is so great. She asked a bunch of questions to 1) get an idea of why exactly I was interested in powder brows 2) get an idea of what I was expecting to get and most importantly 3) ensure I would be safe, if there were any safety concerns, and walk me through the process. I don't have a tattoo, I had no idea about the potential reactions, and she walked me through the healing process and what to expect. During my appointment she was so calm and relaxed that she made ME relax. She talked me through what she was doing. She checked in on me throughout the process. I will say there were a few parts where my eyes were watering, but overall not a problem. Ash even walked me through the differences between cosmetic tattoos and a body tattoo. (No, tattoos aren't as easy) After my appointment I was ANNOYING. For the first week I think I messaged Ash every day asking questions about "is this normal?" or "does this look ok?". She was always extremely kind and patient. She answered all my questions and even encouraged me to ask more. Ash is truly the best. She made the entire process feel comfortable, she has the patience of an angel, and is truly one of the kindest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. The first salon I found wanted over $600 for just a style and gloss. The gasp I gusped. I walked out of Salon deZen for literally hundreds less than that, with a fast and fabulous cut from Mariah customized to my needs (after a very helpful consultation), along with a demi-permanent teal gloss on my previously highlighted hair, AND a truly gorgeous laminated brow and Korean lash lift from Caroline. Mariah gave me a hair style that requires minimal maintenance, but has tons of movement and versatility and a color that made me smile so hard it hurt. Caroline somehow made my DISTANTLY related eyebrows look like sisters instead of estranged second cousins. She also gave me a bottle of oil with a spoolie for lash and brow aftercare that made such a difference in the hair texture after processing. Together, they've streamlined my beauty routine and gave me such a lift for Spring! My shampoo and blow out was done by a really sweet and capable person whose name regrettably escapes me, but who had me leaving looking flyyyyy. I had actually booked a K18 treatment with Stephanie. I was looking forward to it as I heard many good things about this treatment. Stephanie looked at my hair for a few minutes and convinced me that it wasn't what my hair needed and all it needed was moisture. When I tried to ask her more questions about her reasoning she was visibly irritated, clearly in a rush. She handed me off to someone else to do the conditioning treatment and went to attend to another client. At that point it seemed clear she simply didn't want to perform the service herself. After my conditioning treatment, another stylist performed my blowout. My hair was greasy and I even commented as such but she told me that it was normal. By evening my hair was clumping and the next day it was a mess. It looked like I hadn't washed it in days. When I contacted the salon to see if they could schedule me to get it fixed, they had no availability, so I asked for a refund instead which they agreed to. Instead, what I got was a partial refund ($35) only for the conditioning treatment even though the blowout itself didn't last at all because of the treatment. The manager claimed that the "team" had discussed with me that "one treatment may not address the overall condition" of my hair and "other treatment options" had been discussed. This is not true. More importantly, the treatment left my hair worse. I had to wash it all out of my hair twice. What a waste!

Although I had an overall good experience there, when I went for my 18ish month touch up, the owner of that business seemed distracted, didn't really care to listen much and overall the whole service felt like a rushed, assembly line transaction. It's been 18 months since that last touch up, so I was due for one. My brows started to have that washed out look, but I just didn't feel compelled to go back to the original artist (although the color boost would have been much cheaper.)After following Good Brows on social media for a few years, I decided that Simone's work had a softer, more natural look that was much more aligned with my taste. So I inquired and she soon followed up to set up a consultative call after I sent a picture of my brows at present. My appointment was set up on that call, which was about 6 weeks away. I made a non-refundable deposit at that time and then received more pre-appointment instructions the week of my appointment. I must admit, there are a lot of details to read and pay attention to when it comes to policy - which is either a sign of a meticulous and detailed business owner, or potentially someone so particular that flexibility may not be at the forefont when it comes to collaboration. Luckily, all of these details are just so that Simone can maintain a high level of professionalism in running her business and ensuring that her clients receive the standard in care and artistry that they're paying for. On morning of the appointment, I gave myself plenty of time to ensure I wasn't late (there is a $150 rescheduling policy if you're more than 10 mins late.) She texted me right when I was arriving, which was a few minutes early to let me know I could come in if I was waiting, so we were able to start right on time. The studio space is warm and beautiful, adorned with gorgeous art (if you're lucky, she may tell you some stories about the pieces.) She then sat with me to talk about my concerns and interests. She's a good listener - genuine, intentional and collaborative in ensuring that what you like is what she delivers. When asking about how nano strokes might look over time, she was honest with me and level set expectations. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that kind of transparency -it's refreshing. She ended up cleaning up my brows, color correcting and adding a few strokes to the front and I tell you - I feel brand new (even fresh out of the chair, which we all know can feel a bit alarming before the color softens up in the healing process.) Additionally, it was evident through our conversation throughout that Simone is a beautiful human - inside and out. I enjoyed our chat and loved the result of her work. If you're in limbo, I suggest you go for it but have a good sense of what you're looking for. Bring examples of past work that you may like or try to go in with an understanding of the overall aesthetics of what appeals most to you. Simone is an expert, so the quality of the work speaks for itself.
