Shhhhh. It's a secret!…read more Loved this place! Ended up there for Halloween and was so happy to see everyone there in like minded fashion had dressed up in thoughtful and original costumes. No store bought sexy nascar mechanics or purple hatted pimps here. Everything about the place exudes cool, right down the giant doomsday ray in the downstairs lobby.

I've been wanting to check this place out since I read about the Halloween show they put on…read more First, once you find the front door, you must wait for them to come downstairs and unlock the gate and the door for you. Then you're directed down a long hallway, up two flights of stairs, then down a shorter hallway then you're suddenly inside what can only be described as the best makeshift treehouse you can imagine. Your 8-year-old self is in heaven! I was in awe of this place when I walked in. It's small, but they still managed to put so, so much into it! There's a portion of a ship coming out of the wall and a captain's room next to it stuffed with books I've never heard of and many, many comic books with paintings and a roll-top desk. You go a bit further inside, seeing many, many posters and paintings throughout the way, then there's the world's tiniest bar to your left with the 1970's style black and white tile chipping away on the floor in front of it. To your right there will be the world's tiniest skate ramp with another room at the top of it. That's right, in order to get inside that tiny room, you'd have to climb up the skate ramp, like you would a slide that we all attempted to climb up as kids on a playground. In the very back of that room is the stage, and to the right of the stage is, yes, that tree house everyone has talked about. There is just such a vintage feel to this place, like you're going back in time. It's simply beautiful. On this particular night, we all had the enjoyment of listening to oldies from the '50's and the '60's while we all had cheap beer and played Berlin Style ping-pong. Everyone had a blast, whether we were awesome at ping-pong or terrible at it, we all had the time of our lives! I HIGHLY recommend going at least once to check it out. Once you find it, it's worth it! I can't wait until their next event, and it's so close to the 16th and Mission BART station! The Secret Alley should be on everyone's bucket list.

You are welcome to bring your own food from the outside but just no drinks which is a great way to keep the party going with friends. Though my buddy got kicked out, the bouncers were nice enough to kick him out respectfully - that is for being a bit too drunk. Love you guys for that and please don't ever give the bouncers are hard time. :)

I tried to avoid writing this review by contacting the venue directly but have yet to see a response, so here we are. They had multiple pages on their website saying they are showing all the World Cup games for free, including the game I attended on June 13th. None of the pages I saw mentioned a cover charge for this game. (See the attached screenshots). Also, they had posted similar ads on their social media accounts saying that they are showing the games for free. So after waiting 20 minutes in line for the Brazil vs. Morocco game with no prior warning I was informed there's a $25 dollar entry fee at the door. The game had already started due to the extremely slow door management even though I showed up ten minutes early to get in on time. I just payed the cover because I didn't want to miss any more of the best match for the group stage, and didn't know where else I could go nearby. Once inside the promoter showed the game on a low definition satellite stream that was choppy throughout, and kept cutting out completely, missing parts of the game. On top of all that the promoter was charging $20 for feijoada, which basically is rice, beans, and some meat on top. This seemed draconian considering the ridiculously high price of entry for a game viewing that other venues all over the city showed for free. I would like to know how this obvious disconnect between your advertising and what the promoter actually charged/offered will be addressed to your loyal customers?

Arch Cradle is a public sculpture located in the City of Palo Alto, California. It is situated in…read morethe Mitchell Park Complex and is the work of sculptor Michael Szabo. Szabo, a native of the Bay Area, forms large scale outdoor installations using primarily bronze or stainless steel. His installations tend to interact with the environments they are placed in. As described on his website: "aesthetic language and occasional use of elements such as water have allowed the studio to explore the relationship between art, landscape, and architectural spaces" Despite his tendency towards large sculptures, he also does smaller ones that would fit in a family garden. He also has installations around the world. The first thing I though of when glancing at the sculpture was that of a snake curing up. The snake feeling is quickly dispelled by the fact that there are clearly two ends. The weld lines are integrated into the structure and form a segmented section that appears to be uniform from one tail end to the middle then back again. It is fascinating to look at and go back and forth on what is going on. It was barricaded off as you will see int he pictures and the plaque is new, as well. The background on the artist page is a bit different so Im wondering if it has been moved from another site in the park. Arch Cradle is off the main parking area for Mitchell Park and towards the interior. There are tons of services, including the ultra modern Library, tennis courts, the magic Bridge Playground, etc. Unlike many art isntalaltions, a whole day can be made out a trip to the park and its environs.

