On the far end is a playground, with a very nice large shelterhouse with picnic tables. The playground is a lot of wood, metal, and climbing nets, and has sections for ages 2-5 and 5-12. By far the biggest draw appeared to be the very tall, fast slide, accessible via climbing net. There are benches available, and play shades available in one section. A nice sized parking lot is available too.

Just north of here there is a low-head dam currently situated on the Creek. so we needed to avoid that structure, and selected this park as a starting point. there is a nice boat ramp, and although there have been quite a bit of rain the water level had receded overnight, so we had to walk the boats out to the center of the creek. After a little scooting around we were on our way. This is a great launching point, and it made for a great float of about 1-1/2 to 2 hours into downtown Gahanna. We got all that here, and so much more. There is a fair-sized playground with several slides, climbing areas, swings, etc. And: an obstacle course with logs, tunnels, little houses to play in, and more. Wow. Plus it's a great park otherwise: shade, plus green space, a shelter with bathrooms, tables, a rain garden, places to fish by a big pond, paths, basketball courts and playing fields, and more. There are plenty of parking areas as well. There are several sports areas, for football, baseball, soccer, and basketball, with porta potties placed throughout. Personally, my wife and I are at the age that we don't use the park very often. However, when our grandkids were here this past weekend, they wanted to go to "that nice park" you took us to last time we were here (over a year ago). Millstone Creek Park offers a little of everything. Nice assortment of playground equipment; accessible; a variety of activities; sports fields; nature/wetlands area; picnic shelter and restrooms. Plenty of parking. My only suggestion for improvement would be the addition of a few more benches for the grandparents who bring their grandkids to the park.

The park sign said it closed at dusk, which we didn't realize until we left after dark. It didn't occur to us to leave earlier because all the lights were still on in the shelter and bathroom area, and the bathrooms stayed unlocked! There weren't many other lights but we were just sitting in the shelter since no one else was there. There is a shelter that is reservable--we saw signs on it from previous reservations that weekend, but I'm not sure how much it is. There's little enough city light around that you can actually do some stargazing after dark. All in all this is a great park!

There are handicapped options and usually a good pet friendly option wherever you visit. Throughout the year, a variety of organized activities occur, from educational hikes and presentations, to multi-unit challenges that incorporate GPS adventures, or challenges to visit all the park units in a specific session, like Winter Hike for example. Night time ranger and guide led hikes are great, and introduce nocturnal wildlife like owls and other creatures. There are a wide variety of wildlife to be seen, from Wild Turkeys to White Tail Deer, Coyotes, amphibians, song birds, raptors, and other amazing creatures in natural settings. Maps of the park system & individual parks are available on line, as well as paper copies at most parks!
