The PAs/nurses could be more thorough about meds prescribed -- especially in relation to creams and lotions. Whoever does follow-ups on a phone (nurse I think) could be a little more specific about the information she/he is passing on from the PA/DR. I hate ending up "bothering" them, using the portal -- not that they seem to mind; BUT more often than not I am asking about things related to what they were not clear about at the outset. The "newbies" seemed pressed to get patients in/out, rather than getting to know them, like ones in the past did.

I have not met Dr Garcia yet, but I have had very positive experiences with all of her staff, from reception to nursing. Her office in Ithaca is warm and inviting, with complimentary muffins, tea, and water for patients in the waiting area. The waiting area reminds me of a living room, with ceramic figurines sitting on bookshelves, and comfy, uphosltered wooden chairs along the walls. I met with one of the nurses and with Mary Lou Philips, MSN, CNM. They answered my questions patiently and thoroughly. When I experienced an exceptional amount of pain during a procedure, I was treated with respect, kindness, and compassion. I work in health care, and I was appalled at how I was treated…read more When I scheduled my appointment on the phone I was asked to come a few minutes early to fill out new patient information, sure understandable. The day before I was left a voice text on my phone which instructed me to arrive 15 minutes before by appointment time, no problem. I arrived 15 minutes early, and waited behind one patient checking in. When I checked in I was told I was late, and that I should have come at 1:00 for my 1:30 appointment. I told the receptionist that was not the message I was given, my instructions were to come 15 minutes early. She said she would ask the MD if it was okay to see me. When she returned, I showed her my iPhone's message which read 15 minutes early, she said the dr. said I'd have to reschedule. I asked her to please take my phone back to the dr and show her the message. She said it was too late she is seeing her next patient, by this time it was about 1:25, needless to say, had I been able to have my appointment I would have waited for the dr to see me sometime after 1:30. I guess it's okay for me to wait, but not Dr. Garcia. I told the receptionist there was no need to reschedule my appointment. I refuse to miss another half day of work. If this is how they treat new patients, I want nothing to do with her business.

He guarantees access to his care By telling to come in right away if there is a problem. He promises to care for chronic situations right away, even often stepping away from the active clinic to help in regular patient rooms. Deb, his PA, consults with him on challenging treatment options. Both have an excellent "bedside manner" as well. The office check in kiosk is very helpful. The office staff are insistent on patient responsibility and advocating for themselves. The office professionals are learning to recognize urgent care situations in this highly specialized office. Come prepared to advocate for what you need To feel better. Good communication between patient and office staff is so important. I look forward to growing that relationship as much as I can knowing the staff will do whatever it takes to do the same.
