These folks just made wings for me and helped me stock up on bottled water, in the middle of the worst winter storm since December 1984.
While the whole community's water is offline, Including theirs. In the middle of a global pandemic that the world has not seen in over a century.
I've been a regular at this place for years now, but I honestly did not expect them to open up today and be serving the locals every way they could. I have friends in the city who have no power, are running out of fresh water, and are wary of even trying to leave the house for fear of road conditions. And out here, in this little rural town, right down the road from my own home, these people opened up for business and served up a welcome slice of normality and comfort, in the form of a damn good chicken wing.
They have a crew of kids that treat you kindly, and are constantly hustling to get customers served, and a team of cooks that will serve up a surprisingly diverse menu with admirable consistency.
On any given day in a normal world, that would rate a great review on a site like Yelp. But today is not a normal day, and these are not even remotely normal times. They are way too busy to listen to me rant about heroics and human compassion in the face of historically batsh&t-crazy circumstances. But these people have earned my lasting gratitude, and I figured somebody out here should know about them. read more