Us neophytes were perplexed as to what exactly is going on here? Felt a bit like my visit to Rajneeshpurnam in Northern Oregon in 1984! The DJ person knows nothing about the record. It's a STUPID.COM stroke fest! They put on the featured record which was: "KIND OF BLUE" by Miles Davis. This is the biggest selling jazz record of all time, but I'm pretty sure the DJ person or presenter had NO idea. It also was one of the first records to have a predominant BASS LINE upfront ("BASS ON TOP") with the incomparable "MR. PC" (Paul Chambers). And, the "bass woofer" was turned OFF and I asked the lady after the gig and she said "Oh well, this isn't a very "Bassy" album so they probably turned it off. Pretty damn ironic. Immersive? I would've experienced more "immersive" on my car stereo sitting in the parking lot across the street listening to the Backstreet Boys! I was more impressed in my buddies family room in 1972 on his parent's $399.00 fake woodgrain 6 foot console stereo system with an eight track player and a turntable with sound organs built-in that flashed colored lights to the beat of the music.

The staff provided clear and helpful instructions on site (ie. remove our shoes, drinks for purchase, where to find atm machine and restrooms). We were impressed by the small space. The place was dim and comfy with a bit of haze filling the air to set the mood, high quality speakers (L-Acoustics brand) set up inside giant perforated tubes (about 9 columns total), additional speakers at the corners and ceiling of the room. Seats with back support on the soft carpeted floor, though some guests chose to lie down during the session. It started about 5 minutes late, and lasted about 45-50 minutes long. Listening to the remarkable sounds of Pink Floyd in that time frame was relaxing and therapeutic. Just to be clear, the music is not blasting in your ear in terms of volume, it's basically surrounding you with sound so you can feel it, rather than just hear it, and it's done well. A lovely experience, especially if you choose an event playing the tunes of an artist you're a fan of.

Socal definitely gets all the movement for these types of shows but I was so surprised coming here for the first time for John Summit for New Years Day. It was easy to navigate around the venue. Theres street parking and parking where i'm not sure you could park but parked there anyway and nothing happened. Getting inside was bottlenecked at the front and went fast, there are a bunch of smaller venue rooms with smaller artists that I wish I checked out more. It was refreshing walking around before the concert outside to the main hangar/main stage. They had food and porta potties right outside near the hangar which was convenient. Inside the main stage, its covered with a lot of drink tents. Very cool inside and not stuffy becauze it has an open concept. Music quality was okay, some of the artists before were way to quiet in my opinion. John Summit was amazing and the vibes were great. Excited to come back to this venue for more amazing artists.

We came later in the afternoon and mainly enjoyed the music. The Sunshine Garcia all-girl group was pretty good, and the new farm band, Soul Twin Messiah, ended the day with some great funk and blues tunes that put us in a dancing mood. Besides the entertainment, we enjoyed the quirky setting, unconventional random seating options (including an adult sized rocking horse), and the awesome garden/nursery with chickens and lots plants at the new farm. There was even a goat pen with a ton of these adorable animals relaxing and exploring their surroundings, some even cuddling together (these grazing goats help the environment as well). Other features included a tiny kids' play area and a small camera obscura which was cool (since we recently visited the more well known camera obscura near Ocean Beach and Lands End). The crowd was small, laid back, and very carefree and kind. And there were no food or beverages sold here that I could see, though people brought their own drinks and snacks.  It didn't feel like a formal event, but we had a good time vibing to the music and positive atmosphere, and it was free to stop by and check out, with easy street parking right near the entrance, so can't really complain.
