I had my eyebrows tinted with henna on June 21 after not having this service for several years due to not being local. Before the appointment, I mentioned that I have sensitive skin. Despite that, there was no discussion about whether the henna formula had changed since my previous visits, no explanation that the product contained PPD (a common allergen), and no offer to perform a patch test before applying the tint. Within hours of leaving the salon, my eyebrows became swollen, red, and intensely itchy. By the following day, I had developed clusters of blisters where the tint had been applied, and my skin was clearly having an allergic reaction. I spent Sunday treating the symptoms with Benadryl and Cortizone-10, and by Monday I had to seek care at urgent care, where I was diagnosed with allergic contact dermatitis and prescribed a stronger steroid cream. On Tuesday morning, I wrote an email requesting a refund and attaching a photo to which I have received no acknowledgment or reply. Unfortunately, the experience didn't end there. On Tuesday morning, I experienced an anxiety attack because of how severe the reaction had become. Later that afternoon, I developed a severe migraine, and over the following days I noticed eyebrow hairs beginning to fall out in the affected areas. The urgent care provider explained that my reaction was consistent with an allergy to PPD, a chemical commonly added to henna dyes to create a darker, longer-lasting color. While I understand that allergic reactions can happen and that salons are not medical professionals, PPD allergies are well documented. Given that I specifically mentioned having sensitive skin, I believe the salon should have informed me that the product contained PPD, discussed the risk of allergic reactions, asked about prior sensitivities, or at minimum offered a patch test before proceeding. I've had this same service at this salon in the past without incident, which makes the lack of any conversation about the product or potential risks even more disappointing. What should have been a routine cosmetic service resulted in weeks of pain, medication, medical treatment, significant stress, and temporary hair loss. I cannot recommend this service or salon based on my experience and the fact that I've received no reply to my email. Note that I am too upset over the event to call the salon again. I hope the salon takes additional precautions to better inform clients and help prevent someone else from going through what I did. While I previously supported this small business, I will never return. read more

It PAINS me to write this review because the girl who did my eyebrows was insanely sweet! But honestly, I'm super bummed with my brows. I went back to look at their ig and I have a hard time believing the girl who did my brows was the same on some of those posts the filling in was pretty bad- but no worries I said, I'll go home and wipe it off. And then when I wiped it off, the waxing was bad too. Just missing so many spots and so many hairs. I've uploaded three pics: one (the lighter pic) being from my regular eyebrow lady (unfortunately I don't live here anymore- just to see my eyebrow shape and the cleaning I wanted) and the other two are from after my appointment, one with the fill in from makeup and one without. She did map out my eyebrows and asked me if they looked fine, with the concealer put, I didn't realize it would result in a patch of hair that didn't blend with my brow so I said yes. I LOVED this place! I booked a brow wax and a tinting (which I had never done before) with Alanna and seriously I was blown away by how good my eyebrows looked. Because my eyebrow hairs grow in all kinds of different directions, I had a hard time finding a good eyebrow specialist until now. my eyebrows looked REALLY good and I was really happy with the results. Best part is that if you book multiple services they have a bunch of packages that will save money. The tinting wasn't too dark and I liked that they mapped out the eyebrow shape before shaping! I have had an appointment with Alana twice now and each time resulted in feeling great. She is a wonderful personality and is very willing to help you achieve the look you want. I had the henna brow sculpting done and mentioned to her that it seemed like the henna came off a lot faster than intended. She curiously asked about my routines and genuinely cared. She even went as far as offering a walk-in touch up should it happen again. She troubleshooted during our second visit and left the henna on longer to avoid the same result again. Its been five days, and so far its stayed on much better than last time. I love everything about this place -- from brow maintenance and tinting, to lash tinting, and facials. I stopped waxing years ago because I read how much better threading was... until I saw Ena's work. Now I don't trust anyone but them with my brows. My brows are getting fuller again and they always look perfectly groomed until my next visit. I need to say that I am pretty relieved (and that might sound silly) that there are other negative reviews about Ena's customer service. I was a loyal customer and I still am a big fan of her work, however I decided not to spend my money here anymore because of the treatment I got. After having a terrible customer service experience, I sent her an email explaining how I felt and how the situation could have been handled. SHE DIDN'T EVEN RESPOND. That tells me enough. Bad days happen to everyone and little mistakes can too, but she clearly isn't interested in making experience better for her custome ***I am adding the email I sent with the timeline because the business owner is not truthful. I was never 15 minutes late. I didn't want to go into details on Yelp because as I said, I respected her work, but I won't stay quiet when someone is lying.*** Ena, Let me first off start by saying that I really like your work; I will not give you a negative review on Yelp. However, you will be losing me as a customer based on how I was treated on 23 Feb. I would like to explain how things happened so you understand why I will no longer be using your services and so you can improve your customer experience for others. 1. My appointment was scheduled for 5:15. I had an appointment on 20 Feb but you cancelled due to weather and called to offer me 5:15 on Sat. (You are the one who picked date and time) 2. I received a call at 5:16 (literally 1 min after my appt) to ask if I was still coming. Calling 1 min after an appointment especially in this high traffic area is a bit ridiculous; 5 min after would be better. 3. I said that would be there in 2 min because I was just around the corner. 4. I arrived at 5:18 and was told that I needed to wait. 5. I was still waiting until 5:30 and asked how long it would be. I was told another 10 min or so. Starting my brows 30 min or so after my scheduled time was not acceptable because I had plans for the evening so I left. 6. It appears that you took someone else during my scheduled appt because I was 3 min late, not ok. 7. I was never told that you would be taking someone else in front of me and that I would need to wait 30+ min before my brows would be started. Unfortunately my experience was not great. For starters my appointment time was changed the day of the appointment. Which is fine. But when I get there I realized that they also changed the technician and didn't even bother telling me. I had no idea because the technician didn't even tell me her name when I came in. I am not one to write a negative review, I actually don't think I ever have before, but I wanted to hopefully help someone from the experience I had with Ena. I booked my appointment online, which was my first mistake. I put my appointment in my phone as I always do and my phone never alerted me, and a million other reasons "why" but I completely forgot/missed my appointment. (This was totally my mistake, the first time in my life I have ever missed an appointment without calling, and I felt horribly about it. I have many friends and family in this industry and value so much the time of beauty professionals!) I called immediately once I realized my mistake to apologize and to reschedule for the next day per the cancelation/no-show fee policy. Ena treated me and spoke to me horribly from the beginning. She told me there was no way I could get in the next day, or not to be charged the full price. At the end of the call, as I apologized again, I mentioned that in the past I had received a phone call from my estheticians when I was a few minutes late to check on my status, and told her that that would have been really helpful in this case, and I was sure other clients would appreciate it too. She told me off for giving her any advice...So, I apologized AGAIN, and we hung up. Crying after this call for the mistake I had made, but also being treated so poorly made me want to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.
