We recently contracted with Dave Heacock and his team at Heacock Elevators to install a Vertical Platform Lift (VPL) at our home. Dave came out to our home and helped us determine the type of mobility assist device that would best fit our home and needs. We greatly appreciated Dave's experience and expertise as he carefully and thoroughly evaluated the available options with us. After learning the pros and cons of each, it became apparent to us that the exterior VPL was best suited to the structure of our home. The selected location would allow us to access the lift through a door at the back of our garage workshop and then take the lift to an upstairs balcony where we are able to access either our living area or main bedroom. Since installation of the unit required pre-installation construction services, Dave referred us to a local construction contractor and came onsite to meet with the construction contractor and leads from both teams to review the project requirements. The construction contractor then worked with his team to install the required concrete slab, modify the upper level balcony for access to the lift, and install the required electrical components. During the construction phase, Dave periodically checked in onsite with the construction contractor to ensure that phase was on track and met the requirements. Once the construction phase was completed, Dave and his team returned onsite for the lift installation. Dave was onsite each day working with his team throughout the project. They each demonstrated their individual expertise and the knowledge and skills to carry out their specific roles. They reliably arrived on time, worked hard each day start to finish, were very professional and always pleasant to work with. Craftsmanship was excellent throughout. We knew that our very tight available space required customization and Dave and his team skillfully provided the necessary enhancements so that design integrity, quality and safety were paramount to the final result. We are highly satisfied and enjoying our new lift. We know that it will definitely meet our needs going forward and allow us to stay in the home that we love. We moved into a home with an elevator... Had problems with the elevator -Our builder recommended Heacock Elevator Company- they worked with our schedules, explained their service fee and sent a tech who was prompt and personable. He tested the elevator and found that it was working perfectly - We both rode up and down with his tools easily 350lbs. Last week it wouldn't budge with me and a large box of cushions - 175lbs at most. He and I agreed that he should perform a full service. After he left, I saw the builder - on further discussion, we agreed that it had to do with one of the power outage/brownouts that affected the SLO County last week. We bought a two-story house that we absolutely love. Because of our age and physical limitations, neither of us can climb 17 stairs when we need to go to the second story. There is no bedroom on the first floor, so our most ideal option was to install an elevator. In my search, one manufacturer that stood out the most was PVE--Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators. Our family hastily required getting our elderly mother's home stair-accessible so that she could return home from acute care following a nasty fall wherein she broke her leg. Heacock Elevator Company had been highly recommended to us; consequently, we contacted the owner, Dave Heacock, who immediately came out to provide us with an estimate, which turned out to be far less than what we intended the cost to be, and highly affordable. Knowing our timing challenge, he and his work crew (who were just the nicest people to work with), scheduled the installation for the following day and installed the needed stair chair lift within a couple of hours--done! This company, and owner Dave Heacock, are truly exceptional! After my 86-yo FIL took a fall, we decided to have a stair lift installed so he could sleep in his bed instead of the chair he had been sleeping in for 3-days. Responses from other companies were saying at least a 2-week installation, which we felt was unacceptable. Within a half-hour of our call, Dave was at our house to provide an estimate, and after an agreement to purchase, a commitment to install the very next work day! Sure enough the next day, Dave and his crew were at our doorstep ready to go. Within 2 to 3 hours, stair lift was installed; chair was fitted to my FIL along with very thorough instructions on operation; and several test runs to allow him to get the feel of the system. Within 4-hours, my FIL had showered and sound asleep in his bed! It's very apparent, Dave takes a great deal of pride in his company, and is very respectful and considerate to his customers! His focus is excellent customer service and providing a quality product. The gentlemen he has working for him were very fastidious and set about their work in a very focused manner. They were extremely polite and very patient in dealing with my FIL. If possible, I would leave a 10-star review for this company! In todays environment, you just don't find businessmen like Dave. He realizes the service he provides truly help his customers, and you can tell he's not just in the business to make a buck.
